Well, I can say that Gerber has fixed the problem the the pommel, but the serration constituted a big issue for me personally. For $60.00 MSRP, (I paid $50) you get a Whistle, Sharpening Stone, Fire Starter, Knife, and a Sheath that I believe is a step backwards from the LMF2. While some people are going to hate this knife others will love it. I say, it was not bad. I think if we dumped the serrations and focused on something more rugged to include the sheath we would be at a better place, but there are a lot of options for this price point.

I usually use that method. I realize that it eventually will convex the edge, but I'm a fan of convex edges, so thats not an issue. Thanks for watching
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video! Be safe

Dude, I like your videos. More importantly, I think you are a gentleman for the way you handle dislikes of your videos. Good luck and thanks for your advice.
I just got this for Christmas and I like it so far, I havent had a chance to test it yet.
lol, I hear you! I do a review, like the product and have to have it. Thanks for watching!
-Adam
welcome, I understand its an info vid...in most cases train as you do in real world situation, I was training the RSAF (Royal saudi AF)in survival refresher...I sometimes use videos to make my point. I like the testing and info you put out, Cheers
Went to Sports Authority today and got this knife, had to get this knife, I love watching Man vs. Wild! Can't wait to try it out fully! Love this knife, highly recommended!
Nice review!! Hopefully Gerber will listen to your suggestions and make this knife better!!
Welcome and thank you!
-Adam
Nice video and very informative!
@ZoroSnipez ,yes, testing out the section of the spine designed for this task. Using your your knife on a firesteel is very common place and works very well as long as there is a good angle on the spine, the coasting does not interfere and the metal is of significant hardness.
Ill just stick to my esee 5 however this was a very informative review very honest and unbiased you have earned a subscriber!
I love you you split the long with another piece of wood. Love your videos too!
I've got the nonserated version. It was dull to my standards. I put an edge on it and really like it for camping and fishing. I prefer my esee and kbar for survival. I have the lmf 2 which is a good knife too. I carried a sog seal team in Iraq and I love those knives. Thanks for your efforts.
I just bought the fine edge version its amazing defiantly should do a review on that
Yet another awesome review
Thank you for this video...best on youtube for this knife
Finally someone shedding some light on this thing! Thanks for making this. I've had my eye on this thing like everybody else, but also shared the same doubts. I'm totally with you on the issue of the serrations. IMO serrations have no business on a survival blade in particular or on outdoor knives in general; I just don't find them useful in any worthwhile way. I've found that the factory edge from Gerber is generally disappointing, but I like the design - just wouldn't trust my life to it.
@Equip2Endure this is the reason why I only watch your videos compare to the rest. you don't do the name calling etc you see in other channels. you rock adam :D. Im a city folk but after seen what happened in Louisiana it hit me, no matter where you are you have to be prepare. (inject E2E slogan here) :)
Nice video. Im thinking about buying that.
thank you very much, your review is super good and you are really cool guy ! respect from Italy !
you can tell if its a bad one because the orange stripe above the pommel. if its a new one it gets thicker towards the back of the knife -if its an old one its thinner and the same thickness all the way around. its a great knife i love mine
Adam just subscribed to the channel really liking the content in it. Couldn't help but notice that it said survival training, on your intro, & it looked like you were directing a class, so i was wondering if you do teach classes & if so were? Hopefully is near to were i live. Thanks.
@TheBluepaint , This knife does not meet my personal standards at the moment, hopefully improved models will be released.
- Adam
i liked it because it was a kit
the firesteel worked flawlessly
the saw edge is not the best for sawing but then again- its a knife
@faithkeep, the first versions are sold out from last year. Anything new in the store should be good.
@Xahron
I notice you cant wait to try it our AND you highly recommend it. On what basis do you recommend it? This video and others like it?
just got it a couple weeks ago, but haven't begun testing yet
Here here! I was beginning to think I was the only one who not only liked but preferred serrations,
Hi Adam, i'm from germany and i am glad, that i could get a becker bk2 (there's only one german internet-store where i could buy it) - i had a bg ultimate knife, so i could compare theses two knifes. There's no comparison - the bk2 is the best bushcraft knife i've ever seen.
@2KARGARAGE , The E2E Team, this includes myself and a few others behind the scene to include members of my website that give me feedback, assistance and information; plethora of different sources.

