The McIntosh RS200 is a complete wireless speaker solution from McIntosh. All you need to add is a source for music (and there are tons of options with the RS200) and you will quickly have room-filling McIntosh sound
The feature set of the RS200 hits on everything just about any person would want these days in an all-in-one wireless speaker solution. You’ll have multiple ways to get music into it for great playback.
    Inputs and Outputs:
    Apple Airplay 2
    Bluetooth 5.0
Optical Input (CD transport, TV Optical out, or anything else with an optical digital out)
    Analog Input for a turntable
USB input for streaming music from your computer or laptop directly to the RS200.
    ARC HDMI Input
    Siri and Alexa compatible
    Subwoofer Out
McIntosh is world-renowned for their amplifier technology, so as you might imagine, they went to the max with the RS200. There are actually 5 separate amps with a total of 650 watts of power. The tweeter on each side, the midrange drivers on each channel and the woofer enclosure all have separate power amps using electronic crossovers for perfectly clean sound. The woofer cabinet gets 250 of those 650 watts with the rest divided up among the other drivers. Electronic crossovers are usually reserved for very high end powered speakers and its cool to see McIntosh using DSP (digital signal processing) to squeeze the best performance possible from the speakers. The sound you get from the RS200 certainly speaks for itself too in this regard!
Since they had all the digital speaker processing in place, McIntosh also elected to add an environmental switch which allows you to really fine-tune the RS200 to its surroundings. For those of you who know a little about acoustics, the room and its surfaces can have a big impact on the sound. McIntosh gives you three settings: free, table, wall, and table. Free works when you have the RS200 on a small table not much bigger than the unit with the table a little off the wall or further into the room. There is a wall setting which you would use of the unit was close to a back wall. Finally, there is a table setting you should kick in if the unit is sitting on a larger, flat surface. It’s pretty easy to hear the differences these settings make with just the flick of a switch.
McIntosh also future-proofed the RS200 as much as they could. It has the ability to do firmware updates through a USB service port on the rear of the unit, a nice touch.
You really do get a lot of great technology and useful features in the RS200. While it is $3,000 we really could not think of anything missing from this great little all in one wireless speaker.

I don't know if things have changed since this video, but the new ones have 400watts to the midranges and tweeters and they have 250 watts going to 2 subwoofers on the bottom.

Any thoughts on why McIntosh did not include a headphone jack--deal killer for me. Thanks

The seems odd to me. I like that you can connect a sub as those speakers seem small (base drivers in the cabinet?) Is not this setup a big compromise with a wired system? I mean an integrated amp with separate left and right bookshelf speakers, plus a sub? I understand it's for a smaller room but for that price can you not get something pretty nice with a "normal" setup? I am impressed with the RS200, but I am more likely to go with separate components, and if McIntosh, a bigger hole in the wallet... It's worth a listen in person I am sure to make a proper comparison.

    Is this replacing the mcaire?

This is a new product from McIntosh. Some new features, functionality, and connectivity. They have not said it is a replacement but it certainly is a natural progression.

The new RS250 does not look as good as the RS200. What's up with the new meters on the RS250? I'll take the old look any day.

@@AudioAdvice I think it's a change like Porsche 911's fried egg headlights. Purists complained, so Porsche returned to rounder ones.

While I appreciate your breakdown of the features, this is not a review-- it's a sales pitch.

Greetings friend! We appreciate your point that this was a super positive review. A few points we should have made. First, the RS200 is a best-in-class system and one that really stands out. The second point is that for every review we do, there are dozens of products we don't put out videos on. In other words, we simply don't waste people's time with reviews on products that we don't believe in. The third point is that our individual reviews are where we dive deeper into any of the negatives if there are any to call out. If you're interested in the full-written version, you can skim through that here: www.audioadvice.com/videos-reviews/mcintosh-rs200-wireless-system-review/ Thanks for watching.
