Spider-Man by way of the West Wing sounds great! I agree that this issue “just felt like Spider-Man”, but I would respectfully argue Amazing Spider-man hasn’t felt like Spider-Man for a while. This is exactly what I want from Spider-Man, bank robbery, superhero battle and slowly escalating soap opera. Perfect.
I think the fact that USM feels like Spider-Man is fundamentally a good thing, IMO, especially when I wasn't getting nearly enough of that sensation from the mainstream series lately. Contrary to what a couple of y'all said about this issue, I think the supporting cast (MJ and Ben) does enhance the book. Regarding the conversation with MJ, that was surely not the final word on the topic. If anything, it's quite the opposite for a book that is still, essentially, in the "build up" stages of its run (even assuming the Ultimate line could end at, say, 35 to 50 issues for whatever reason, but I'm hoping it sticks around for longer). Taken together with the conversation with Ben later on, which is foreshadowing the other side of the coin, there's almost certainly going to be more drama and complications. Y'all want this to happen faster? Fine, but comparing the pace to very old comics is silly, since modern comics tend to be more decompressed especially when the run is open-ended.
I'm not sure why it's silly to make the comparison when we feel it's moving slowly? It's great that it's working for you but I don't think there's anything wrong with our opinions either, especially when we've seen Hickman cook a lot quicker on other books. We simply don't like the pacing.
@@TheComicsPals I wouldn't say it is wrong per se, but there are very few modern big 2 comics that are about as quickly paced as, say, your average issue from the 1960s, including Amazing Fantasy and the rest.
My shop had a TMNT/Naruto pizza party yesterday. I didn't know who Naruto was until then. I admire the original TMNT fro m the 80's though and enjoyed Last Ronin and Lost Years. Not sure about picking up this new book though.
I had fun with it! It's definitely not a must-read, and as someone who has no connection to Naruto I'm sure I missed things other people enjoyed, but I was happy I bought this. Not sure about continuing the series, but as a one off, it was a good time.
ON GHOST MACHINE - From the direction of the superhero books, I think that Ghost-Machine will become a balanced, but more leaned towards non superhero content in the future. Love ROOK and Junkyard-Joe so far - used to love Geiger before it seemed to drag on with nothingness (redcoat is okay at best) but the non superhero books from Ghost-Machine from the start caught my eye, and I think many of them are going to be bangers..... But I think American Comics need to be rebalanced away from superhero comics anyways, and I think many of the titles that Ghost-Machine are presenting look amazing, and the overall titles look like a healthy diverse company.
with all due respect to the question, batman is the worlds greatest detective and there are other intelligent ppl such as mr terrific on board the watchtower so i feel the premise is already floppy in that regard as, like is the question a better detective then bruce and was he busy with other things? and having batwoman on her team considering they are an ex couple and not consulting her about it was kind of strange and just a ploy to set drama up.why recruit the question and put her ex girlfriend on the team? surely that can lead to problrms during the mission?. Saw a mark waid interview talking bout jlu yesterday and he says worlds finest is in continuity but is just set way back in the early years of Dc.
I love ultimate spider-man for the exact same reason you disliked it lol .Opposite ends of the spectrum i suppose. Good video/pod/whateverthefuck it is😂

The feeling you get from reading Ultimate Spider-Man is the same feeling you get from reading Last Ronin II.
Ah yes you guys put your names on screen! Haha as a new sub I’m always like damn what’s his name again?
We received this feedback in our survey and we’re addressing it! Glad it’s working for you, thanks for watching.

You guys feel about USM, the way I feel about Ultimate Black Panther. A limp wristed pull lol
Fair! I also feel that way about UBP right now sadly. I WANT to love it but unfortunately I don't right now.

Hey thank you brother! Nothing wrong with us being on opposite sides of this one, and I'm glad you're having a good time with the book.
