Wishing you the best. I have the pleasure to live both in USA and Mexico (Mexico City) and love it. Enjoy traveling and enjoying the food, culture, and environment. So welcoming and warm. Ignore the few haters
Not sure y'all realize the service you're providing. I am despondent and seeing this brought me hope. The thing I don't understand is how to make a living in Mexico.
Thank you! Many folks work remotely for American or European companies. Others are early retirees. You can’t come and work locally (and legally) unless you get a work permit.
@@DavidMedina4All Yes you can. But salaries are a joke, unless you have a very good degree and know how to use it. Then you can make a good living. Most expats bring their own money and or work from home and make dollars or euros.
Coming down after the new year to check out some cities ... San Migual and Puerto Vallarta ... I'll have to check out where you guys live as well, you have a new subscriber !!
Great and timely. i love how concise you are which brief. I was a student in Mexico city 42 years ago and learned quite a bit of Spanish. I also was able to travel many different parts. I loved the food ,beaches, and people. I did return in 1988,for 2 wks., traveling to Baja Mexico and other places. I had a friend move to San Miguel de Allende before Covid, and she loved it. She had to return to the USA because of her health. Another moved to Bucerias, near Puerto Vallarta, and he loves it. The prices and cost of living , I believe are still more affordable than the USA. I wish i could yet have some issues to take care of. Take care.
I have had MX Permanent Residency since 2021; however my living expenses are lower here in small town Mo USA. Not all gays have high incomes and come from ultra high cost places. Someone needs to do videos for budget based singles. Probably more of us singles needing the guidance :)
This is very insightful for so many people. There are always important factors such as language and culture to factor in, plus how feasible will networking e.t.c. be if planning to work there. It is always possible to hire translators particularly if working in business. For destinations that have very different cultures it is very important to visit first before moving there, to ascertain how people from different communities and backgrounds are treated. Within many countries there can be significant regional differences too.
You are a source of hope and service to the thousands of us in the US, who are planning an exit. Bless you both for doing this, it really matters and is making a difference in peoples lives.

Thanks guys. This was a very informative video. Question: Did you guys use your UA-cam channel as your source of income. When applying for a resident visa?
@ Thanks for responding guys. One more question. You guys mentioned San Miguel De Allende, Mexico City and Tulum as good places to possibly move to. From a cost perspective, which do you think is best?
@@FOASQUAD Google is your friend....All three of those cities are considered some of the most expensive areas in Mexico to live. I live in a not so popular with tourists area of Mexico and I am able to live and eat like a Rey (King) on less than $1300us per month. That includes health coverage. Could I spend more where I live? Yes, I could but I didn't rent the bigger more luxurious place on the beach and instead I live in a predominantly Mexican neighborhood less than a mile away. My place actually has a much better view than right off the beach. I live on a hill with a palm frond covered patio full of plants and the requisite hammock that overlooks the ocean and the beautiful city lights at night. Everything depends on what you want. You can easily spend more money living in Tulum than what you would spend in most every city in the US. These guys are great but they are also well off DINKS (Double Income No Kids) and can afford to live wherever they want in Mexico of which Tulum is one of the most expensive. FYI-In Mexico if your household has a monthly income of at least $1,340us you are considered middle class. Out of 127 million people less two million of those are considered upper class with an income of more than $4,600us per month. Buena suerte con eso!
Yes, we would definitely keep an address and bank accounts in the U.S. that you would direct your social security to along with existing financial relationships. There are mail services that scan your mail or ship it to you in Florida, Texas, South Dakota and others that many expats use.
Been in and out of MEXICO 🇲🇽 for 40 years. Spent about 4 months there already this year. Worst experiences were being told off " why you not speak better Spanish so we can really talk." I also gave a small small shop owner a large bill for two bottles of water. She was not happy...duh on me. Love the diversity of the country, the ancient culture, food and of course the very generous hospitality of the people.
100% and we’ve all been guilty of those 😂 but to your point, the food, culture, and generally warm people and hospitality more than make up for the negatives in our experience!!

Great video! What do you do for USD - Mexican Peso conversions for large purchases, for example? Conversion currenc charges are often quite high. Also, is Tulum getting hit by all the hurricanes in the Caribbean and Gulf? Do you see that worsening? What do you think about San Miguel de Allende as a place to relocate? What would a 1000sq ft condo cost to rent, generally speaking? Thoughts? Thanks guys!!

