I'm wondering whether it is worth growing dekopon for farmers. we grafred this in 2020(i'm just a hobbyist). It's super productive, and vigorous. last season more than half of the fruits on our tree rotted and that is only one year that we got consistent winter rain. imagine if we have many years to come of heavy winter rain, this fruit is screwed. i am reading this year, 2023-24 will be very wet, so maybe i may have the same results as last year. also if these trees are already past their prime, only after about 10 years, it means this variety will be screwed. most importantly, imo a dekopon is not as good as a navel, tango, TDE(all 3 of them), or Gold nugget. my opinion is this variety may be a nice novelty for the upper end market, but it will never have the success of the navels or other sweet mandarins i mentioned. btw i'm not hating, i actually want this variety to prosper, but it's too expensive to keep investing in it.

Wow, where to begin: I mean, is there a person that watched this video that is not struck with the level of science and expertise that goes into farming a citrus crop in California... It puts another level of image to "dumb hick farmer"!!!! I've grown citrus a good part of my life but nothing on the order of this analysis... I've done the same, well actually more, with avocados, but still nothing to the level of the George Ranch. The entire avocado industry needs to hear Tim talk... He could easily transfer his skill set to avocados, probably even more easily than other citrus varieties.... Unfortunately, he is in a citrus belt, a climate not as friendly to avocado... Paul and Scott did an amazing job keeping up with Tim.... Better than I could. Tim is just a fun factoid genius and would keep me awake long after my normal bedtime!!!! So, a big thank you to ALL of you for producing this video! Lots of kudos to Tim for his time and liberty to share!!!! I hope the rains did not prove to be a problem for harvest, I hope you made a profit! Not an easy task in farming even at the highest level of the expertise!!!!! Cheers, gray

I love sumo fruit. They are ugly lumpy but extremely delicious....the lumpy peel reminds me of the ulcers that cover the human deseased flesh...
