In fact, the ending was released before the car accident happened. It wasn't a tribute because it was impossible to know that ahead of time. The coincidence is so great that it is one of the shadiest things about Dragon Ball in recent times.

If you didn't know yet, Dragon Ball Z Kai is a re-edition of Dragon Ball Z, once you finish watching Dragon Ball, i recommend watching Dragon Ball Z Kai instead of Dragon Ball Z. It's more accuate to the original source material with no filler episodes and better voice acting
