Definitely trailer it down, the bite will probably get better when the water warms up even more. Spanish Mackerel are delicious, not like the other Macs at all, not to me or the family anyway. Email me and I will send the numbers.
That is the approximate area where I caught the Porgy, hard to hide when you see the landscape. We were on my friends boat and he had marks in the area, I am gonna have to steal some of those numbers LOL.
Thank you for letting me know. I did some research and you were right. Never thought I would get them nearshore like that. Are they measured to the fork or the tail? Wouldn’t want to keep if not supposed to.
Yes fork of tail like tuna. Yes they are inshore I cought a big one a mile out of belmar inlet jigging and numerous ones around the Klondike and axle Carlson trolling for bonito
Nice day you cook up those mackerel? May have to trail the boat down your way soon!!! Great vid!!!

How do you tell the difference, the spots were yellow at first and then started to turn a little green. I thought Kings were wavy in side pattern?
I believe you are right, the lateral line has a more pronounced dip. Juvenile King Mackerel. I will correct the title.
I've caught a few in New Jersey over the years. They both have the spots but kings have much lighter spots. Great fish regardless!!!
