If KI ends up pushing liahm to not wanna play wizard101 anymore, they'd probably lose a good portion of the player base, thus would be shooting themselves in the foot.
The problem is that: 1- like you said, they don't play the game. They form all their decisions based on theoretical on-paper assumptions and fail to consider what it's like to actually play with/against certain tools 2- They LOVE their roundabout band-aid "solutions" and are extremely allergic to simply solving the root causes of any given problem
They will do everything but add FREE trainable pvp-only 1 pip tri-shields to Diego and temporarily pvp ban the 0 pip tri-shields. They have the means to gain data to see if 1 pip tri-shields would make the meta healthier. They won't.
The second point you made is VERY on point. Basically harassed them with the question of “When are you going to remove the 100 crown cost for swapping a spell enemy path?,” and it took basically my entire chat to KEEP ASKING. Ratbeard finally said “Stay tuned,” then they ended the stream 10 min later. A day later, they added a free spellement swap member benefit.
It's basically in the play book of these people to say "oh you're starting to sound a lot like xyz" as a way to brush off legitimate concerns and truth towards the devs. The fact that with pins you have to fully sacrifice one of the three main offense stats (dmg, pierce, crit) makes dual schooling impossible as a winning strategy. I don't pvp, but there's absolutely no way in hell I would choose to dual school in pve with how offense and health are worked with the secondary school of choice, let alone having to sacrifice a ton of main school stats for abysmal gains in a secondary school's stats. All that and I didn't even mention the stat caps they put in a few months ago..

Them changing the spells in the first place is what screwed the game ….people like me came back and I used to know every spell in the game .. now I have to learn them all over again….maybe just make a new group of spells and leave the old ones alone and they wouldn’t have that problem… next the wall behind PVP is ridiculous… the game use to have thousands of people playing PvP … now it’s a ghost time in the arena period…

The direction of this game seems a to focus only on spells and not the wizard class as when it first come out. The game should be should be call Magic Spell Cards . I have 7 diff accounts for each wizard - now I am not playing since there’s this Duo school setup and I just violently lost interest in the game.
I've been talking about this very thing for the longest time. The developers want to change Wizard101 into a classless spell system and put the identities of the wizard classes into the spells. The problem comes from the inherent imbalance of stronger wizard classes being able to coopt weaker classes' identities without drawback. You essentially become a second-class wizard if you have a wizard identity with worse stats.
I disagree with tri shields costing 1 pip. That’s exclusively a PvP thing and should not be changed cause otherwise that’s just affecting PvE and making that playerbase more enraged and more proof that PvP ruins PvE. They’ve discussed this issue in the past as some spells need to be zero pip spells cause other spells are based on them. Instead, shield gambits either need to be completely removed and replaced with some other gambit idea that requires pips to set-up, the shield gambits need a nerf in damage, or the shield gambits need to require 9 shields to set up (aka 3 turns if tri shielding) so that while you don’t lose momentum via pips, you lose momentum via turns cause your opponent can either counter those shields within 3 turns or possibly kill you before your set up is complete. Shield gambits need a rework, not the shield spells themselves.

Additionally, that idea is stupid because dual shields would need to be nerfed too and cost 1 pip also since shield gambits condition of requiring 4 shields on the user can be easily met with not just tri shields but also dual shields too (both of which cost 0 pips and only takes 2 turns of set up). Fix the gambits themselves, not the spells that are used in their set-up. What’s so hard to understand?
@@uiucchemistry2664 the issue is they don't even play their game. the most playing they have done is make a raid, beat it, and tell sauce they beaten it before nerfing it over the course of 6 months. I can say the same about fixing drains as to make the dpp 66% of death dpp which would in theory make the value equivalent to 100%, but then they will feel ass. a lot of pvp issues can be fixed with limitations such as the limit of non-hitting trapping moves or simply banning them from the side-deck could fix a lot of pvp problems, but no we must do the wonderous route of gambits

However for PvP, some solutions are better than others. I prefer that there was never gambits to begin with but I know that’s not realistic for KI to remove them at all. So I offer the most realistic solution of fixing them. Fixing gambits is better than fixing or limiting the spells that set them up and I offered 3 ways to fix the gambit spells themselves without nerfing shields.
It is very interesting. Because if dual schooling is supported to the 200% then Cosplay becomes an issue. And if it’s not supported then it’s not useful for the damage aspect at least. We need a whole brainstorming to figure out a solution.
It was never supposed to be viable damage wise. Other schools were mainly supposed to be useful for their utility while you relied on your main school for damage. That way dual schooling is useful but not op or so busted that you can just forgo your main school identity and be a death wiz doing crazy storm damage with little sacrifice in terms of stats.
I've been saying to myself "maybe it'll get better" for at least over a year now but perhaps these devs can read my mind and are adamant on destroying hope. I'll just keep my money in my pocket if anything we say hits a brick wall, even when it's issues that a competent dev team in any other game would see and realize needs fixing

Maybe they should lower the main school damage even more, and set shadow pip to a default across the board. That way, people without raid gear can be more competitive and could inspire more creative builds.
I remember when I tried duel schooling myth on the ice. Most I could get was 140 dmg and 30 pierce, with even worse ice stats… because ice’s pins are garbage for some reason.
Theoretically, its either make tri-blades/traps 0 pips like tri-shields or make the shields 1 pip to be even with the other gambits. I dont see whats the problem about that…
I don’t agree with the death drain thing, like what’s the solution to it? Drain is deaths whole thing and if it’s taken away what’s special about the school? I do agree that it’s pretty overpowered in the current meta though
Tri-shields have always been 0 cost and critical for balance identity. So sure, make the cost of tri-shields 1 cost for non-balance schools, but balance is already at a disadvantage in this meta. Lets not add insult to injury.
