Sharing a great hack I just learned - loop an elastic band around the bottom of a taper candle several times and it keeps it stabilized in the candlestick
These are my most favorite type of videos. I just love, love, hearing about everything you have found that’s new and exciting and/or useful and thrifted, what you’re reading and watching, or most of all wearing. Please do more of these videos. Love all you guys.
I inherited my father's jade plant. It is now over 30 years old & is gigantic & stunning! I love passing along rooted cuttings to friends who want them. I simply root my cuttings in water. Has always worked like a charm for me. I take off a few stems & insert in a vase (need 2-3 leaf nodes to be in the water). I change out the water from time to time to keep it fresh.
The converse of the heart looked like 2 swans, both valentine themes. I found myself smiling and chuckling throughout the video and realized that watching Linda is truly 'a smile present'.
The no homework bookclub sounds like a group I belonged to for many years. We called it the literary soiree. People read passages from anything they chose fiction, non fiction, humour, poetry, essays, even cookbooks. We had several writers that read their own writing. We combined with a monthly potluck and had great fun and inspiration. People got incredibly creative with their selections.
You look so pretty as usual. Don't think I've seen you in a black top lately and it looks so good on you along with your lipstick !! Think I have to get a jade plant !
Rereading Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher. She also wrote The Shell Seekers. Another good book. If you love all things UK 🇬🇧 you will love the settings.
It just dawned on me, you should have your own TV Show! You remind me of Martha Stewart! Her shows are just so old now. Nothing new! You are so fresh and new and a pleasure to watch!!!
Linda, Thank you for showing us how to root a jade plant.......I love the yellow tags.....I have some and I can always find my case. I even got the cover for the handle in the same color. If you have never watched - Travel Tips by Laurie- she has some good thoughts and ideas. Plus the comments are great. The striker pad might be better on the side, so you are not having to tip the container over. I have been looking for them so thank you for posting where to get them. Have a great day and stay warm. PS. Saw you older post on how to grow/trim a topiary. Can't wait to try that .
I’m really drawn to the orange/blue combination. I like every shade of blue; my two young grandsons are “mega” orange fans, even painting their bunk bed orange. 😉 I didn’t realize how much I could like orange until I saw your table. Tonight I will be watching Pride and Prejudice, and the book I’m reading is “Loved” by Liz Wright.
It’s so good to see you so happy in the cottage.. I admit to being a little worried for the transition, and leaving where so many memories of raising your boys were made. Speaking from experience, I know how hard it can be, and I think the busyness of putting in the new garden was an immeasurable help. So glad to see your satisfaction with the new place😊❤️❤️
I love your channel. Not only because you gave us tons of good advises, but from my point of view, my English is my second language so thanks to you, my vocabulary is expending. Also your videos are very entertaining and sometimes very funny.
With succulent cuttings you have two options. One you can take the cutting and let it scab over and then plant it and water it in, or two, you can take a fresh cutting and pot it up but just don’t water it right away. You do not need rooting hormone for succulents. They take without any effort at all.
I have always found them easy to propagate. I just stick em back in the soil to root. And usually they do. The easiest thing to propagate outside is sedum. Wow! Just stick it in the soil and you have new plants all over the place. 👍🏻👍🏻
Out here in California my jade grows to 6 feet tall if I let it. Also I don't need to root it at all. Just break off a stem... put it in the ground and it takes off and multiplies all by itself. It thrives on neglect. I literally have to just break off pieces and throw them in the yard waste bin because it takes over the garden. Also did you notice the color and patterns on the little blue bowls echo the blue pillows perfectly. Good book recommendations. But for me, big cities usually have too much chaos, crime, traffic, noise... not conducive to falling in love . Just my opinion. Love the apple and orchid display. I also like to maybe put one apple right on the table top when I do an arrangement.
I will reiterate. The picture in your opening shot has unexpected meaning to me. The Chinese teapot in your painting (that I had seen many a time) finally registered with me. I have one just like it.! I collect examples of that pattern in Aqua and yellow. Some are unique and some are mass produced. I also have many Chinese pieces with Peaches on them. Peaches symbolize longevity. Can never have enough of that. Barbara Jacksonville, FL
I haven't had an orchid plant in a while. Just bought one on clearence that must have just been put there. It is beautiful. Every flower perfect and healthy! Linda you are one of a few who give us the right info. Yes it IS a mistake to stick any stem into the hormone container. I see so many show us the wrong way. I just love all the info you supply us! You are real, fun and entertaining as well as a teacher! Love and look forward to every video you and Stewart supply. They are so well done!
