For anyone wondering how DMC combo system works, let me out it this way, the more you slow it tf down mentally and treat each move as its own seperate movement instead of all in one, you'll find out Alot of hidden combos. But for those needing million stabs, heres a hint: It takes place after the second strike and his sword is behind him. Its also a button masher. But don't move forward. Only do forward when you need a stinger.

Okay. So I'm streaming DMC HD collection and I'm stuck at this mission. (I play normal) How the hell can I make bigger fire balls and throw sparta? Also, CAN I HIT BACK THE DRAGONS FIRE BALLS WHICH GIVES IT INSTA DIE??? AND ALSO MODUS?? How the hell I did not know this? I called three friends of mine who played dmc 1 and they said they did the mission from pure luck.
Hold the shoot button to charge your fireballs and hold the attack button to charge the Sparda throw attack. If these aren't working, it's possible you need to buy these moves from the shop - I never actually tested this! The fireballs would be Meteor (under Ifrit) and throwing the sword would be Round Trip (under Alastor).

This mission is never a fun on Dmd but very nicely done accountingNightmare! Juggernaut, While that black aura is surrounding you, you basically have permanent guard if I recall correctly. So any hit against you acts as if you blocked it, not a royal block mind you.
AccountingNightmare ok thank both of you it helps. I’m actually learning how to use royalgaurd it’s so much fun using it against a blitz I actually enjoy it it’s slowly becoming one of my Favorite styles. Thank you both very much and accountingnightmare you are the queen of Devil May cry!

