did eleanor of aquitaine ever come to this great hall?🏰
Yes, most certainly. It was her idea to create this as a dining hall (1191-1204 the year of her death). This part of the Palace of Poitiers is called the Palais de Justice or 'Salle des Pas Perdus' (hall of lost footsteps). It is 50m long, 17m wide. I have been there and it is quite an incredible space to stand in.
Eleanor13thC Thank-you!! and may i please ask were did she spend most of her childhood?:)
Poitiers. However she travelled all around the Poitou and Aquitaine with her family, especially in the summer time. So she knew many other places quite well such as Talmont, Nieul-sur-l'Autise, Saintes, Pons, Bordeaux. Best book I ever read about her is this one 'Eleanor Of Aquitaine' by Ralph V.
