- In this video I have a hard takeoff in roughly 2 mile per hour wind. I end up jumping off a pile of logs during takeoff. I am also trying out a on screen instrument display. I see a bag at 2500ft and a WWII B17 bomber during this flight. You can see a lot of deer as well in this video and private jet flies pretty close to me.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress is a four-engined heavy bomber developed in the 1930s for the United States Army Air Corps. Competing against Douglas and Martin for a contract to build 200 bombers, the Boeing entry outperformed both competitors and exceeded the air corps' performance specifications.

I would love to come take a flight there,im just around the corner in Libby Montana.
Hi Scott, Watching from some distance here. Nice videos you have up, especially enjoyed the Rocky Mountains camping episode! I'm paragliding for some time and did a bit in paramotoring but keen to do more more!! Subbed to your channel and excited to see what's coming up! If you'd like to see what the paragliding is like over here, it's in a few of my videos. Ciao! 🤙🏼🤩
Great video Scott. Like the info on the screen. Appreciate you sharing some of the difficulties you faced in launching. Happy flying ! See you in the next one.
Scott, how do you get G-speed, Altitude, Heading, and tracking superimposed onto the video? That is really kewl.
It does add to his videos!
Buy a new GoPro. Or if your cheap like me: log gps points on your phone, convert file formats for data and video to work with program dashware to create the overlay and stitch it onto the video. Not real easy but I plan to do it on all future videos.
Do you like this look or would you prefer round flight guages? I did this look because it kinda disappears into the video and isn't distracting.
@@SlowerLiving Thats fantastic! Yeah, it looks real good. You have something unique there.
@@SlowerLiving Yes, the side bars are not distracting, but the info is easy to spot. This format is probably better than round gauges. Thanks.
what are you using to cut out all engine noise and just voice? sounds great!
Same thing as usual but I used a different recording app on my phone to record audio from my SMH 10r via Bluetooth.
Scott, I’m sure you get allot of comments, but can someone explain how you overlaid the flight data? Really neat! I just subscribed! Thanks!
It's kinda complicated. I'll have to do a video on it sometime.
That would be great, I’ll look forward to it!
Had my chase cam snag a weed on a lauch one day and snatch my wing to the ground and turtle me..... You had a rough start. How did you put your altitude and speed on the screen like that?
The new gopros do it.
What if it’s a private airport how u know
Ours is public but you can call the airport to find out.
How close to calling it after the face plant? Beautiful flight waiting, but a bit scary after the beginning there
It depends on how much I want to fly that day. These days if I'm going out to fly I really want to get up. So I'll try about 7 times before I'll give up. My LZ has a lot of rotor normally so it can be challenging.
What state is this, very pretty!
Idaho
Doing your part to clean up the environment? 🤣 Love the data overlay...
Recorded a few thousand gps points and used them to generate the overlay with a GoPro program.