Ik im late lol but whatever, how do you consistently get the double damage on the dragon dt attack in the first phase, from watching you play I assume its just getting it lined up with his center but I feel I've done that loads of times and it rarely worked.
It's about using the DT Dragon at certain times in his patterns! I've forgotten most of the timings because it's been too long since I learned them, but this page has lots of info on it: devils-lair.org/mundus1.php
@@AccountingNightmare I just finally defeated Mundus and also completed the game last night on Dante Must Die mode. And man I tell you, this bastard was the hardest of all bosses to defeat.I used the untouchable item at the very last moment when Mundus's vitality health bar was at a very low rate.Sometimes you have to close in on him and attack with the sword by jumping on the earth platforms to get to him in deviltrigger form. It's what I've did when using the untouchable at the very last moment.
@@AccountingNightmareLmao. I even felt kind of lucky to have defeated him at that time.He did summon the fire dragon when he didn't have that much vitality health left before he was getting ready to perform the raining fireballs barrage. And I even had a little bit of health left straight when I defeated him.
Hi! That's a Round Trip. Hold the sword button and Dante should do a throwing pose. Release the button to throw it. I'm not sure if you need to buy the Round Trip move for Alastor to unlock this for Sparda, though!
It's Vortex - a move you do while using Air Raid. In this fight, you just press a button to do it. I believe it was the sword button? It's been a while though.
Took me a year back in the day to finish this on DMD mode. I kept coming back and doing more after leaving it for a few weeks, the parts I got stuck on the most were the secret mission where you need to fight 2 shadow beast things at a time and the spawned like 6 I think in a row, nightmare last battle and mundus himself gave me an ass kicking 😂I was determined to do it tho when I saw in a gaming magazine you would unlock super Dante with no explanation of what that was I needed to know and I couldn't just Google it bc no one had the Internet back then, not even sure if Google existed 😂. IMHO its the hardest one as you can't use an already built up character with everything collected to do higher difficulties you had to start a brand new game plus you can hold less items on higher diffs which makes it infinitely harder than the rest! I think you could only hold 1 of each item as opposed to 30 healing items on the newer games.
I've been trying to avoid that fireball thingy and failed every single time, now you're telling me that i can actually counter it?? Oh God that's gonna make things a lot easier
Good luck! :) The timing on the counter combo is different depending on how many fireballs he's shooting so it still takes some practice, but it does some nice damage to him!
@@AccountingNightmare After beating him 2 weeks ago, i can say that countering that is waay easier than avoiding it, although i get some damage as well because i didn't counter all of it but at least i did some decent damage. Untouchable, devil star, and vital star did the rest
I didn't know that you could deflect those fireballs Mundus hurls at you when battle against him in the lava pit.The only thing that I ever did was dodge them several times.I'm gonna give it a try to see if that works.I'm currently trying to beat the game by playing it on the Dante Must Die difficulty on the ps4 console version.I'm still on mission 17 where you fight against Nelo Angelo for the 3rd time.
can you tell me how many minutes the mission needs to be finished to get rank S? I made it in 9:35, and I got an A, I believe it needs to be finished in less than 9:30
I'm not too sure honestly! According to this page, the time requirement for this mission is 8:00 on DMD: devilmaycry.fandom.com/wiki/Devil_May_Cry_S_Rank_Requirements But my time was 9:13, so I'm not sure how that worked out. This Reddit thread talks more about how it's calculated, and it looks like some kind of points system. www.reddit.com/r/DevilMayCry/comments/3yf97h/about_a_year_ago_i_figured_dmc1s_ranking_system/ Following the points system, I went over 8 minutes by more than 30 seconds but by less than 2 minutes, so 200 points Checking the video, I took near lethal damage in Phase 2, so for damage taken it should have been: 0 points No item usage (including yellow orbs) means no points penalty -0 points I needed 700 points to get the S-rank on DMD. I'm not sure where the other points came from. The red orbs category maybe? The red orbs requirement is apparently 0 for this mission. I'm not sure how that works though. Is that just 500 free points no matter what on this mission? That would explain my S-rank I suppose. I'm not sure why you only got an A though. Did you use any items or yellow orbs?
@@AccountingNightmare I believe you got an S Rank even though you finished in 9:13 because you got a small amount of orbs, it was the dragon's orb, when you have full life and you get an green orb, it becomes an red orb, But I got S rank, finished in 7:50, I think if you get orbs, mission time for rank S decreases
I didn't know about that double hit trick in the first half of the fight. I'll keep that in mind when I finish playing through the game again. Also, is it just me, or did this game get a visual downgrade? I was playing on the PS3 HD version a few weeks ago, and it didn't look nearly as... flat
It's definitely not a perfect port compared to the old PS2 version. Not sure what's in the PS3 version that isn't in this version though. The PS3 did have a visual bug in the Mundus 2 fight (one of his attacks was actually invisible) so they fixed that at least!
I know that the motion blur used in the PS2 version for Dante's movement, the Devil Trigger, transformations, charge up attacks (like Mundus' white death beam), weapon switching, etc, is present in the PS3 version. I think also the runes you fire at Mundus during the first phase of the fight rotate like they do in the PS2 version, but I'd have to double check that. Also, there seems to be more ambient fog in the places that had it, the sky was the way it was supposed to be, and the water looked right. Didn't know that Mundus Fight 2 had an invisible attack. Must have missed it. I'll have to check it to confirm.
I really miss the motion blur/after-image effect for Dante's movement. I don't remember most of those other effects. It's been too long! Yeah I wish the port was more accurate in terms of visuals. There's also some music that doesn't loop properly. The invisible attack is the vertical slice/shockwave attack Mundus sends out from his hands.
Huh, I don't even remember that attack. I'll keep my eyes peeled. Also, Never found any audio glitches (as far as I remember) in the PS3 version. I'll have to double check, but yeah. Though, if there's one thing I'm glad the ports have, it's that they fixed the controls so it's more in line with the rest of the series (IE, jumping is the X/A button on the Playstation and Xbox respectively), cause, I won't lie, it's JARRING going back to the PS2 version. BTW, dumb question, but are you super excited about DMC5? I know I am, especially with the prospect of the 3rd playable character, and what his gameplay is rumored to be.
I checked some videos because I couldn't remember but it looks like the audio looping problems are in the PS3 version too. You can hear it here: ua-cam.com/video/in_ONAU1Y_Q/v-deo.html The music for Mission 23 doesn't loop smoothly. It just stops for several full seconds before kicking back in. Yeah I agree, I hated that the controls for DMC1 were different for no reason. And yeah, I'm super excited for DMC5. :)
Hey there, i know this is slightly off-topic but is your health bar maxed in this video? I've done all secret missions & got all blue orb fragments &.. Bought all blue orbs from the shop, i think my health bar is the same as yours *but* neither has that upper bar go as far right as the bottom one. Is it supposed to be this way? Maybe my memory is messing with me quz i could've sworn i saw a video with the bar stretched just as far as the other
I do know the upper health bar is starting a little to the left of the bottom one as well, maybe that's what's causing the illusion that it ain't maxed.
I think it's the Attack button? It's been a while so I don't remember exactly which button. It's a simple button press though so just try them all if that doesn't work. :)

