I don't understand why they had to change the holes for later sockets, I guess it would be too simple if everything would be compatible. Many high end s775 coolers are still enough for i-CPUs. Asrock mobos seem to have 2 sets of holes for old and new coolers and that's cool.
The older coolers were actually better because the Core 2 quads and Duo's worked at a much higher thermal rating than modern i series CPU's do.
this is how evil intel ecosystem make their money by forcing buyer upgrade everything, environmental-unfriendly company.

I have been using same style with my Akasa AK965 fan for 8 years.
Great job, but I do agree with those who are in favor of back brace, with the back brace the pull weight of the cpu cooler is evened and that way you will avoid any possible damage to the motherboard once you put your PC in the vertical position. This cpu cooler looks heavy and it could really do some damage to the board althoug I doubt it to be honest. Anyways great work, thumbs up!

Дядька, ты сделал немного не правильно. Чтобы стойки не болтались ты их прикрути к плате гайками, потом поставь кулер и прикрути другими гайками, то есть у тебя на стойке должно быть две гайки, а промеж них крепление кулера
Great! I am going to change my CPU (and mother, of course) moving from a Quad Core (LGA 775) to an i7 (LGA 1151) and this is great news to me since i have a great ThermalTake cooler for overclocking!!!

Greate idea. I found replacement for this shitty plastic clips for my old Asus cooler. Unfortunately, I spent many time doing bigger hols in 775 coolers adapter.

Not all 775 coolers have large holes like that.You got lucky with one that had that type of mounting holes.Why not change the name to yours?
If the old cooler used the plastic pushpins the hole will be long enough like that, because the push pins are oval shaped.

I find this really intersting because I have a Cpu cooler that I've used on a 775 socket, a 1155 socket and now it's cooling my i7 6700K on a 1151 socking without modification. Cooler doesn't list support for 1151 either but it all works.
Does it list support for LGA 1156? If so, that is why.
How so? 1156 uses 115x pattern, not 775 pattern.

Hello, any of 115* socket coolers are compatible
Use screws of metric thread M3 (best choice) or M3.5 (infrequent) to utilize backlash due to distance mismatch 72mm for LGA775 and 75mm for Socket 115x.

Yes, socket 1151 has the same dimentions with s1155/1156/1150. It has 75mm between holes.

Go ahead do it the stupid way and use no back brace for the cpu cooler , nice way to literally break your motherboard.. cause if you ever installed any cpu cooler , you would know a back brace isnt just for looks , or any other reason .. But Go ahead Put all the strain and weight from the cpu cooler on the motherboard it self .. and They do make adjustable back braces for this exact reason ..

I have HSF asus royal knight that only has mounting support for LGA 775, can I use it for LGA 1151 now? What kind of equipments that I need to use it? Or just plug and play to my new LGA 1151 mobo? Thanks
Your cooler asus royal knight has the same mounting type with the my cooler in a video. You can remove plastic clips and mount cooler by screws as in the video.(because dimantions between clips on s775 = 72mm, s1151 = 75mm)

You should have mounted the cooler the other way round, fan facing away from the rams and you should use plastic washer between the motherboard and the cooler legs, that way you will not wrap the motherboard and the CPU. the way you have mounted the cooler has the full possibility of putting strain on the CPU as you have no way of controlling how much you tighten the screws, putting plastic washers will prevent the strain on the CPU to a great extent. Thank You.
The fan is IN THE CORRECT position. The fan blows THROUGH the cooler and out the back, it does NOT blow over the RAM (unless he put it on backwards which I doubt). Also the plastic/rubber washers are on the back of the mobo to negate any excess pressure - within reason.

Yes! With some bolts and screws it worked perfect. I now have a Thermalright Ultra 120 in a Fractal Design Core 500 case!

I have used plastic isolators, that came with different server equipment. Usually, this goes to the hardware Rackmount Switches.

now u have to take the board out every time u want to change cpu or change terminal paste.o well.

Usar una buena pasta térmica, y ajustar tornillos con cuidado. Gira el disipador. A veces interfiere con los cilindros plateados (capacitores) que tienes a los lados

The same size as 115x. But 1700 will be a little problem, that's gonna need a file job (on a heatsink, off course).
