Why no discussion of gradient? Meanders will form in bedrock, when the gradient is low. Seems to me that you're leaving some key information on the table here.

you make a good point. I am trying to make this simple for my students. I know there is greater complexity, but in the interests of simplifying some things might get skipped. Thanks for the clarification.