You got lucky & I'm not saying that to make you feel bad or anything. You have to get lucky to beat this on DMD because it's all up to RNG for what moves Mundus does. On multiple occasions, when I got close to beating him, Mundus would spam the meteor rain move 3 times & summon the orbs to shoot at me & would die. You managed to get him to punch the air at the begging of his second phase for crying out loud. There's so much more wrong with this but I can't get into it all in a single comment. I'm so glad that I have all the S ranks so I don't have any reason to go back to this part of the game ever again... until I get it on ps4. Then I'll have to do it again for a 3rd time.
There's no way to defeat this boss ( literally) expect being not lucky but ( so lucky ) I'm trying to beat him now for 3 days and there's no way, I can only beat the first phase though it's very long , but the second phase is just very bad , system on this game is not made very well , I tried to get used to his moves and attacks but I have noticed that whenever you fight him he literally does ( Random moves ) he doesn't do anything in order , normally bosses does attacks in order so that you can get used to it and then know how to fight , this system is doing random moves and what is the most frustrating thing is that 1 hit costs you your life , the hits are insanely strong , sometimes when you do a certain attacks the system just doesn't reply very well like hitting his white balls etc , I've seen people beating him on yt but we all know deep down that it took from them months to do this and they can't do it again as they know deep down they got insanely lucky with it, I'm sure that munds on dmc HD collection is more harder than the munds on normal dmc , but despite all of this I'll keep trying to beat him ill never give up , I just know deep down that it doesn't need any skills but luck 💔
He does require a lot of luck and I don't think he's a very well-designed boss. Skill definitely helps as well though. For instance, when you're reflecting the white balls back at him, the timing is different depending on how many he's shooting at you, so try to be consistent with how many you destroy. But yeah, the sheer randomness of this fight REALLY sucks. 🙁 And the randomness on if he gives you the health-refill dragon is AWFUL. I wish you the best of luck!
Yeah, pressing the Devil Trigger button in this section fires off a dragon. Because....... I dunno. Because it's cool I guess? The more Devil Trigger you have when you press the button, the more damage the dragon does!
@@AccountingNightmare No. I mean the damage value difference, all enemies and bosses do 20% more damage on the NTSC PS2 version. Not only that, but bosses seem to do more attacks and have different AI behaviour (more aggressive), + taunting always gives you 1 DT rune whilst on HD it gives you 2. Orb spawn rates have been changed too, green orbs are far more likely to spawn and refill a lot of health, amongst other things. Dante does 0.8x damage on Normal and Hard mode, as opposed to 1 (100%) on Japanese. Therefore, NTSC Hard could be considered harder than DMD in some cases, since Dante does 1 damage there, so enemies die quicker than on Hard (before they DT, that is). But enemy DT really isn't a problem on DMD anyway. The HD collection has some custom changes from the Japanese release, so it's even easier. I've yet to figure these out, since several people have pointed it out and did some analysis. I will be doing a full-on difficulty comparison someday, I'm already recording the HD footage. The ranking system also seems more lenient, I have used a Yellow orb in at least one mission and still got an S rank. Never happened on my recent DMD all-S playthrough on NTSC.
@@AccountingNightmare Update: I was wrong about attacks missing, however, boss and enemy behaviour is far more aggressive on PS2. On HD, Nelo Angelo 3 keeps throwing fireballs 70-80% of the time (all of which give you an opportunity to strike) or teleporting away to do his aerial attacks, giving you free shots, which is far easier.

