obcessed with andy's bass tone on this and on previous albuns. would really love to know who the bass player is and how he's able to emulate it so well very suby yet with a lot of mid/high end character, stumpy, just like a hofner or something with small humbuckers

I think it's a mixture of a bit of compression, a bit of tube saturation or grit, and the middle/neck pickup. the bass and drums are also so locked, as they are on the records, so a lot of the fluffy punch from the kick drum adds to the sound with the mix of whole band. really cool sound.
