In three years, I went from having absolutely no experience in 3D Animation to working at DreamWorks Animation Studios teaching just about all of the 3D software used to make movies! After 2 years there, I left to try freelance / independent content creation on UA-cam for awhile, before I head back to Feature Film!
This is my journey- the entire process from when I decided I wanted to be an animator until I eventually get there, and everything along the way that will make it possible.

how to properly adjust curves in maya. because if finished your animation its full of curves.. but how do i know what to adjust?
Dreamworks is such an underrated studio. I love it's weird/realistic/sitcom/not taking things too seriously (like Pixar) taste.

I've gotta say at the beginning of the video I was like what's he doing? he's throwing away this amazing opportunity but man, you need guts to pursue what you really wanna do, especially when it means putting on hold part of your dreams. I'm impressed, and I really admire you for making that decision, you're still young so I hope you get to do amazing things this year and when you're ready I really hope you get an animation job!

THE NERD I am 13 years old. I do not have ony idea how is work there. But it is my dream. If I want to work there, I need to study english for be better (all of my english I’ve learned by myself) and I need to improve my 3D design, because I did started whem I was 12. But I still bad ‘~’
@@samayameirelles1521 Damn, you started when you were 12? You're already ahead of everybody. Honestly just keep working on projects you love, and build a portfolio. Right now I'm going into college for animation. Don't worry about how to get there. At your stage, enjoy what you love to do, and the journey will unfold itself. Good luck to the both of you.

Big news Wade! Been watching your videos and your progression from the start. Congrats on the marriage and the biggest luck for your future. As an animator myself, I can imagine saying goodbye to one of the biggest Animation companies in the world was super tough (Because we all want to be working there forever and ever ! ) but you seem to have a plan so stick to it and good luck!

Okay so having a few videos that succeeded a lot in views, and a few that didn't, I think I'm beginning to get a sense of what people want to see and what they don't.
Now you, my friend, are definitely something people want to see.
I just wanted to say that I really think you got something here!
You have a great idea for a channel, you're a cool guy and you have a lot to offer. Although you're getting not too many views right now, I really think you're gonna grow soon. I would just suggest you work more on attracting people, like work on thumbnails and stuff. For example what you did in this video when you started talking about not knowing if you could have been an animator in httyd 3 was amazing! I GOT SO HOOKED!
Anyway, I'm sorry this is long but I just wanted to say you're talented and I really like your videos so far, and I'm looking to see more! Good luck ((:

I respect your decision, I know it had to be really tough. I am working towards becoming a character animator myself at 43. Dreamworks is of course on my list of studios I would love to be a part of.
Taking such a decision takes guts, but it's an amazing thing to do. Animating and traveling with your wife : that's the dream ! :D

Since you're gonna be traveling, if possible, I think it would be a great opportunity to interview animation artists from many different studios (big and small) from many different countries and cultures. Looking forward to see what's next !

I really hope you succeed here, dude. I feel like if you try going back to DreamWorks you might get turned down for choosing to leave the company for doing something this risky. The feeling of regret for losing your chance to be a part of something would be the worst thing in the world. So don't fail at UA-cam, man. Good luck
It's not about the money :) And I'm still on good terms so I'm not worried!
I don't know about UA-cam stuff but of course if you succeed in making your own business it will be better than any job.I think if you try several fields (two at least) of work instead of just one it will be more safe for you so if you fail in one you may succeed in the other fields.Hope to you success & happiness.
Nabeel Alkaff A wise man once said “I don’t have a plan B because it distracts from plan A”.
Easy Dreams I respect your opinion.But I think you may be working on plan A and later on you realize the whole plan was wrong from the beginning. So there will be a gap between plan A and a new plan A. Living that gap without any income will be painful. Also if you put all your money on plan A you will not be able to start a new plan.

You had your foot in the door - and you left. You may not have got this gig, but what about the next movie, or the one after that? The chance to rub shoulders with those people and in seeking advice....you had the chance of being mentored by the best - and you left. Ouch. In 20 years, you will be FACEPALM!!! Asking yourself "What was I thinking??"
It's called taking a risk and not having everything figured out. If he was able to get his foot in the door the first time, he can do it a second time. Risks and following your gut are what make life interesting.

While you were at Dreamworks, did you notice if they said anything about looking for voice actors and actresses for any of they're upcoming films and/or any kind of casting calls? Or can you not say...
I was never a part of that section of the company so I'm not sure, sorry! I would like to do an interview with a professional voice actor though!

What a story. Just wondering (I just watched 2 of your videos) have you ever tried doing any old school hand drawing animation? I ask that because you say you like to learn. From experience I can assure you that you would learn a lot from it. I highly recommend you give it a try if you are passionate about animation.

You 100% made the right decision. I’m 50, have two kids and am only now doing the entire fun/travel/whatever bit as I had my first child fairly young and of course you just can’t take to many risks when you have a family.
Who knows what and where you might be in five years, could be somewhere way more exciting than even Dreamwirks, but if it all turns to mush, you can get back into Dreamworks (or wherever) as the talent that got you there in the first place isn’t going to disappear overnight.
