- Arctic Monkeys humbug new album track 6 fire and the thud lyrics
You showed me my tomorrow
Beside a box of matches
A welcomed threatening stir
My hopes of being stolen
Might just ring true
Depends who you prefer
If its true you're going to run away
Tell me where
I'll meet you there
Am I snapping the excitement
If I pack away the laugther
And tell you how it feels?
And does burden come to meet ya
If I've questions of the feature that rolls on your dream reel?
The day after you stole my heart,
Everything i touched told me it would be better shared with you
And you're hiding in my soup
And the book reveals your face
And you're splashing in my eyelids
As the concentration continually breaks
I did request the mark you cast
Didn't heal as fast
I hear your vioce in silences
Will the teasing of the fire be followed by the thud?
In the jostling crowd
You're not allowed to tell the truth
And the photo booth's a liar
There's a sharpened explanation
But there's no screaming reason to enquire
I'd like to poke them in their prying eyes with things they'd never see if it smacked them in their temples
Copyrights goes to Domino Record Co.
His vocals are actually heavenly wtf
fuck, this is good! I love the way Alex chose to sing it, almost whispering at some points, kinda lazy yet cool, like a slow burning fire. and the guitars, the ending... I just love everything here.
i said it ten years ago and i still say it today, this is their best album
Luciano Mazzetti must disagree, I LOVE this Album. But favourite worst nightmare is my go to album, second: Who the fuck are the Arctic Monkeys
It's definitely in their top three albums.
fourteen years ago now, and it's still true. in hindsight i think this album is the start of where they'd eventually go with Tranquility Base, but i feel like Humbug has more grit to it. it's hazy, mysterious and sexy, but still a little bit sleazy
The backing vocals in the last lines, on the left ear are just... amazing.
Who's the girl that sing?
This whole album is MASSIVELY underrated
personal favourite of them...
Wouldn’t say underrated maybe overlooked?
Agree. Also Suck It and See.
thank god
We need to thank Alexa Chung for inspiring this epic song
During this song, the narrator is involved in a relationship with a girl that doesn’t return the same level of feelings as him. The narrator has an intense emotional attachment to this girl but to her she doesn’t see it as a long term deal. She inevitability breaks off the relationship and leaves the narrator heartbroken, even though he never saw the relationship lasting. After time has passed, the wound never fully heals and he tries to avoid the any memory of the relationship at all costs, never bringing it up in conversation to spare himself the pain. In the end, she followed through with the teasing of the fire that she threatened to start, with a thud.
How you know it was about her? You can't read his mind...
@@juliand.rendonrua5111 thanks you.
Julián D. Rendón Rúa don't remember what interview it was but he states the song is about her, I think it's the only song he's ever confirmed to be about her but keep in mind at the time the two were still together (I think).
@@suckd0g He even said that song is to personal and he almost gave it to someone else.

This is the best song from Humbug I listen to it almost everyday
Eres hermosa
Ellemieke K I do the same ! Marry me !
All the album

@@therotiv4 XD
The day after you stole my heart,
Everything I touched told me it would be better shared with you...
I love Alexa.. why
Without her.. I don't think the entire album would've been created
Best band ever!!! Hands down
Alex.. you are the most amazing lyric writter I've ever heard of
if its true you're gonna run away, tell me where, I'll meet you there
Humbug album makes me flying to a magical and mystery unknown land
Tee Turner we're on the same boat!
The day after you stole my heart,
Everything i touched told me it would be better shared with you
Alex fuckin genius Turner
Love the guitar work on this song.
You know a video is old when it says "lyrics on the right" in youtube... xD.. still a flawless tune though!

This song is not what it seems. it´s not a happy ending song as nearly everyone was expecting
Gastoon.Seep this is such an amazing description...
