I am rebuilding an Avid Model B (although I question that model, looks more like the MKlV Heavy Hauler). Plans are to increase the length, tail height, and use a larger engine (high altitude). I will use composites for the tail increase, possibly for the new wings also since this is a total gut job. This is a journey, looking fwd to the Utah, Wyoming outback!
Nice! That sounds awesome! I too am in that area. Let me know if you need any help!
So cool seeing the process of a plane being built
Thanks! It’s definitely going to be a learning process, but we’ll get to enjoy that together.
Very cool! Interested in seeing the carbon fiber work. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Yeah I’m stoked to get into some carbon fiber work! I’m planning on quite a few pieces over the length of the project.
Great video! Can you post a video about the bagage aera process
Thanks Vince, yeah I'll be happy to share that once I finalize plans there.
This could not be a more wanted UA-cam channel to watch right now with my new mark iv purchase.
I saw this online when I was buying mine. I’m glad it went to someone who will be engaged in the community and share.
If only I was savvy on UA-cam and cad design.
I am looking to redo my dash with some iPads and ilevil. Any chance you have dems in digi form?
Keep it up !
Awesome, glad to hear it! Thanks! Well, all things can be learned, so just focus on a small improvement each day.
The ilevel stuff is nice. I’m considering it myself. Could you send me more details in the form in the description and I can see where I can help?

@@letsbuildthiswhat did you mean level details in the form of description?
Was just looking to see if you had mark iv dash dimension. Looking to make one and add some glass goodies to it.
Hi Jenkins, it's this form here that helps keep the bots out. If you fill this out I can email you.

Check out the Piper PA-18 tail feather shape. Both rudder and elevators have the balance tabs. Don't confuse with Cub J-3 which do not have tabs.
Awesome, thanks for the tip!
Great video man
Thanks!
Intresting 💥. Subscribed .
Thank you!
I’ve got an Avid Mk4 and I have thought about doing this too.
Sweet! Yeah I’ll post updates as I work through it. Let me know what you end up doing.
@@letsbuildthis I don’t know what we are going to start with yet. I’m thinking about more horsepower. Maybe a Rotax 670 with a 4:1 gearbox and a larger prop. Need bigger tires and brakes too.
It's hard to tell from just the video, but it appears your new tail ribs aren't really aligned to anything. I would suggest laying them out so that they are in line with the airstream when the aircraft is in flight attitude. Be aware that adding an airfoil makes the surface more effective than the original flat-plate design, so your control feel and effectiveness will be different.
Great advice, thanks for the tips!
Kitfox decided after 1 particularly well publicized crash to use aluminum for the instrument panel because it deforms instead of shattering with a bunch of splinters when the pilots face hits it.
Interesting! Thanks for the info Will, I’ll consider it!