As much as I love the series this is my least favorite Dante Must Die mowed and that's probably because of how basic the combo system was and Limited moveset. Also the camera didn't really help
Ironic that the latest DMC versions (except reboot) has style switch which made dante have a lot of moves.
The toned down combat ability was unique.
Instant kill hits and the like to balance it? That's what made it hard.
Just wantedto leave a thanks. Was giving me trouble, but got my Platinum on playstation after this lad.
Staying busy with damage is really important, my fights were grinding toooooo long. Bless up lad
I can't wait to see you play through DMC 5
This is the Devil Trigger I expected to get when completed DMD. If only there was mission select mode so that I could play this mission again.
I did this campaign in a bunch of hours 3-4 on dmd and I'm stuck here...i have like 98 yellow masks and some items to help but i don't like the flying balls that shoot's you also like the red things he throws you from his back...what a pain

The shotgun can help you a lot against the orbs but it's still a matter of well calculated timing.
@@ps4games164 my main issue is when i drop him to like 30hp, like with the red health bar. I got him to 5 hp and he spammed the meteors at me so i had to run around and dodge them, and right after he did that he spawned the orbs, i got like a peck of damage in. And then he literally, no bullshit spammed the meteors back to back 3 fucking times. like literally spawning them as i was dodging others, so there was literally nothing i could do but wait until i slip up and one kills me.
I know this is old but how did you do the fireball move using Sword of sparda? And how do you even use devil trigger with that sword?
Devil Trigger for the Sparda sword is only usable in this fight! The fireball I think was the shoot button. Hold it to charge!
hate to admit it but this fight is honestly gonna make me quit dmc 1 i just can't get past his 2nd phase on dmd idk why its just like nothing is working ill spend so long getting him to half just to get hit once and lose half my health

its air raid i believe, on ps4 you just hold/tap triangle on time
It's Vortex - a move you do while using Air Raid. In this fight, you just press a button to do it. I believe it was the sword button? It's been a while though.

I can’t S rank this mission so matter how hard I try in dmd.
I'm sorry to hear that! It's a brutal one. This took me TONS of attempts.
Untouchable, devil star, and vital star did the rest

can you tell me how many minutes the mission needs to be finished to get rank S? I made it in 9:35, and I got an A, I believe it needs to be finished in less than 9:30
I'm not too sure honestly! According to this page, the time requirement for this mission is 8:00 on DMD: devilmaycry.fandom.com/wiki/Devil_May_Cry_S_Rank_Requirements
But my time was 9:13, so I'm not sure how that worked out.
This Reddit thread talks more about how it's calculated, and it looks like some kind of points system. www.reddit.com/r/DevilMayCry/comments/3yf97h/about_a_year_ago_i_figured_dmc1s_ranking_system/
Following the points system, I went over 8 minutes by more than 30 seconds but by less than 2 minutes, so
200 points
Checking the video, I took near lethal damage in Phase 2, so for damage taken it should have been:
0 points
No item usage (including yellow orbs) means no points penalty
-0 points
I needed 700 points to get the S-rank on DMD.

How can I do million stab on ps4 please help me
I didn't know about that double hit trick in the first half of the fight.
Yeah my health bar is maxed out!@@IdkAkaIdk
How do I charge the fire ball
Hold the shoot button
How the hell did you do that spin to avoid his ulti on his first stage?

It's the Sparda sword! You get it at the start of Mission 18.
Heart attack the gameplay
This is an awesome boss on easy mode.
3:11 wtf? A dragon?
Yeah, pressing the Devil Trigger button in this section fires off a dragon. Because....... I dunno. Because it's cool I guess? The more Devil Trigger you have when you press the button, the more damage the dragon does!

Do you mean because of the speed difference? This is the HD PC version, which runs full-speed.
@@VergilHiltsLT Oh I didn't know any of this! Very interesting. I'd love to see your full comparison when it's done!
@@VergilHiltsLT Thanks for the effort you're putting in to compare and research this!
Not to flex or anything but I beat mundus with 1 try
On DMD??

This game is really bad. This boss fight is the worst in the series. DMC2 considered.