@@johnmaldonado2974 Fun/Sad fact this is what happened to me a couple months ago , I can relate so much to this song, its hard for me to listen to it but at the end things dont always end as we would like it to end, life its full of failures and sad moments but as Corey Taylor said "set fire to your ships and past regrets and be free" meaning you have to stop looking at the past and prepare for your future.
This is happening to me as we speak
Fuck, that's deep.
He talks about drugs and not about breaking up. Listen to the lyrics
What brilliant lyrics...lovethis song
ohhhh the music ending.
this would make a good scene
humbug is just the best
Favourite from Humbug 🎶
yesss
Tara Evans After 'Crying Lightning' and 'Potion Approaching'
Definitely one of their best tunes. Love it.
One of the best albums to listen to when you're stoned
I image this song playing during a war film over an airstrike
MicrowaveBackground nice!! ^^
Yeah... And smoking a cigar in the cockpit when you pull the lever
It's from the Jimi Hendrix/rolling stones style guitar
Omg yes
The harmonies right at then end are just A+++
My fave album by AM x
Same, Homme killed it in the studio. "knocked the Sheffield out of those kids"
eer there's nothing wrong with sheffield lol
i like all the albums but this does tend to get played on repeat once it's playing x
DENISE RODGERS
I was just quoting Josh Homme who produced it, from when he worked on the album with them. He was saying that was his process when working with them. It's a joke, I laugh, you laugh... let's laugh! ;-)
aaah k
DENISE RODGERS
LAUGH DAMMIT! ... hehe ;-p I keed. AM is starting to grow on me too, but I had a bootleg of R U mine from serious like 2 years ago, and it's the same song... so it's kind of weird.
Masterpiece
One of their most underrated songs.
This track is nothing but sex
Rory Everett *album
All time fave
This is why Humbug is a masterpiece. Underrated song as well.
I don't have an appropriate emotional structure to listen to this
Years listening to this song, and just literally realized a girl also sings it
Alison Mosshart on the back vocals!
wasn't she in a Cage the Elephant song?
yes, she was
I dont like her voice at all
@@fastndd what? listen to her performance of Paris Summer with Alex (TLSP)
and you're splashing in my eyelids
dance little alex and this book reveals your face!! Poetry.
Alex Turner + Alison Mosshart + Beer = Epic Morning
This album is the sort of album you start out not liking at all but then gradually love it more an more everytime you listen to it and there's no limit to how much you love it. I can listen to this all day and not get bored of it, in fact I'll feel like I can't go on without listening to it
I love the lead guitar's tone on this song, especially the solo.
I love this LP even more than the first two! I simply can't wait for the fourth album to come out!
So how did you like "suck it and see"?
so... what your opinions on all the other albums released after this ? now that it's been 11 years since you commented this
I love to see how they've lyrically improved over the 3 albums, I still haven't seen them live though :(
Terriffic fierce track from Humbug their finest experimental album that raised the bar, I happen to like all their albums for the record, they are The Arctic Monkeys after all really.
I love the "Come on Alex!" at 3:15.
I got to see them again this month! And if that's not amazing, they played with Foo Fighters! Best night of my life.
absolutely! you're falling in love with humbug day by day, song by song...
I swear to this day that they made album this album for people that are high. So good.
everything homme touches turns to gold x
i love the 'oooh oooh ooooh' at the beginning!
2:50 sounds like an elephant
Aaron Betts this was first.
lol
I've always imagined an elephant screaming at that point ahaha
Nice to know I'm not the only one
Aaron Betts does anyone know what it really is?
me too . reminds me of the doors. come to think of it turner is quite like jim morrison with his voice and poetic lyrics. this album especially.
A masterpiece ❤️
Probably the best song on the Humbug album.
This song is so underestimated ❤️
Ahhhhh Good old Humbug times...
Brilliance :) Love it, one of the best on the album x
The 54 ppl who disliked are people who were dancing and accidentally hit the thumbs down.
this whole album is beautiful.
