    I love seeing how people prep their shoes! There's so much variety out there. I wish I had a darning guy like Suvi, it takes me forever.

      Sometimes I think, WELL I don't need to darn, this pair I'm just going to not ... And then I wear them once and begrudgingly admit I do actually want them darned 😅

    I love it when you do videos together! You ladies made me laugh. Esp the cutting away/Romeo and Juliet. You are adorable, you two!
    The only thing I wish you would’ve shown was the final product of how the shoes look on your feet!

    Please do a video where you and Suvi talk about which roles you'd like to dance!

    Gamba pointe shoes!!!!! I loved those, fitted beautifully, my favourite pointes, was so unhappy when they disappeared.

    This was so amusing! When I started ballet (years ago), we all started with Capezio Pavlovas and lambs wool. No choices. Later I moved to Freeds (still my fave and I wore a 6.5 XXX) and I cut off the toe part of a sock and used that as my padding with taped toes (we were cheap and used masking tape)! Always cut the shank. But no jet glue back in the day, so we used Future floor wax to save dead shoes! I love all the new things available to dancers.

    I felt so validated when Isabella said she used pas de deux to break in shoes. I've started doing pas de deux classes this year and I found that if I wear too soft shoes, they will die a very quick death. 😆 I also rotate like Suvi, so now I delegate my harder shoes for pas de deux and as they soften I will start using for other classes.

    There is only one brand of elastic insert ribbons that are any good (I've tried them all😅).
    In fact, they are amazing. They are thick and sturdy and the elastic doesn't loosen over time. I highly recommend you try them - Gaynor Minden TLC ribbons 👍

    There were no gel or pouches when I was young, it was lambswool

      I love my lambs wool, many dancers use it. I tried many pouches, etc. I have to feel the floor.

    I only use a little lambs wool, and tape almost every toe. Problem being, I must change my flats to pointe rapidly also, so I tape toes before class begins, then the sweat makes the tape loosen and sometimes come off😟Any solution?

      @balletwithisabella  12 днів тому +2

      You need better tape! I use compeed heel plasters but I cut them up for each toe ( save money ) and they really stick, then I use medical bandage tape which is MUCH better than toe tape. My tape never moved ❤

    As a beginner, I would love to see close-ups of the shoes when you are describing parts of the shoes. The camera work is pretty bad.

    • @balletwithisabella
      @balletwithisabella  12 днів тому +1

      No problem thank you! Noted ❤ I have a beginner pointe course which shows things very close up on my website in case you need more detail 👍

      @Daintymeow 12 днів тому

      @ thanks for the info. I am not sure if it is understood that if you are making a video on a topic like this and describing the details on the shoes, the camera work has to make sense otherwise there is no point watching the video for some people who are new to the topic and want to understand what you are talking about.

    Over darning that makes the toes mushroom shaped is so ugly. Some very famous dancers do it.

      Could you mention some specific names? 🙂 I understand if you don’t want to but I’m curious as to what you mean by mushroom shape.