I love all of your videos, and during the winter I really appreciate ones like this. Your decorating ideas, thrifting, Outfit of the Day, tips, tricks and ideas...thank you so much for all that your team puts together! I too usually have a few books on the go including "Tasha Tudor's Garden" by Tovah Martin. A used copy! :)
Linda, I feel like I’m fairly creative, however I never thought about using fruit to top around a plant! I love the apples with the orchids. You are so artistic and fabulous at so many things!! 😊❤️
A lovely book I am currently reading is the latest by Frances Mayes who wrote several books about Tuscany. Title is A Place in The World. It is about so many things; the love of homes and houses, how houses reflect their owners, foods that evoke memories, travel and some great insights about the impact of COVID on people and their sense of home. It gets so much better as you get into it.
Super video! I’ve been a fan for a while and love how you mix together gardening, interiors, thrifting (charity shopping here in the U.K.), reading etc. Basically most of the things I’m into. 👍🏻. All the best from The Cotswolds 💚🧡
Dangerous Liaisons is an all time favourite! Glen Close, John Malkovich, Michell Pfeiffer and Keneau Reeves, Uma Thurman etc…brilliant. I still have my VHS copy and am always on the lookout for the DVD! ❄️🇨🇦❄️
This is a little embarrassing but could you share your cleaning technique of the glass candle wax catchers? I did not use tapers but regular candle sticks that are a bit wider and it's very difficult to work the wax catchers off without breaking. ❤ your orchid arrangement!
That lovely heart shaped orchid reminds me of your lovely heart-shaped boxwood potager garden at the old house❣️ “My brilliant Friend” is a four book series by Elena Ferrente - loving it!
Perhaps the stick-on strike pads should go on the side of the container. These stick on pads can be abrasive and scratch the surface they sit on. You don’t want to damage any wood or scratch glass
Linda the appels around the Phaleanopsis Orchid may make shorten the life of the flowers. Appels are beautyfull but produce a gas that make flowers fading away quickly.
I use fruit a lot as part of my centerpieces. The one yellow apple with streaks of red helps to pull the color in from the art on your wall. Very fun video today.
Lovely table scape Linda❤ its always great to see you in your home. I hope you are keeping warm, you sound much better and fully recovered from your virus. 😊 I'm reading and enjoying James Nestor an American author "Breath" check it out it's fascinating. Sending love to all from Rosie O from a windy rainy Devon,England 🏴 x
I had a massive Jade plant at my old house, I had no idea what it was. It grew so big it split open the terracotta pot. I ended up digging it up and threw it away !!! I am aghast I did that now I am into gardening, OMG that Dancing Queen Amaryllis !! Stunning. Is it really as big or bigger than your head ??
I love your videos. You always give good ideas, advice, and suggestions. I'm reading from my public library Sense of Place: Design Inspired by Where We Live by Caitlin Flemming & Julie Goebel so far the book is very good and inspiring.
Reading Outlive by Peter Attia. Something about how he explains how to stave off the 4 Horsemen (Cancer, Diabetes, CV Disease, and Neurogenic Disorders) that are killing all of us is just very interesting and perhaps scaring me just enough to actually keep all my resolutions this year ❤
Great ideas. I do use fruit/moss and anything I find interesting in my floral designs. How about some mock tail recipes....I am always searching for good ones.
Hi from Annie those flowers such a happy sight they are and I love the orchards in the entrance in love heart shape too. Very romantic there with candles and all. I love the heart shapes too. I have a lot of that Jade in my garden I just take a bit off when they get too busy and plant them straight in to the ground. I do that with most plants and they grow well. Geraniums especially they just grow endlessly where ever you put them and so hardly. The red and pink shades of flowers are always welcoming.
I live in Queensland and have jade plants in the ground and pots. Some of them are 3ft tall. I have never used rooting hormone or calloused the cut stem of cuttings over. I just stick them in the ground/pot. Usually, I don't water them for the first couple of days. I've never had any issues. Maybe your cold weather might make a difference. We dont get the cold you do but we have the heat just now.
Loved the orchids and I have always found my orchids to rebloom about 3 times so don't cut off the stems until they turn brown. Loved the butterfly pictures behind you when sitting in the chair. I'm reading: The Heirloom Life Gardener by Jere & Emilee Gettle. Love all your ideas! ❤❤
Linda….you are brilliant. I love your decor and decorating style. Needless to say, I try to emulate your fabulous decorative designs. I also love your descriptive English verbology.
I love the orchard arrangement with the apples, I may have to steal your idea. You are so much fun to watch because you love what you are doing. I do need to find some wax drip glass rings.

