We are gonna bring back 24-player 200cc style tournaments on Twitch this week! twitch.tv/twd98 Unfortunately as you guys have probably noticed in past videos this year, Item Rain has started to lag a lot which leads to laggy finishing positions and low FPS which is why I'm gonna postpone the monthly tournaments until it becomes more playable. It still works really well in small rooms but the problems are too glaring otherwise.

That was introduced by various security updates over the years (sadly not the kind of thing I can remove easily), so before much else I'm going to be doing an optimisation update to CTGP to try to get the framerate back to where it should be. This could take a fair while, though, and I'm also doing some Wiimmfi related updates on the side, but we will get the performance back. We need 24p and item rain to behave themselves, and even less frameskipping in 12p races would be nice :P

Chances are it’s cause they are probably on wii and troy is on wii u so naturally the wii will experince more lag on item rain then wii U kinda makes me wish item rain was available on dolphin since a good PC will be able to run this with little to no lag 😞

I noticed that after you played as the dry bones,your favorite character in the game, you began to play as baby characters such as baby Mario and baby Peach! I love how baby Mario and baby Luigi still have their little hats and the baby princesses have their little royalty crowns!

Troy I really enjoy watching your videos, you have such impressive advantages to the players, knowing how to be so expert at this game, again could you do item rain all N64 tracks, all GCN tracks, and all DS tracks online, it will be entertaining, but remember don't race in DS Rainbow Road and GCN Dino Dino Jungle in the my stuff folder, cause you already know their still not in CTGP, and also do not race in N64 Moo Moo Farm and N64 Yoshi Valley in the my stuff folder either, they got removed from CTGP, so I suggest you substitute re racing the same tracks, like GCN Baby Park, N64 Koopa Troopa Beach, N64 Toad's Turnpike, and DS Bowser Castle, i'll be fun. a replay
Yikes! Pure chaos indeed! This game mode looks absolutely nuts! I'd love a new Mario Kart to have official "Item Rain" or "Elimination" modes. Regular races and battles are fun, but it would be great to have an even wider variety of unique modes. At least I'd like Nintendo to bring back missions to Mario Kart.
i wonder if it would be possible or worth it for wiimm to implement some sort of global timer server-side, that would mitigate the issue of losing positions due to lag

I don’t know if this is even possible to program, but what if instead you could get a bonus item but it would deduct 5 points from your score (or maybe 2) ? so that way there would be a cost to using it but if you were desperate it could be helpful
Basically, the absurd amount of items on the screen combined with some security updates CTGP has needed have cumulated in the mode have a lot of lag. MrBean has much more thorough explanation in the comments. But yeah, it’s not Troy’s console, it’s the actual mode itself.

I've always felt the same thing about the bombs. Not only would reducing their likelihood help with lag and gameplay, but also decibel level.