I lived in San MIGUEL de Allende almost 2 years. I did not find it less expensive than living in Palm Springs California. MEDICAL was expensive difficult finding my medication’s. My food expanse was higher there than in Palm Springs dining out. I found very expensive city. It’s a beautiful city nice community I got involved in nonprofits which was very rewarding but now that I’ve been back in Palm Springs for almost 2 years, I feel very comfortable saying it’s 20 to 25% less expensive to live in Palm Springs then San Miguel 6:44
Happy to hear you’ve found the perfect spot for you!! We love both cities and were just in Palm Springs for Pride. We also met in California and love it so much but taxes and cost of living were much higher for our lifestyle. But everyone is different and we love that!

My husband thinks I’m crazy for it, but I’m seriously considering the move for us. Especially with how things are going in the USA right now. Do you know if there are many families within the expat community? We have a teenager and a big concern of mine is making sure that they would be able to make friends. Tulum is beautiful, it would be a dream.
Tons of families in our community but most have little one like under ten. I’m not sure about teenagers. I believe Playa might be better as an international school? Not 100% sure on that so don’t take that to the bank-just what I’ve heard!
Helpful video! Have you filed a claim thru any of the insurance companies you recommend? I've read horror stories of nonpayment thruout the travel health insurance industry.

Hi Guys, I have an appointment at the Mexico Consulate in Orlando next month. Curious what questions they ask during the interview and what types of documents did you provide. Were you able to provide printed out statements or do they require something more official? Any tips would be appreciated.
Hey there.. Each consulate is slightly different. I would reach out to them directly for those details. You MUST have it all in the correct format. I got mine in Austin and I had to provide banking screen shots that include the URL. Again it depends on each consulate.

Thanks for the information. Me and my partner have been thinking about moving to Mexico. We currently live in McAllen Texas. Plan is to sell our home and buy a beautiful architectural home in a nice area. Also, how is it making friends over there ? God bless you guys 🫶🙏
Thank you!! We love the architecture in Merida and San Miguel de Allende. Two good options for you with huge and supportive expat communities. We’re also partial to Tulum where you can design your house from scratch. If you go this route, it’ll take a year to build as the times they quote we’d say double it!! We have plenty of gay neighbors in our community in Tulum. At least 4 houses on our block of maybe 20 homes and even more on other blocks.
Are there any specifics you can provide about the transgender community there ? This is a huge deal for me especially now. My partner and I are looking into Portugal as well. Any insights are much appreciated 🙏🏻
Thankfully, many laws for LGBTQ people have been increasingly favorable to our community in Mexico! We find Mexico accepting and welcoming to everyone. Surely, there are regional differences like anywhere, but gay popular areas in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta and even our favorite in Zipolite Oaxaca are for sure welcoming. We definitely recommend visiting for an extended period in a few places in Mexico and Portugal to determine what’s best for you. Good luck, and safe travels!!
Hey Boys, congrats on the house in Tulum- Who knew ?! Thats amazing. So, orher rhan PV, where are the great gay retirement communities for young retirees (63, ha ha) and the surfers who love them? How do you guys like PE? Cheers
Hey guys. Thank you for the video! Question please. I will marry my fiancé in Cape Town next month which will make it legal in US and Mexico. However with the changing political climate in the US right now, I’m considering Mexico for our expat life. After gaining temp or permanent residency in Mexico, would it be easy to bring my future Nigerian husband to Mexico? Thank you in advance for your response.
Our pleasure! We recommend that you reach out to the Mexican consulate you plan to apply through and confirm requirements. That’s what we did, as each consulate can apply the rules as they see fit. So again you definitely want to ask the specific consulate where you plan to apply. Good luck!!
Hey guys, Tampa here. Interesting video, and definitely gave me a few new ideas. I have been researching Merida, and find that living, and expenses are affordable. However, haven't stopped looking further, and being on a retirement budget, all needs to be considered to enjoy a new life in Mexico. As you know, we have some major trauma happening in our politics in the states. and I am just fed up with all this crap. My "Lady" didn't get into the Oval Office, and I can't deal with "Orange Face" any longer or his Project 2021 !! Thanks again for your info, and maybe I will buy you guys a cocktail one day......soon. 😎
Thanks so much!! We have a couple videos on Merida specifically! It’s an incredible city tho very hot in summer! Love the architecture. And one of safest in Mexico with a great food scene too!!
Great video! We are a couple living in upstate NY currently but researching options. Are there areas in Mexico that have more tolerable summer temperatures? Also, for permanent residency, are you required to give up your US citizenship? Will also have to research options for collecting social security from the states as I am retiring next year. Thanks again :-)
Our pleasure! Yes, many of our neighbors go to San Miguel de Allende in summer. Guanajuato and Querétaro are also great! Mexico City too! And you don’t have to give up US citizenship to be a Mexican perm resident. We know people with more than 5+ perm residencies!!!
Excellent video! I am now retired and am seriously considering Mexico as my retirement home. I've made a few separate trips there during the past 2 years. I especially like Ajijic, on the edge of Lake Chapala which is charming, historic and has a huge gay expat community. I also like Puebla and Guadalajara. I hope in future videos you will discuss other towns for LGBTQ expats as well.
Thank you!! We’ve covered PV, Puerto Escondido, Zipolite, Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende, Querétaro, Playa del Carmen and Tulum thus far. We have Guadalajara area planned in April. Can’t wait! Def send any recs our way! 🫶
Mexico is definitely a place to consider. Money goes so much farther. Easy to go back and forth to the States. But Spain still has a special place in my heart and I'd rather be an expat there.
Our pleasure!! And we love Mexico and Spain too!! We’re actually planning to split our year between Mexico and Spain/Europe next year:) But will only stay in Europe 120 days. We don’t want to become tax residents in Spain for sure!! 😬
Definitions for reference: Expat: a person who lives outside their native country often temporarily Immigrant: a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country As we do not plan to live in Mexico year round nor permanently, we are currently expats not immigrants. Also, we love Mexico and only highlight how grateful we are to be guests in this amazing country. If you take it as negative, that's unfortunate, as our channel name is not meant to be provocative just a simple fact for us. Safe travels 🙏❤️✈️🌈
I (Trai) lived in London for 2 years before meeting Andy. It’s a great city for nightlife! But very expensive with very high taxes. If it’s in the budget and you don’t mind dreary weather, it’s a great place to live! Lots of cheap flights to travel around Europe for sunshine!!

