The main takeaway of my comparison: overall, I slightly preferred Bluehost because it was just so beginner-friendly, simple to work with, and fast! But don't get the wrong idea, HostGator is a great provider, just not that beginner-friendly for my taste, and has a bit slower performance.

    Which Provider Should You Pick?
If we look at both providers cheapest plans, HostGator’s the first option is their introductory “Hatchling” plan currently usually starting at around $3 per month - if you prepay for 3 years, if you want to host for only a year and then see how you like it, this plan will increase in monthly price up to around $4. BlueHost’s cheapest plan, “Basic” currently also costs around $3 per month, but it's just for one year of hosting, if you want a long hosting period, 3 years, monthly prices rise to around $5.
Bluehost scored 99.99% Uptime with 2 minutes of downtime, and HostGator scored 99.98% of Uptime with 5 minutes of downtime. I do want to stress out, that while it's not 100%, both providers actually achieve what they promise you, Bluehost guarantees a 99.99% uptime while HostGator guarantees you a 99.98% uptime.
Both providers’ packages are business-ready, having a free SSL certificate, a free website name for a year, professional email accounts, and 24/7 customer support by phone or live chat. The biggest difference in resources is that while HostGator gives you both Unmetered Storage Space and Bandwidth, Bluehost only gives you 50GB of storage. Now Unmetered doesn’t really mean unlimited, but as long as you use these resources for your website purposes and don't start hosting movies, you can expand and grow both in traffic and in size without overthinking your plan’s limitations.
HostGator is a tad bit cheaper. Both are very solid providers when it comes to shared hosting, but BlueHost will be better for new users that love WordPress, and HostGator is a bit more for users that have experience and likes the good old cPanel.

Great and informative video. Someone suggested I sign up with Hostgator, and so I did, but now I am wondering if I should switch my account to BlueHost, since I definitely need beginner. Do you know if it is difficult to switch from Hostagator to Bluest?

Hostgator (SUCKS) totally slammed our business website and emails. We are a civil engineering company with straight forward Wordpress sites and no marketing email along with no sign in pages. They first started shutting down our email on one of office (specifics IP), blacklisted our email, then they shut down our websites. They tell you nothing. Now, let’s move to customer service. Every time with tried to find the problem they would always deflect to our internet provider, we need to change our browser to two or three other browsers, our iMac need to be updated (they are updated on every release), it is a problem with our network. After two weeks, they admitted the blacklisted our email for one office. They did not have tier to support and tickets take 2 days to be processed. We have been with Hostgator for 8 years, but save $100 per year is not worth the downtime or IT time costs. We moved to Bluehost based on much better reviews. They migrated us including 300 Gb in 2 days and the migration team was the best I’ve worked with. I hope this helps.

host gator gets unlimited email address; Blue host comes with 5 then has a heavy charge for more. Did anyone else know that or have a different experience?

Imagine you have been a client of theirs for years and suddenly one day you decide to purchase 5 domains on the same day...Bang you're dead !!!! A crazy woman named Prajna R from their Escalated support dept will IMMEDIATELY SUSPEND YOUR ACCOUNT !!! And no explanation why given either !! Upon many phone calls I finally was told it's because buying 5 domain names (Apparently 4 will also do the trick) goes against their user policy yet when I asked to be shown where that was in print they immediately changed the subject every single time !!! This company is IRRESPONSIBLE and pathetic with a crazy power hungry woman in fraud...The funniest thing is I NEVER EVEN used those domain names as just wanted to "Bank" them ...
It still has NOT been resolved to this day !!!
And to show just how crazy this woman is she stated in her email that she wants me to send her a photocopy of MY PASSPORT !!!!
Think about that and let it sink in about just how mad this person is in asking for that!!!
Don't believe me check the Better Business Bureau where they have a score of 1 out of 5 stars ...
Ridiculously bad company with the WORSE support I have ever seen in my entire life !!!
