Thanks for putting this video up and the information. My caravan dealer told me when I asked that I could plug an unregulated solar panel into the aux Anderson plug so I have been plugging in my 200w solar blanket unregulated into this plug! It registers on my BMPro Trek display as an AUX input. Ive done it a few times but from now on I'll make sure its regulated. I was going to get an external Anderson plug fitted but was told this would be fine. Ive got an MPPT regulator for the blanket so should be fine now that I know. Hopefully no damage has been done to the BMPro but it seems to be working fine. Thanks again.
I’m sure it’s fine, it would have gone already if not….. it’s fairly easy to add a second unregulated solar input to your Bm35 as the terminals are already there, just requires the Anderson and a couple of spade terminals, that way your bmpro will calculate it correctly and the MPPT controller is inbuilt ;)
I agree. There is a second connection on my BMPRO for unregulated solar panel. Our dealer ran wires from the BMPRO to a new anderson plug on the chassis.
I have a Aus Caravan here in NZ with a BMPRO 35 HA . I have 2x roof solar but need more Power so , I connected a portable solar panel to my Aux plug ,Both unregulated and regulated and it did NOT show up on the Trek display. ( In Aux as per the Tow Vehicle ), was told by BMPRO agent ,here not to do that , its a real pain to access the BMPRO in Caravan and run wires out of sight ( its installed in overhead cabinets ) , its disappointing the Van manufactures don,t run a conduit pipe so extra wires can be run , if i can,t get to it ? , i will go straight to batteries with a regulated panel via a Anderson plug set up , i wont use a BMPRO 300 shunt ,as they cost a arm and Leg over here NZ $650
Yes, I agree, the caravan manufacturers do not build the vans to be future proof at all, to be honest im not a fan of the BM Pro system anyway and have now upgraded my system, I still use the bm pro to check my water levels and control my lighting and as a 240 volt charger, but all my solar needs are now taken care of via Victron, luckily Franklin ran 12mm cable to my solar panel which meant I didnt need to run extra wires :)
Correct, there is a second solar input connection on the BMPRO which enables you to use an unregulated panel, it’s a fairly simple job, I posted a video showing it :)
Just check when you pick up the van because I got the dealer to install an anderson plug for solar and lucky I check prior to pluging in my unregulated solar panel and found they wired the plug directly to the battery which would have cooked the battery, I got them to rewire it to the bmpro solar input which is what they should have done in the first place.

@@Richard-Tanya Thank you, I will look at doing that as that sounds like a better solution. Cheers.

Van currently on Factory order are going to wire in a Ando for my external Solar panels to the BMPRO.
