it was a nice video with useful information as usual.

Love this with logical ICs, not all uControllers and such, they are nice but to know these 'base' ICs is a must and
one time a long time ago in a galax... nope..... :P
... I knew the first about 50 pcs of the LS74-series as I fiddled a lot with 'em.

Hi,Sir will you be kind enough to make a tutorial on the ic cd4093 nand gates,i've seen this in water pumps from china the electronic pressure sensor for the on off, thanks

Top of the page says 4060
Bottom of the same page says 4040
    Which is it?

I focus on the 4040 but the 4060 is similar.

Does the input have to be a square wave or can it be triggered by a clock such as an arduino microcontroller?

The square wave is generated by the clock module. The input to the counters can be any clock or square wave. I'm not sure what you are asking.

@@LewisLoflin Thanks for the reply.!! Sorry for the confusion. I am a composer who has been making my own musical instruments with microcontrollers. Unfortunately I have found the words clock, trigger, gate, sync.CV, pulse, simple high/low, etc are used interchangeably quite often in the DIY synth world. Actually what I meant to ask is if a 5v output of an Arduino fluctuating between the high and low state could be used as a clock input for a 4020. I have been triggering sounds with the arduino outputs. But the outputs of the 4020,4040,and 4060 would work perfect for music projects because they are mathematically like music. A whole note split in half is a half note. A half note split in half is a quarter note. A quarter note split in half is a 16th note. then 32nd and 64th. I have used a 555 as a clock source with success but when I tried the Arduino no success. The arduino is needed because I need a display of the beats per minute to dial up an exact tempo. Thanks again!!

What happens if you power it with 12V as opposed to 5V exactly?

If you do that 5V won't operate it.You will need a voltage converter.
