If he makes the team he will probably be assigned to the practice squad. Maybe QB3 at best. Could have a chance at QB2 backing up Purdy in the 2025 season if he pans out.
No change he go in practice squad if he plays well during training camp & preseason, he’ll be on the active roster

He's got the right size, 6'2", 218#. Seems fast enough, ran the 40 in 4.46 seconds. Seems mobile with good arm strength. If he's THAT good, why wasn't he drafted? 32 teams passed on him 7 times. So, what are we missing?
He didn’t beat out higher level of competition, and needs to improve touch.
@@Wizez I was watching a video from after the 2000 NFL Draft. Bill Walsh and Steve Mariucci (both "quarterback gurus") were asked why they didn't draft Tom Brady. Mariucci: "slowest 40 for a QB in the history of the combine. He's got a body that looks like he's never been in a weight room and he has a weak arm. Nothing indicated that Tom Brady had the ability to ever be an NFL QB." What they can never measure is heart and smarts. The GOAT fooled 'em all and though Bill Belichick takes the credit for having the "foresight" to draft him, the truth is, the Pats tripped over a rock and discovered it was a 200# piece of gold. Brady ran the 40 in 5.28 seconds at the combine. Mariucci said that their 3rd round draft pick for a QB, Giovanni Carmazzi, could have walked it faster. You never know.

Wisconsin fan here! We definitely enjoyed Tanner this year and he’s a talented QB, but unless he’s able to significantly improve his arm strength I don’t think he can ever be a starting franchise QB. Fun NFL backup though? For sure
Think truly this maybe a good unsigned hype and fits in Kyle system quick thinker seems very athletic and have good height to see field hopefully he makes the team if not practice squad good info Wise!

I think this guy's ability and measurements are equivalent to Steve Young's. Now if he had the brains like Young, and with good play calling, he's going to be ok.

Maybe after he gets signed off 49ers. Purdy is a top 10 qb. Although I love this pickup.
@@megilacuttyjones735Purdy is not special by any means. He’s a Tier 3 qb at best. He does the job but, doesn’t go beyond that. He was picked last for a reason. He was almost an UDFA. This guy is Purdy-esc but has a stronger arm and is faster than Purdy. The 49ers tend to love their backup qbs more than they like their starters.

@@valdoggoldnot special? Are you a 49er fan? He led our 49ers to win the NFC championship then to the SB in his first full year playing for the 9ers. He’s only just begun.
They probably picked him cuz he maxed out his eligibility and played alot of games. So experience is important for Shanahan. Purdy played all four years in college.