And the bare tree branches look pretty in a cloudy sky. Have you ever seen Raymond Briggs The Snowman? It makes winter happy! ❤❄️☃️very frigid here in 7a New York.
Nice to see more spring ideas because in Tennessee we have been snowed and iced in with temps in the teens and single digits at night for a solid week now and can’t go nowhere 😢I’m a bit stir crazy and feeling restless.
I’m now going to have to do my orchids this way! Check the bottoms of those orchid leaves! They looked like they had some white “dots” on them- and my most recent ones had mealy bugs. Love love love all of your blue! I’m in a blue phase myself. I did a blue chinoiserie Christmas and it was beautiful.

I think it would be fun to have Hubs on your show and have him tell about his cottage experience and what he likes and don't like!
absolutely would love to see you both intereactive in a Q&A
@mquintero1278agree. Not every family member wants their life out there. He wants his privacy!
Would be SO FUN!!!

Love the orchid heart! I always buy a white orchid in January, but never have mulched with apples! Thats why I watch you!!

What a nice way to spend time with other people!
What a great idea to use 2 orchids and place them as a HEART! HEARTS ARE BEAUTIFUL!
I am a succulent queen and I never let them harden over. Never have any problems. Jade are such forgiving plants and make great gifts.
My amaryllis now has 3 gorgeous blooms. It was a Christmas gift from my grandson.. I have to periodically send him photos to show how glorious it is.
You look so pretty as usual. Don't think I've seen you in a black top lately and it looks so good on you along with your lipstick !! Think I have to get a jade plant !
The amaryllis in the bowl, as part of your table 38:59 scape, were such a beautiful touch. The colors were so rich.
When entertaining ,Spring Summer,I love to put fresh Lemons, tangerines in glass vessel w/ water, then place flowers within another slender vase inside.
Charming
Rereading Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher. She also wrote The Shell Seekers. Another good book. If you love all things UK 🇬🇧 you will love the settings.
I went on a real binge of reading her work for a while. Literary candy it is :-)
Just finished reading The Summer Skies by Jenny Colgan and binge watching season two of PBS' Portofino Hotel.

I'm currently reading "It's More Than the Music: Life Lessons on Friends, Faith, and What Matters Most" which was a Christmas gift from my son :-)
Wonderful video. Its 2 degrees here in Tennessee
I recommend Nyad, the swimmer from Cuba to Florida, I think on Netflix. Love your channel and your great ideas!
I love your channel. Not only because you gave us tons of good advises, but from my point of view, my English is my second language so thanks to you, my vocabulary is expending. Also your videos are very entertaining and sometimes very funny.

Your former potager garden of boxwoods were heart shaped, so that’s so surprising! Love all your content!

