Mesa/Boogie Rectifier 2x12 Vs Electra Dyne 2x12

Today we are comparing two of Mesa/Boogie's finest 2x12 cabinets, the 2x12 Rectifier and 2x12 Electra Dyne. Even though these two cabinets are loaded with the same speakers, the Celestion Vintage 30, they yield a completely different tone. The Rectifier cab has a punchy bottom end with some top end sizzle. The Electra Dyne's forte is all in the mids. We used a Royal Atlantic for this demo and distance mic'ed the cabs with a Royer R-121.

I like the Electra Dyne in this clip. Sounds like it spreads more, and pushes the mids way more, which I find to be a more pleasing sound, personally.

Rectifier is definitely more bassy, but at stage volume the e-dyne open back gives a fuller spectrum of sound. Of course if you play chuga chuga metal, you already know you want the rec.

In this video I liked the Recto 2x12 better, but I prefer the road king 2x12 over the recto overall

Recto sounds better. I have an Electra Dyne 1x12 combo and it matches up way better with the C90 Black Shadow, and once in a whle I get to connect it to mah Avatar 2x12 with V30's SO LOUD AND BASSY!!!
