    Nice one Martin, you should have sent the scraping bit to my Mrs. Did one of those 2 years ago, not as nice as that one but just started out then . Gosh mate how many hrs do you have in a day, cars model making helping your mate out, All I did was paint the top half of down stairs loo took me most of the day. Mind you young whipasnapers can party all night and go and work all day o my god long time since I did that.early 1970's. Take care send all our best to Mrs D. Catch you next time. Now got to do a job for the wife. 👍👍🙏

    That's been quite a cheap model for Corgi to produce - a wee bit of a plastic box and a giraffe on an existing casting. It's a bit of a surprise that they didn't manage to think of some more versions of a short tractor: a short Luton for example... I use WD40 to shift glue residue - it works on recycled jamjars for my tomato chutney!
    Very neat idea with the plastic-head pins for trafficators - as neat as a pin, one might say! Lovely result, Martin.
    Loved the sound of the crows and the dog in the background , too - I don't get that here!

      Cheers fraser, iam a bit behind with my comments this week as I have been away from home this week got back on Friday so playing catch up.
      Yes that tractor unit is very versatile.
      I will try WD 40 it will be cheaper as well , yes iam very lucky to live in the country with plenty of birds etc and on Sunday morning chuch bells 🔔 and long walks down the river Bank.

    Another tester completed well. I'm reminded of the Triang 'Ducking Giraffe' wagon, where a lever, operated by a peg on the track, would make the Giraffe duck when going through a tunnel. Great imagination those designers had! I'm sure you're going to enjoy operating that Circus lorry. Cheers, Jim L

    Well that’s just beautiful Martin, what a brilliant idea for the indicators, they look spot on, and the detailing is spot on, not sure how you managed the Bedford badge, the dinky ones are hard enough, and this ones way smaller! This really is a stunning model restoration, and it’s a Bedford, I absolutely love it, top job Martin👌👍👍👍😊

    Hi Martin wow the details you put on the front really fetched it to life. Love the indicators very clever that's thinking outside of the box. If you ever get stuck without your sticky remover stuff another good thing to use is windex window cleaner. I used to use it to take old registration stickers of my windscreen but they don't use them any more so I don't have to bother now. I may have told you this story before but my first wife was into horses and she bought a singe open top horses float-trailer. The horses head and neck poked out just like your giraffes. So we got one of her artist friends to paint a comical horse body on the outside of the float🐴 lol. Catch you next time mate.👍

    • @martindaredare
      @martindaredare  2 роки тому

      Hi Geoff, I bet that hoarse trailer looked good with that on the side .
      I was towing a glider in its trailer many years ago its basically a long box with a bit stuck up at one end for the tail fin pulled into a petrol station and this kid lead out of the car opposite and shouted what you got in there mr ,so I told him to be quite because the giraffe was laying down having a sleep , so he promptly told his parents about it and the father couldn't stop laughing.

    Martin: you maybe did this anyway but, if not, google "giraffe transport truck". While I didn't find much in the way of circus vehicles, some of the images of custom, home-made trucks are ******* priceless - well worth a quick search.👌😂
    It's a shame the detail on the truck is so faint, as there seems to be more small detail than usual. Once you had it in bare metal, the Bedford looked superb. It was almost a shame to paint this one, although you did a lovely job.😁
    The box was in remarkable condition; great that you could leave it all original. Even the stickers looked pretty good. Whoever came-up with the clever name for the stuff that removes sticky residue deserves some sort of award; a clear case of "does what it says on the tin".
    Looking at the bare metal cab, I thought it could be a great base for a code 3 model of something, maybe with a custom deck of some sort? As a bairn, I was never a huge fan of the circus stuff, preferring the more "everyday" vehicles. We didn't see many giraffes being chauffeured around Central Scotland. Having said that though, if you had the whole set, you could put together a pretty impressive diorama, either a circus field, or a street procession - maybe a thought/poibility for the channel?
    We don't often see a pin-vice living-up to it's name; they're usually just used a a mini-drill. It did the job though and the indicators add another wee touch to the cab. The truck looks fantastic, even better than original.👌
    Sorry for the great rambling post but this turned into one of my favourite renovations Martin. It wasn't in bad shape to start with but looks like $1,000,000 now.👍😁

    • @martindaredare
      @martindaredare  2 роки тому

      Thanks very much ,I will be having a look at circus vehicle images to get some inspiration.
      The details are alot more pronounced on the dinky tk cab .
      These corgi ones are very fine ,but like you say look better in bare metal.
      Take it easy and all the best martin 👍

    looks brandnew again, though I think the giraffe isn't young anymore. XD the larger one seems to be daddy-giraffe, too. ;)
    scraping the emblems and badge like that worked better than using a brush. eh, what can you do when they're so small. ^^ looking good again! ^^

    Hi Martin.
    Loved the video and thought the model turned out very well indeed.
    You made a brilliant job of it.
    Thank you for the sticky stuff remover tip and I will purchase some for my hobby.
    Can you lease let me know what paint you used for the cab, I'm assuming it's one of the Hycote range.
    All the best and thank you my friend.
    David.

    I've just been messaging a mate who has a real TK.He say's he's no idea why Corgi stuck that bulge on the roof!best thing is to file it off.Corgi has a number of these cabs in various guises,so next one you do,you can get rid of it.

    Tks for your great videos Martin. I have learned a lot from you. There is something else I am still struggling with: how to remove the paint of a plastic truck bed? The cab is Zamak and had the paint removed using your method with hot caustic soda but the plastic of the bed will distort in it. Any advice on how to strip the paint in the bed?

      Hi everson, you can put it into a container and spray with oven cleaner, this normally works .

    That Bedord TK model never had the badge in the right colours. You go over and above the call of duty. In my case, toys have to work, and if they don't, I make them. Restoring tinplate is not the same, is it?