I turned out so pretty and I was surprised you didn’t point out the echo pattern of the heart orchid to the pattern around the top of the bowl!
Love Amanda Brooke’s ❤. Her decorating style is fabulous
Love your orchid arrangement💙
The lovely blue/white ceramic vessel is perfect!
Hi Linda, were you ever a hairstylist? Maybe you should try your hand at it.😊 You seem like a natural 😊
Loved this! great job with fun and new ideas and inspiration for us all!
We’ve been in the mid teens over night here in Middle Georgia, USA
This cold has us shook up! lol We’re hot blooded down here 😊 😂
Linda….you are brilliant.
3:16 will you please say where the gorgeous blue lamp with the camel shade is from? Every time I see it, I just love it.

Do you mean” Grow For Me 5b? “If so,I recommend them to followers as well. Eric and Christopher are great!
@@peggy-ann1961 yes. But I think they recently changed the name of the channel to grow for me gardening.
Love your videos. Beautiful ideas and great info.
I am a small town girl who moved to the city and found her true love 54 years ago.
I like the curly jade plant. Might have to get a little one. I have been reading mostly non fiction. And I like older classic novels I have not read. I was a huge reader in high school and college but more high school. Now with all this media I find myself using my phone for education. Right now I am using Duolingo to learn Russian.
Love your sideboard vignette! Thanks for sharing! Blessings from NC. ❤️❤️❤️
Loved it all!! ❤ Another informative, creative video 🥰
Love this video! 💖
Looks so beautiful! I so much enjoy your Saturday shows! Hugs
I enjoy these videos! I'm wondering if you have a link for the blue pillows that you have around your dining table?
I’m now going to have to do my orchids this way! Check the bottoms of those orchid leaves! They looked like they had some white “dots” on them- and my most recent ones had mealy bugs. Love love love all of your blue! I’m in a blue phase myself. I did a blue chinoiserie Christmas and it was beautiful.
I love this video. Thank you for all the great tips!
It's warmer here at the lake in Holland Mi! Lol. But today alone we've had like10 inches of lake effect. It may be the last hurrah! Then it warms up. I know jade plants will take really well when you repot the cuttings. Smart idea with the rooting powder! I'm planning on rooting my lavender. We'll see if I can do it successfully.
Good luck👍
Have you considered Air Tags? They are wonderful!
My travel tip when checking luggage: I use my oldest rolling bags that are bold and floral tapestry. I can almost guarantee I’ll have no problem mixing mine up with the 100’s of black, navy, silver etc. at the pick up carousel!
Nice and cozy
What an inspirational video, as always! Looking forward to your live video tomorrow. ❤
Wish we had a Trader Joe store in my town!!! Gorgeous arrangement!
I need to pot up 20 Rosemary plants I rooted and are in green Sweet Leaf Stevia bottles!
I really like your wall hat rack. So much, I got one for my gardening hats.
Unfortunately, I messed up trying to mount it w/ the provided expandable anchors and can't drive in one of the screws enough to seat the rack flat against the wall. 🥴
This is what happens when I am unable to get into my garden. Winter projects.
BTW, my amaryllis bulbs are blooming. Fortunately, I have red and white flowers. Too late for Christmas, but just in time for Valentine's Day (a holiday I loathe more than Christmas - did I mention I had a retail marketing career? Holidays were ruined for me.)
I love your channel and favorites suggestions. I'll be ordering the yellow passport cover and luggage tag. I have the same problem!!
Hopefully, we won't be flying together! Lol Or that would be cool! I was wondering where you bought the butterflies framed behind you. I love them! Etsy, maybe? Thanks for sharing ❤
Linda...2 pm CST is 3 pm Eastern...not 1 pm.
Oops!
Linda, as always, great taste! And, BY the way sorry if I missed it: where did you get the sleeveless gray sweater? Looks cute!
No need rooting hormone for succulents. Jade plant can grow from a single leaf.
I helps Linda if you hit like on her videos. I feel like that is the least I can do for all the work she does for us.
I was looking for a new neck wrap today! Do you have a link?
Love following you! Gosh, I wish you would share your lip color!
Do all plant cuttings need to be “callused” or just Jade plants?
Will you put cuttings on a heating mat?
What name brand is your mock neck top?
❤❤❤
You make me laugh Stewart with some of those comments
