    Well, I had this game sitting around for like four years collecting dust and decided to pull it off the shelf for some boys at my job and only insight I had was my experience with Warcraft TCG and MtG and one deck building game. I have to say for sure, I sat and watched all these and to be honest I had the concept and gameplay down by the end of the first 15 minute turn play through compared to seeing other videos that were spanning over an hour. These are extremely well done and appreciate this a lot. On a side note, is there somewhere I can go (if at all possible) to see about doing a 4 person game? I got a few boys at work who enjoy this stuff and 2 player format just isn't enough.

    Thanks for the wonderful videos. You've convinced me that this is a game I'd like to play, I really have to get out of Arkham for a while. Oh, and always keep the mistakes in; it lets us noobs see that anyone can make a mistake, it lets the old hands feel smug (they've earned it), and lets us all know you're keeping it real. FF should link to this as their recommended instructional video.

    I just got the game and this great series, is exactly what I was looking for!
    Thanks a lot for your hard work and time, that you put into the videos - I really enjoyed it!
    btw. do you plan to make a series of the Space Hulk Card game
    (Space Hulk: Death Angel - The Card Game) or another playthrough of the Lord of the Rings Card game with 2 players + a random expansion? ;-)

    A very late thank you for your extremely well done walk-through. I've had this game for quite a few years, and I've had much difficulty reading the rules to figure out how to play on my own, enough trouble that I actually hadn't finished even half of a game without feeling like I had messed up so badly so I never felt like finishing. I finally decided to try and find a UA-cam video to explain the game for me, and I found YOUR VIDEO SERIES!!! And it did the trick, after watching your first few videos, I gave it another go and actually finished a game! I did lose, but now I actually feel confident enough to play it again, and hopefully have better luck than the first time. So THANKS!

    Played 3 games in the last 2 days. One game was lost in like 2-3 rounds. The other two eventually lost to a combination of Treachery locking my characters up and insane damage from Hummerhorns. Not sure how I feel about it. Its hard to like a hero that dies so easily.

    Enjoyed the play through. I got this for Christmas and finally got it to the table today after watching all of the episodes. I opted for the tactics deck as well. A tactical error in the first turn of my first game forced me to restart. The second game ended with me hitting a 50 threat and only just clearing the first card. I won the third game using the spirit deck ... but it took me 20 turns. I needed Gandalf to defeat Ungoliant's Spawn but he didn't show up until third to the last card.

    Sat down and opened the game today and watched all the videos while playing with your deck combinations. Final score 63 so you did way better than me. I finished with the last four turns generating locations from the threat date so got stung by ever increasing quest losses giving big dial hits. All three heroes pumped up and no one to fight!

    Hi Rodney, can I ask your opinion on Arkham Horror Card Game from FF. I know you're a fan of the mythos/theme from your MoM (1&2) vids so I'm presuming a gamer if your undeniable stature and renown has undoubtably snared a copy already 😊 (Or not) I know the intention of your channel is not to review or critique games but if you've played Arkham already how would you compare it to LotR. I love Lord of the Rings setting etc but I think I'm after something less geared towards the gamey style deck building formula and something more of a roleplaying or narrative telling feel to it. Also are you planning on featuring Arkham Cards later? Again thanks for all your amazing vids. With so many great looking games out there and with limited resources I've personally found that your approach to helping the discerning gamer to be the most valuable. Problem being that thank God we're all rather different and so even the most honest and unbiased review can be terribly misleading. Your vids really show what the game plays like and whether it will appeal. I can say in truth that all the games I've bought after seeing them feature on your channel were purchased without any feeling of risk and were never a wasted purchase . So on that score a sincere thank you and a jolly Good job Sir 😊

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  8 років тому

      Hello Warring Panda :) Thanks for the kind words about the channel. Really nice to know that you've found the videos help give you a good sense of the games you'd like (and not like) to play!
      I have played the Arkham Card Game, but only once, and it was during a flurry of games I was learning, so my experience with it has been VERY brief and rushed at this point. That said, even commenting on which game is more narrative, or less gamey style deck building fall more into an opinion than I'd be comfortable with. I'd have a hard time evaluating that for someone else. Sorry I can't be of more help there.
      I don't have any plans to feature the Arkham card game at this point, but that's not because I liked or didn't like the game (just have a full schedule right now :) )

    • @JD77ATH
      @JD77ATH 8 років тому

      Rodney thank you for your thoughtful response 😊 I understand your position especially if you've only played it once.
      If there's no plans for it to be scheduled I'll just have to keep an eye out for other goodies featured on your channel. Hope you don't get too many pesky questions from warmongering mammals 😉
      Keep up the good work -John

    Not a bed videos. I really learn playing the game pretty easy. Just have two questions, to make clear for myself the principals of the gameplay and to distinct LOTR LCG from other card games (e.g. MTG). First, Can we attached two "citadels plate" to one hero, to have +8 hit points (yes, it is restricted, but to say there are no other restricted attachments on that hero)? And second question - When Dunhere use his special skill (I presume it is able only in attacking phase), is the enemy still in the staging area after the attack resolves and it's not killed? Thank you!

