- This is a recording of one of two contributing to an afternoon public event on the theme of ‘Rethinking Colonialism: The Southern Sudanese Liberation Struggle and the Challenge to Decolonisation’. The presentation is introduced by Dr Ahmed Al-Shahi (Co-founder and Chair of Trustees, The Sudanese Programme) and the guest speaker is Dr Yaniv Voller, speaking about his recent publication "Second-Generation Liberation Wars: Rethinking Colonisalism in Iraqi Kurdistan and Southern Sudan. The presentation will be followed by another edited video recording which includes the Respondents to Dr Voller and audience Q&A.
The event was convened on Saturday 28 October 2023 at St Antony’s College, University of Oxford and was organised by The Sudanese Programme in collaboration with the Middle East Centre, St Antony’s College. We organised the event as hybrid, with audience able to join us in person or online through ZOOM.