I like the glock81 very much. I have it attached on my 5.11 rush 24 backpack that I use when hunting. The plastic sheath is great with the click system, there is no way the knife can fall out, so you can have it attached upside down if u like. I use the knife mostly for clearing branches that are in the way. I also have the Cold Steel bushman, but I like Glock better, because the handle feels better when chopping. The con is rusting of the knife. For the price I say buy it, if army uses it..
I like the test you did with the Knife. Just one think. I'm testing if the blade is sharp enought on my hand - trying to shave it. It is because not all types of steel can make angle (by sharpenign) which is able to shave. And i was able to shave hand with this knife and it was the first think i tryed with it.
With paper test you are not able to compare other knifes, unless you have all the time the same type of paper.
PS: Thanx for this video.
had this knife out in the bush for an hour and it snapped while makeing a shelter. waste of money, for 60 bucks, id pay 5 dollars more and get the cold steel srk its a great knife, you should do a review on it someday. your videos tell you what you want to know about these knifes and im a fan keep up the good work
Its still good after chopping, I love mine
He's accomplished quite a lot, I love the fact that people judge a guy based on an entertainment show.
@EmptyScorn , We do love our BK-2s!
- Adam
hmmmmmmm looks cool
great job!!!
Hey Mr.Euip Endure. I was a small knife collector as a child, Swiss army, etc...now older and getting back into it, your videos are amazing.... Recently purchased an esee for edc and I'm looking for a knife to use as an all around camping, hunting knife. I love this esee but I'm torn between the bk2 and esee 5, I want something 1/4 thick and love both of those designs. Just worried about the slippage of the bk 2 sheath... Thank for reading my comment!!
I laughed my ass off the whole video. The fact that you didn't say "this knife SUCKS" the whole video is impressive.
@ArmyStinger150 , Yes the chameleon 2 I believe. Great shoes.
- Adam
@joeclapper , Was it an older one? I hope the pommel is not a random issue. Let me know,
- Adam
serrations are allways a great tool especially for long term use when your blade gets dull
i saw a video where the tip brakes man i so dissapointed it was weak peace of trash i need to look for something like this knife but of good quality thanx for your help guys
@gavkoo From all the wearing of the knife I did this summer the angle isnt for sharpening its for ease of carry against the case and leg ... the angle actually matches the path from the tip to he handle so the sheath doesnt fold into the blade and warp the sheath too much, making it uncomfortable. With the diamond stone attached to the scabbard it can be set at ANY angle you choose by using your leg and the rest of the sheath.
@MrAdcomedy really thats cool and how well does it hold an edge and when it does get dull how is it sharping with the sheath ?
hey there. great review. i know their cheap knives and all but what is your take on the remington fast fixed blade knives?
Please check out the ultimate PRO; it has no serrations,a finger choil, and much more
Of coarse serious knife enthusiasts dis this knife. I didnt like it much myself, however, I think that for the target demo this is a good knife as has been mentioned above-it saves a life! Most weekend warriors simply aren't willing to pay big bucks nor have the basic survival skills but in a bind they will have some great info and basic life saving tools to get them through a bad situation. All in one cheap and easy to get package.
thank god i got one for my birthday in October
@EmptyScorn , We love our BK-2!
while drying out your wood, its good to stack the wood because the snow and wet dirt will steam and fill your wood with moisture.
what knife whould you prefer? LMF 2 or this one? By the way, you`ve got a new subscriber
I'm new in knives... what do you suggest me : the plain edge or the one with the serration? I will use it not often. Thank you for the time to reply, best ,Alessandro
Bought myself one of the BG Ultimate Survival knives for my birthday. Like it so far, but the real test of field usage will have to wait until spring or summer (camping season). Good ergonomic feel to the knife, edge needed touched up a bit to achieve its full potential for sharpness.
BTW, it's Ferrocerium rod.(ferro-CER-ee-um)... an alloy of Iron (Fe, atomic number 26) and Cerium (Ce, atomic number 58), plus a sprinkling of rare earth metals. It's not ferroceum, ferrocium, ferroseeum, etc.
hey Adam how many more videos are before your deatailed cut test of the convexed bk-2 (my favorite knife ever!!!)
thanks, muk
@mnkys0n , Yeah I know, lol getting over a cold. I wanted to edit it out but then said what the heck.
- Adam
@Equip2Endure.... By the way I really think you have one of the BEST channels on UA-cam!!
@TheMicroknight , Yes, please!
- Adam
@Eddy120876 , I try, being fair and objective is one of the E2E Goals. Gerber could have a great product here, and really continue the forward momentum of products for us wilderness survival and bush craft folks.
- Adam
@princejeff37 , I hope so, I really like Gerber, they have some great products.
- Adam
@Survivalwithaknife , no problem. :)
Adam.
Nice story bro :) I just picked mine up from amazon let's hope i dont get myself in that situation :)
Seems there is a new Version of this knife in 2012 WITHOUT Serrations!!!
Please make a Test/ Review of this one, too!!!
Thanks and great work so far!
@Equip2Endure Yeah, they are great shoes, I have the chameleon 3s...I love them!
@Equip2Endure What knives would you suggest as superior alternatives that are similar to this one?
can you make a video on the new gerber dmf maual folding knife -modified clip point version
its wired my BG scout floder came razor sharp and i touch it up and its still razor sharp
my BG compact flixed blade is dull like the knife in ur video and it dosent sharpen up as good
hello
i would like to know which knife is best in terms of sharpness and reliability
gerber bear grylls scout folding knife
gerber bear grylls ultimate knife(1 in video)
gerber bear grylls scout clip folding knife
or
gerber bear grylls paracord knife
Wouldn't a better test of edge sharpness, would be to cut through some hemp rope?
i am thinking about getting this knife as i am a big fan of Bear Grylls and my price range for it is just about right the guy at my fishing shop said it was about £40 and that's a great price for me should i buy it ?
@Equip2Endure Oh hey cool. Thanks for the quick reply. So they look totally the same? I was thinking of just ordering from Amazon, maybe just to make sure that it's the new version. :)
hey adam you should probably buy the fine edge one mine came razor sharp and i did a lot of battoning and carving and this knife is still razor sharp :)
paper is really delicate, you need a polished edge to cut paper the way you wanted, the diamond stone has a real tough grain, it tears up more metal to form an edge and its good when your knife is really dull, when you use it it will deminish the ammound of metal on the edge but will leave the edge with microscopical uneven "valleys". After sharpening it with that diamond stone you need to use something to polish it, a low grain stone or even cardboard/leather/regular stone around you will work.
thank you, I'll get it tomorrow. plain edge.
Can u make a video on how you sharpen your knives and maybe a edc video keep it up thanks
So I have one of these knives, but I hate the serated edge. I'm seriously thinking just grinding it off and sharpening the result or just finding another knife to use with the sheath. Any advice on that?
my pamal snaped off like 1 in up the tang and the knife does NOTTTT HAVE A FULL TANG very mad b/c the case said full tang and like i said it snaped off 1in 1 1/2 in toward the blade and the was no tang so i took it apart and the tang only went ONE INCH IN
