Cara thank you for sharing your story. It really hit home. I was a Bonnie too. I had a friend who asked me to step in and adopt her daughter. I was very single at the time working crazy hours in a level one trauma hospital. Little did I know how my life was going to change. I adopted my daughter as a baby and today she is 19 years old. God is good! She did more for me then I could ever do for her. ❤️🙏🏻
Darik and Cara, I think you guys are amazing, incredibly patient parents. But, my favorite thing that you do is you compliment your kiddos like crazy. You call your girls beautiful but you also make them feel capable and smart. It’s going to take someone amazing, strong (on the inside), intelligent, and incredibly kind to make them each happy one day. That’s an amazing thing to instill in your children, to just help them grow their self worth. You are the best at that!

I have an older sister that my mom gave up for adoption and an older sister on my dads side that I did not grow up with. I’ve just recently reconnected with both and it’s been the coolest thing. It’s such an odd and emotional feeling to navigate, having so much love for someone you don’t even know. Getting to know them is the best part! I’ve also gained a niece and 2 nephews😊
