Nick, when you say anticipate or come right after, are you speaking of just the first beat of the bar or the others as well. My ear is not that good to tell. Thanks.
I'm talking about the main pulse - the first beat of each bar. It's not an exact science, but attempting this exercise should be enough to jolt you out of the habit of always falling into the same rhythmic pattern. the importanmt thing is to vary it, like you do with speech patterns when you are talking in a way designed to capture the interest of the listener - if you always talk in the same rythm, you are likely to sned people to sleep - same with guitar solos!
@@SecretGuitarTeacher Thank you very much for this reply. This video, in really simple terms, explained something that I had not seen explained before which is the neutral on-beat playing vs. the angry or complaining approach. Thank you so much for this one bit of advice that made the light bulb go off. I am at that point where I'm practicing keeping my lead guitar playing in time and this is one video that really helped me to figure out what I have to do. Thanks again.
No one more economical with a note than the late great B.B. Any way, it's the blues...you can only speak between the crying and bouts of depression....
