Hi guys!! Please read this before you comment anything. Many of you have been saying this is lotus and not water lily. You’re absolutely right. But the procedure to grow water lily and lotus is the same. So this video is just a demonstration of growing both using the same method. And that’s what is mentioned in the title too. Hope it’s understandable. Thank you 😊

hello! great video, really nice composition with the ferns. Just wanted to ask you about the water you use, is it from the tap or does one need to collect it from the rain? and then how often must one changed it? thank you so much for the video and for your comment, if you can :)
Hi, the video says change water once a day. Why? I dug a pond last year I'm happy with my first try. I have various plants on the outside of it but want to experiment with Aquatic plants. So I am genuinely curious. Thanx for the video!
Lovely video! What is your soil mixture for planting the seedlings? Regular potting mix? A clay mixture? Thank you, my seedlings are ready to be potted!
Hello! Great video thank you very much 😁 I was wondering if I can plant my seeds in just regular soil for inside plants, and put rocks on top and add water ? Thank you
When you grow them in the glass, does the glass need to be in the shades or sunny window? And after you immerse the seeds in the tub, what kind of sun requirement is needed?
Hey twinwind, Liked your video, i have planted water lilly its been two month now but hardly 4 leaves has come out that to very small in size. What must be the reason Kindly help
25 of 30 seeds have germinated on my windowsill so I need to plant now. I don’t have floating ferns. Does it matter.? Do they need shade? Can I plant them in pond water with tadpoles? Will they withstand frozen water in the winter? I’m really excited by the thought of them blooming!
Hi! Thanks for the upload. I just got my water lily seeds. I wonder if I put the soil after the seeds starting to grow and put them in the water pond how is the seeds won't mix with the water? Can I grow the seeds without put them in the soil? Thanks.
Yes you can! But I would advice you to grow it on soil as when you clean the pond its much easier to move and also you need to fertilize it so its easy to fertilize when there is soil
Well I am not sure about your location. But this grows best in summer. We are from India and we have grown these seeds in summer in temperatures above 30 degrees C. All the best 👍🏻 and thank you.
10:00 AM. I’m not from India so I guess I’ll try to find the fern somewhere else. Thank you so much for responding to my questions. I do appreciate that very much. I have my lilies in water and just waiting impatiently 😅.
Does the pot you put the tubers in have drainage holes? I have one I could use but wanted to be sure it was ok to have drainage holes first. Thanks in advance.

Hi, great job on your video. Very elaborate and easy to understand instructions.. Im just curious, did your did this plant bloomed yet? Thank you and keep it up 😊
Is it to late to start these in June ? I’ve had lilys in my pond for a year a brought from the shop that haven’t flowered I’m not bothered I’m just interested as a fisherman and owning 2 ponds , I’m looking to Sacrifice my smaller pond if it means I could grow these for the parks in Birmingham
What is the purpose of adding the floating ferns? Where do we get those? If I’m understanding correctly, this is just a bowl of standing water. Do we need to have any aeration pump and what is the container made out of that you put the water lily soil in? thank you
Hi there! Lotus seeds grow best in summer. If you’re from UK then I guess it’s still winter and chilly over there so if the temperature is too cold then you may grow your plants indoor and later when the temperature gets slightly warm you can shift it outside. We are from India and we have grown these seeds in summer in temperatures above 30 degrees C. All the best 👍🏻
Will that be warm water or hot water when planting the seeds in the cup of water ? Is it necessary to change it everyday or I can change the water after every 2-3 days or 1 week
You can use any kind of containers that is available to you. Regarding the floating ferns and plants you can skip that step. We have just added those to beautify it. However if you are still interested to get those plants then check out www.aquaticgarden.in (only in India) or any aquatic plant stores.
Yes, floating ferns were added just to beautify it and to make it look for attractive. To prevent mosquito breeding you can add some fishes like mollies, guppies 😊
We decided to include the ferns, salvinia minima, for their beautiful look. We grow these in our small aquatic farm. You can find them at your nearby Aquarium Store, although it's not necessary to put them.
I live on a small subsidiary where the water level changes depending on the rock bottom. Lots of smaller gravel and silt are among the bottom with some soil consistency. The water temp stays basically 55 degrees but might rise little during the summer months. It is miles of spring feed water and very clean. Will the water lillies survive this type of environment? The video was very informative, and i enjoyed it. Tks for the info.
Thank you for your feedback! Water lilies are resilient plants and can adapt to a wide range of water temperatures. With the water temperature staying around 55 degrees and the clean, spring-fed nature of your water, water lilies should be able to thrive in this environment. Enjoy their beauty in your aquatic space!
hi been watching your you tube on how to grow water lilies from seed we have had them soaking in water for 5 days now and changed each day sand papered dimple end off but nothing will keep going but what are we doing wrong.
Make sure you're providing the seeds with the right conditions, such as maintaining a warm temperature and ensuring they receive sufficient light.Keep in mind that different species of water lilies have varying germination periods, and it's not uncommon for it to take a couple of weeks or even longer.
We have a pond three feet depth. A fish pond with Molly in them. Can we place a big tub with soil mixture and put seeds or plants of lotus and water lillies and then fill that pond upto the brim? Where can we get colourful lillies and lotus seeds or plants ? reliable ones please.
Go for it. Lotus and lily plants come in various heights (1-4 ft). Select a variety to suit your 3ft pond. You can find suitable seeds/plants on Amazon or at local nurseries/aquatic stores.
Clay soil is the best for this plant but if it’s not available you can use garden soil too and yes adding clay soil even in lesser amount will help. All the best 👍🏻
To make mud for growing water lilies, use a mix of loamy soil and clay in equal parts. Ensure it's free from chemicals or pollutants. Keep the mud layer around 8-12 inches thick in the container or pond where you plan to grow the lilies.
Yes, it is possible to plant water lily seeds in a pond that is 3 feet deep. Water lilies can thrive in various depths of water, including shallow areas. While they prefer to grow in water that is around 1-2 feet deep, they can adapt to deeper water as well. However please make sure the seeds are in contact with the soil so they can germinate and take root. We hope this helps !
I'm not sure how to get my lily pads to open? I have these in my aquarium with strong Kessil light and a good substrate. It is growing like crazy but once the pads hit the surface they just sit there and never open up? Can anyone help.
If I grow the water Lily plant from the seeds then how much time it would take to bloom ?¿...and also which is the best way to grow the water Lily from seeds or from bulb?
