I'm not trying to say your method doesn't work: You can probably all bypass of this with Genki Shadowcast; Where your computer monitor is able to project your Nintendo Switch on it! The Genki Shadowcast has a built-in capture device!
I was looking into that! Have you used one? I read that the latency is pretty bad and the quality is not too good. I saw that with “performance mode” the most you can get is 1080p 30fps but even with a 20 capture cars you can get 1080p at 60fps. But it’s nice that it comes with it’s own software even if it’s limited
@@DaveNodon I've used it minimally just to record some footage. Quality is okay. If you fiddle around with it, you can get it pretty good. But the latency... yeah, the latency is pretty bad (compared to other methods). It's fine if you just want to record footage, but not really to livestream it. But I've only used it minimally, so who knows if there's some more fiddling you can do to make it great for streaming.
I want to play on TV because my computer screen is small. Can I play on TV and record to computer? I have an elgato card and a few HDMI cords. Will that work, or will it slow it down too much? Thank you. Your video is helpful.
Not done watching the video yet as I write this, but do you know if there is a way to do this while not docking the switch? I play with motion controls on Splatoon 3 and I have a really hard time playing docked. Because I'm interested in streaming with my friends, I want to be able to be actually good at the game while I'm broadcasting 😅
You can click on the source, or try to click it in the scene view and resize. Or delete it and re-add it. Or play around with the scene size and resolution in the settings.
The internal stress of that project is mostly why I basically quit for a year. But I’m easing back into the swing and I might get around to it sooner or later. But probably on a slightly smaller scale so as not to be overwhelmed again
Please help! I've been researching this for days and am stuck, not being really computer tech savvy. I've also watched both of your videos on this specific topic. I'm wondering if my computer's specs would be compatible with the HD60x: It's a desktop Inspiron 7700 AIO Series, Windows 11, 11th Gen Intel (R) Core (TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80 GHZ, 32GB Memory, 2 TB Storage/1 TB SSD, Display: Intel (R) Iris (R) Xe Graphics, 32.0 GB Installed Ram. However, when I looked up my GPU I see 2 different GPU's listed - the Intel Iris with Shared GPU memory of 15.8 GB AND a Nvidia GeForce MX330 with 2.0 GB of Dedicated GPU memory. I don't know if the Nvidia will help in the recording/streaming of these videos I want to make. Also, my computer only have 1 USB port, in which a USB Hub is plugged into so the HD60 X would be plugged into the USB hub rather than directly into the computer. At a minimum I want to be able to play Warframe on my Switch which is plugged into my TV, while recording my game play onto my computer simultaneously and I'd be using OBS software. I want to record tips and tricks I've learned and then post these on UA-cam. Ideally, I'd also like to live stream game play also. Given my computer's specs (and having to plus the HD60x into a USB hub, will I be able to do what I'm trying to do? Thank you so much for your help!
Silly question. Would this work for switch onto steam deck? Since thats my pc pretty much. I just wanna stream on my steam deck to discord. If any possible lemme know! :)
It will only show up when *powered* - Is your switch dock plugged into it with an active hdmi signal going into it? You can tell because the switch screen will go dark if it’s all hooked up properly
@DaveNodon This is what I did, but I might have gotten confused about what you meant, or I did it in the wrong order. Before I opened the app, everything was plugged in, and the switch was already on and docked. Then, I opened the app and went to the tab for the video. My device wasn't showing. The only device that it was showing was the built-in camera of my laptop.
@DaveNodon Do you mean on the editor or on my computer in general? When I plug a speaker, thumb drive, or phone in, it works. Heck, I've moved pictures from the phone to my computer using my USB cord. I just don't know why it won't work for my capture card.

Can I do this with my PC hooked up to my TV? Since I dont have 2 screens, can I begin by turning on the Switch, changing output to PC and the software will display the Switch from there?
You could do that, yes. Just treat the tv as a monitor for your pc. OBS has a full screen mode when you right click on the view window -> “full screen preview” The negative side of that is that you’re going to be dealing with the input lag of the PC. If you plan to do very quick response games fighting games/Smash, or precise platformers then it could get rough.