Oh my god, when I first heard that song I thought the same! AND YOU ARE RIGHT! IT'S SO AWESOME OMG
Love from the first listening.
Humbug. Best CD ever.
Backvoices are amazing)
Goosebumps
humbug is my favorite, by far!
Gods of harmonising.
Yay, so cool how they got Alison Mosshart joining at the end ^^
Holy shit, I got high listening to this album last night and replayed this song probably 10 times. Next day I smoke again, youtube the song, and read this haha. Fuckin perrrrfect.
great song great album great band
good album good band. Saw them three times in Florida.
♥ it. and the ending is one of my favourite songendings. if there's anything like favourite songendings. :D
aww alexa and alex..
Livelovelifeeleni Positivity&Motivation♥☮ no
Mosshart's vocals and Homme's guitars really make this song fucking awesome.
best album ever
pure class
the best song of humbug
la mejor cancion de humbug los voyyyyy ir a ver uhhhhhhh!!!!!!
Best Song Ever (:
awsome song one of the best
holy fucking shit. i am getting emotionally attached to this song
Best advice i ever got smoke pot and listen to Fire and the Thud
@mahavishnuxc yes, humbug is brilliant, the darkness and moody aura is amazing, but no need to say it's better than any other of their albums. the indie power rock of 'Whatever people say I am, that's what I'm not' will never be reached, but it's a different genre. again: both are brilliant, just in different ways.
dedicate this song to ur gal
Did someone dedicate this to you
Carson Graef i wish
Sofia Mastro I would but someone else wrote it
Sofia Mastro I would dedicate this song to you
man... just put headphones on. listen. smoke. watch the sunrise.
Arctic Queens of the Monkey
Right?!?! They're just wonderful.
Am I the only one that feels like this song sounds eerily similar to "Gimme Shelter" from The Rolling Stones? Especially the intro with those hunting vocals
tell me where, i'll meet you there
Nice Effects on the solo.
Certanejo europeu de ótima qualidade.
I love the lyrics
Thank you Josh Homme
I fucking love this album! I've yet to fault ANYTHING they have ever written
Most of the Humbug album talks about the problems with Alexa Chung, when she left Alex's side beacuse of her new show. Pretty visitors actually is about how Alex didn't liked boys flirting with his girl.C:
2020 again
0 to 2.40 fucking brilliant, but after that, words can't describe how good it is!
0:01 sounds like tsukema tsukeru lmao
Man i feel exactly the same way
Photobooth’s a liar
What can i say? , I have 21 years old and I met a girl for about a week of classes and I could say that I love her, both flirted and today (Friday, end of the week since I met her) I discovered that he is dating someone else.I feel that right now my mind is this: The fire and the thud + The less I know the better (Tame Impala)
Also i would love to say this to her:
"The day after you stole my heart,
Everything I touched told me it would be better shared with you
And you're hiding in my soup And the book reveals your face"
Anyone else feel the same?
+Dominic Meza Wong are you better now? I'm worried
+Mariia Panchenko i mean i just ok. weeks have passed but what did she expect?
I probably still adore her with your hands around my neck (in my imagination)Or I did last time I checked.
+Mariia Panchenko thanks for asking by the way
I know you thought she were different and you thought she were nice. But she's not nice, she's pretty fucking far from nice. She’s looking at you funny rarely looking at you twice
+Mariia Panchenko well, i know she is not nice but
I've been feeling foolish
You should try it
She came and substituted
The peace and quiet for
Acrobatic blood flow
Concertina cheating heart beat
Rapid fire!!!
At first I didn't like Humbug, but then I really started to get into it.
@upbomb Hahah, yes, I have, they came to Argentina in 2007, but by that time humbug wasn't released yet. They're awesome live! Hope you have the chance to see them!
FAntastica
magnifica cancion
Just the other day did I realize that "The" is in fact im the song's title.
The day after you stole my heart, everything I touched told me, it would be better shared with you