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  8 років тому

      +Stoyan Taskonidis Because the Citadel Plate is not marked as "Unique", you can attach two of them to the same character. As long as those are the only 2 Restricted items on that character. Dunhere can target them with an Attack, but he does not "engage" them, so they stay in the staging area. Hope that helps!

    • @stoyantaskonidis9646
      @stoyantaskonidis9646 8 років тому

      Just as I thought, but to be sure! Thank You. BTW, I've just watched another similar videos, and they made some terrible mistakes as well (and of course already marked during the video). So as long as it's edited and commented that it's a mistake it's fine, because it helps you to be alerted. Not a bed game, but I think I have to by some extensions to build a good deck and have a full experience of the gameplay.

    Thanks for the series. Just watched the whole thing this morning ... and now I'm off to my local store for a copy of the game!
    I'd seen it several times in store, but due to the price and theme, didn't think it'd be worth buying as I don't have anyone interested in complex card games to play with regularly. However, your playthrough has shown me that it actually plays perfectly well in single player and I'm sold!
    Something you didn't mention is the similarities to Magic: The Gathering ... Do you plan to cover Magic at all? I know it's a big one to get into, but Luke is the perfect age to teach ... And that might just be excuse enough to justify the game's cost to the missus! 😉
    Thanks again. Love the channel.

      Very glad you enjoyed the video Adam! I hope you have fun exploring the game. As for Magic, I played the game when it first came out many years ago. Loved it. But the CCG model, at that price, was a little bad for my personality type, so I tend to lean more towards the LCG model like this and other games. I do play Magic casually, but there are so many videos about that game, I'm not sure I have something new to say :)

After watching all of them I feel I have a significant amount of knowledge to be able to play on my own. I really appreciate the effort and time you put into these videos. Thanks for this series, it really rekindled the flame for card games in my heart, I used to play Magic ALL THE TIME but now it's so hard to find someone who wants to play (and at a time that suits other people, having a young kid really restricts time!) and this whole idea of a single player card game seemed amazing. You were very clear on the rules and made it easy to understand. I am definitely going to give this one a try. You have totally earned another subscriber, thanks!
    P.S do any of the other Fantasy Flight Games LCG games have a single player mode, because their settings seem pretty cool.

    Actually this was the first series I've watched, it was pointed me out from a friend of mine who wanted me to learn the game rules (and you sir did an excellent job explaining that). I've ended watching the whole thing in December 2013, I think, and after that I made the decision to run through all WIP archive.
    Just thought that expecially this video deserved a comment, and I wanted to make some reccommendations to future viewers:
    to everyone that has enjoyed watching this video and that loves learning boardgames (explained by the most polite and nice person I've stumbled so far on the internet), I suggest you to go back to the beginning of WIP story (back to this video: Let's Play Mansions Of Madness - Video 1) and enjoy a full view of all the series Mr. Smith has filmed so far. It's a long trip - for sure - but maybe it could be the funniest way of learning you'll ever experience.

    Because of your play through with LOTR:LCG I purchased the core set 2 months ago. I just sat down and played the Lore core set and Passage through Mirkwood. Well, I know I made mistakes but I survived with a threat level of 49. It was probably higher, but who's counting? Anyway, thanks for making this season as well as your whole series in general. Like I have mentioned in my comment to S9E15 I have gotten myself the core set of this game. After playing it myself I must congratulate you on winning the game with what is the hardest deck to play with in this scenario ;) Even with Legolas ability it's hard to get the quests done in this scenario. And apart from offensive power tactics deck strugles with everything, from defense to resources. For anyone else picking this one up: leave the tactics deck for last or pick up some expansions.

      I did get some expansions since the game just came out in reprint, heros packs like Elves and Dwarves. I like to create a deck, wish he had done one hero with a different SOI since most videos play with just one. A number of other questions would come up too. Assuming all attachments can only be used by heros with same marking once they are paid for. not sure
