MJF is good, better heel than anyone in WWE however Cody is doing good and turned his career around however he doesn’t have that following. MJF is a great worker but he isn’t even the same type of wrestler as rock and Austin and HHH. His gimmick is similar to Hunter Hearst Helmsley and his work in early DX but it doesn’t mean he is the same icon level as him. None of them are icons now maybe are they the rock and Austin and HHH of AEW? Maybe if it means they are the top guys in the middle of a program war but as far as in wrestling in general? No only one you can argue is MJF and even then AEW finds a way to ruin him.

Until now, with these younger wrestlers who grew up looking up to Meltzer in turn and seeking his validation. Wow, I just diagnosed poor Dave with a codependence problem 😄

My thought is, this is the first time in the history of wrestling that Meltzer has been able to be treated by the boys as a peer, if not a respected figure. The kids who used his magazine as their first "insider" peak are now wrestlers. Vince McMahon has to be miffed at Dave spoiling his shit, so WWE talent wont be as acessable. They won't be publicly endorsing him much less naming finishers after him.
In AEW, he can continue to "cover" wrestling from a much more comfortable position. That's a lot of temptation for what equates to an inside mark.
Jim's frustration with him feels really relatable right now. The Quarentine has made social media the most viable option for staying connected to one another. I see/dealt with the passive aggressive needling. The backhanded or aimed comments that everyone can see but only the 2 involved parties really notice or pick up on.

Just like Meltzer, former Spanish WWE broadcaster Hugo Savinovich has become AEW cheerleader, everything is excellent, everything is a jewel everything is the best in the world when it comes to AEW, and with the whole Matt Hardy incident he's making a lot of light about it.
My problem with Meltzer isn't even Meltzer himself. It's how people treat his word like it's gospel. It even seems like people in the business do that. I heard Pillman Jr do that.

I don't blame him for taking that personally. However an argument can also be made as to which of the THREE prominent MX versions is the best. To me personally I see Dennis Condrey and Randy Rose under the management of Norvell Austin as a very good Gulf Coast original. Then Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton under the management of Jim Cornette bettered the team's work in New Orleans and Atlanta. Then Stan Lane and Bobby Eaton pushed the team under the management of Jim Cornette to its true height of excellence. Don't forget that Cornette later managed The Fabulous Ones of Stan Lane and Steve Keirn in Memphis in the USWA era (Their original manager was some guy named Jackie Fargo.😏🎩). So actually of those four Dynamic Duos who qualifies as Best?🤔B.W.
I used to think Corny was a little off-base here, but then I started listening to Melter review BtE instead of just skipping it. With the way he fangirls over that, there's no way he's unbiased. I guess he's just spent so long on the "outside" that having a company run by guys that idolize him is the one thing he'll give up his credibility for.

Flashforward 2yrs and Brian and Jim are laughing about Meltzer claiming they took a guy's brain out to stop it from bleeding, and reporting a guy is booking a company even though the guy was fired 3yrs ago and is currently with another company.
And a whole host of other Meltzer lies or incorrect reporting.
I just never understood how a guy (Meltzer) who isn't really in the wrestling business can report inside information (that may or may not be accurate) and that not be considered "exposing" the business (especially in the 80's and 90's) or at least be a thorn in the side of promoters. I can see why Eric Bischoff dislikes Meltzer so much. But also when I look at it, maybe Dave is smarter than everyone else (like Al Snow said in an interview) cause he became a millionaire off wrestling and never had to beat up his body.

Meltzer is more a PR man for AEW than a reporter at this point. He's had a crush on Omega since his series of matches with Okada which were just as much the result of Okada's brilliance as anything, but Dave will never admit that...they were all because of Omega's workrate. .

The funny/sad thing about Lana and her accent randomly disappearing. She was told to do that by people backstage. They couldn't figure out how to get her to not be Russian anymore, so they figured they'd just stop referencing it, and if she just stopped the accent it would be too jarring and obvious. So gradually, over time, slip in and out of it. Till one day it magically disappears. Just like Vinnie's buddy, Drumpf said Covid-19 would magically disappear one day

If Vince McMahon could "filter Russo" to a great product and boom period why couldn't he filter Bruce or Cornette? If McMahon was such a great filter why was the product awful in the mid 90s? Why has the product been awful for 20 years?
McMahon suddenly turned into a great filter from 1997 to 1999 afterwards years of "Mantaur" and "TL Hopper" and "The Goon"? After Russo left McMahon has been blamed for the awful product and he still is blamed for the awful product to this day, why couldn't he filter Prichard, Bischoff, Heyman or Cornette to great products?