Hey! We have a video on our experience and also do consulting calls to help folks if you have more specific questions. Start here tho as we answer many of these questions:

@emvallarta agreed. 👍 Landon responded by email with exact requirements which I then printed out for my appointment. It was very much not struct so didn’t need it thankfully!
@@TwoGayExpats thank you! I did go back through your channel and watched the video. I emailed the Orlando consulate directly yesterday but have yet to hear back. Ill reach out again if I don't hear back early next week. Thanks again!
@d2k1323 awesome! I’m sure they’ll respond asap. We got a response very fast I recall!! But they might be inundated this week 😬
@ Awesome. Well thank you for your warm response and feedback. Wish you guys well in Mexico. Hopefully I’ll be there one day. God bless 🫶🙏❤️
Cheers
Thanks, and we love Puerto Escondido and the whole Oaxaca Coast! Near PV, many love Sayulita. ☀️ 🏄♂️
I absolutely love Merida but my only problem is that gets so damn scorching hot down there!
Is Gay Marriage legal?? In mexico in 2024??
100% 🌈🙌
Thank you. I have a gay son and a trans daughter, and looking for LGBTQ+-friendly places for possible relocation.
Our pleasure! And this makes us so happy!!
sodomite anglos are not welcome lol gtfo
LOL !! EXPATRIATES AND IMMIGRANTS!!
Definitions for reference:
Expat: a person who lives outside their native country often temporarily
Immigrant: a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country
As we do not plan to live in Mexico year round nor permanently, we are currently expats not immigrants.
Also, we love Mexico and only highlight how grateful we are to be guests in this amazing country. If you take it as negative, that's unfortunate, as our channel name is not meant to be provocative just a simple fact for us.
Safe travels 🙏❤️✈️🌈
I'm going to the UK. Mexico is to close to trumps America
Can I go with you!? I'm half serious and half joking. 😊😊😊😊
