Wishing my dad and grandad was alive to see this sort of collection of steam vehicles they would have enjoyed it very much rip both of them much missed
Another 20 min video that took me an hour and a half to watch because of all the pauses I do to admire these magnificent machines. Cant imagine all the work that goes into the restoration and maintenance of these. They look brand new! Thanks John.
John, this was fascinating to watch. About the 5 minute mark, the announcer stated that the machine coming through was from Thetford in Norfolk. I attended Thetford Preparatory School during early 60's while father was at Mildenhall Air Force Base. Thank you for the video and brought back wonderful memories. 👍
Lovely, I sat behind a living wagon being drawn by steam on my way home from work this evening. It was on the A272 in East Sussex. There was not one driver that did not have a smile on their face whilst trundling behind it at about 12 miles an hour 👍🏻
Thanks for posting John, I thought I'd mention I work at BSC Bilston formally Stuart & Lloyds and Tarmac was right next door and not by accident the slag left over from the steel making precess was taken next door to Tarmac were it was used in tarmac process.
It was a cracking day, when you were setting the little engines up for running I was going to shout 'Not bad for a mechanic that pisses about' but there were a few kiddies watching.
When I was a little boy in the early fifties I must've seen that Emerson & Hazzard Galloping Horses Showman's engine, they came to Kendal for the old hiring fairs. Brilliant
It seems in your footage of these events that there are a significant number of "rollers". I would expect tractors and trucks to be more prevalent. Is my assumption incorrect? Were rollers produced/used that much more? Or are they more readily available today for restoration than other vehicles?
At 11.52 I recognised the brass star(s) that you made earlier in the year John! Anyone else spot it? Wish we had steam rallies here in Essex or at least the Home Counties. Great vidjayo as your mate AvE would say!
Nice to see a bit of steam action John. My local steam rally has been postponed ‘til 2022. Do you think in 120 years time they'll have petrol rallies full of Ford Mondeo’s and Corsa? The kids'll be riding round on hover bikes powered by nothing more than humus and kind thoughts. Thanks for the footage.

Absolutely marvelous footage. For those of us who have nothing like this within reasonable travel distance, thank you!

Great photography John, you earned a beer or two that day, as did all the others.
Thanks for sharing.

Incredible machines and so well maintained. When will UA-cam provide the smell as a part of video?

I guess back in the day it was a bit more complicated to "take a spin around the block" than now. Great footage and great heritage there.
Cracking footage as always mate. We had a cracking day out
