I’ve been investigating the church for years and these videos are awesome! In addition to studying the Scriptures, I find any questions I have you guys have a video about on your channel. Thank you!
Please do not let these videos be the only source where you get your answers. Search church history from The Gospel Topic Essays, The History of the Church and all their volumes. The Journal of Discourses etc.
You've been investigating the church for years? Can I ask you why you haven't decided to take the plunge, so to speak? As someone who joined the church more than fifty years ago, I remember thinking they couldn't get the baptismal font filled fast enough! I brought my entire family into the church and my pastor and an elder visited me in an attempt to talk me/us out of it. We didn't let them do it and we've never regretted it. So please don't delay. If you approach it prayerfully, you'll never regret it, either. So much of how we're judged depends on _when_ we accept the gospel. Eventually, every knee shall bend and every tongue confess Christ, but so much depends on when we do so. God has done so much for us. Perhaps that's why he expects so much from us as to when we accept what He's given us. Just sayin'....
@@brettmajeske3525 Sure the Discourses of Brigham Young shows how much of a racist and misogynistic he was. How he said things "in God's name" that was put into policies and doctrine that were racist. I mentioned the Journal of Discourses because it has been taught, preached, and quoted from for a very long time.
@@Hanleia1 I am going to quote myself from another thread where we were talking about Journal of Discourse accuracy. Brigham Young, like many other early leaders, was only partially literate. He had only 3 days of formal schooling. Multiple wives wrote in their journals that they would spend their evenings reading to BY both newspapers and private letters, which he would then dictate responses. At the time he did not have an official record of his sermons. For the most part they were extemporaneous and unscripted. George Watt, who had learned Pittman shorthand in England(where he was from) was a reporter for the Desert News, (and later the Salt Lake Tribune) whose assignment was to cover Pres Young both as Prophet and Governor. From all evidence he became friends with BY and received permission to independently publish sermons from various Church leaders.
As far as can be determined from official minutes where the project was discussed, the general attitude was that of relief. The Church would not need to pay individuals to record sermons, or pay for publishing. Preserving a record for latter generations was not their priority in the early days of Utah. The project became so financially successful for Watt that he quit his day job, (later sources claimed he was fired but I can not confirm that) and he hired/trained others to take the actual dictation while he remained the chief editor of the Journals.
This continued until after he was excommunicated. Even though several Apostles and other leaders objected, all the professional transcriptionists worked for Watt. Leaders wanted an alternative, which launched in 1899 as the official General Conference Report, which has been published twice a year ever since. At the time, the JD was still the most popular source for past sermons. For a long time it was the only source. Even after alternate sources for then current sermons became available, the JD was the only published source for the early Utah period.
As the LDS Church did not even own the copyright, and had no editorial control, several leaders including both B.H. Roberts and James E Talmage publicly refuted the JD citing John Taylor, Ezra Snow, and Wilford Woodruff, all contemporaries of BY who argued the JD had 'misunderstood' some of BY's teachings. By this time the JD had become rooted in the traditions of the LDS Church, even though it had never been approved as either doctrine or scripture. As those with personal memories of BY died off, objections became less frequent. By 1950, it was only professional historians and academics who commonly complained. It was still never officially endorsed, and as the primary instructional handbooks of the time were inspired by Talmage, not used as an authorized sabbath curriculum.
In 1941 an alternative to the JD was finally published, called the Discourses of Brigham Young, by John A Widtsoe, an Apostle and academic. Although not an official publication of the Church, Widtsoe went through hundreds of historic records verifying accuracy. This is the work that has become of the standard in all official publications since that time. It never became as popular as the JD. I suspect because the language of DBY is 'drier', and less 'hellfire' than the more exciting JD.
When David McKay became Prophet, one of his desires was to update the instructional materials of the Church. This process, which started in the 1950's took decades to come to fruition, resulting in both the publication of Gospel Principles, (which although uncredited, was primarily written by Gordon B Hinkley) and the new editions of the Hymnal and the Standard Works.
At this time the JD was relegated to mostly historical curiosity. The only officially published manuals citing the JD were Institute of Religions class manuals discussing the history of the Church. The lack of competing narratives from the same time period guaranteed that it could not be excluded completely.
This is also the period where Google searchable Conference talks are available. Quotes from the JD are rare, but do exist. From reading the talks, it appears to me this was mostly a matter of familiarity. Every JD quote from this period can be verified with the more accurate DBY.
Finally in 1997 the first and only officially authorized document compiling the BY's words was published, in the first volume of 'The Teachings of the Presidents of the Church: Brigham Young'. To the best of my knowledge, it has replaced all prior sources of quotes of BY in all official settings.
Finally recent research indicates that the JD are even less reliable than previously believed. If you are interested in this research you can find it here:
Fun fact, my wife used to go on walks with a neighbor friend of ours, about 25-years ago, who worked as one of the church's senior architects. He clearly described their crowning project; the New Jerusalem Temple, which had already been fully designed and is ready to go once the church secures the land and gives the go-ahead, in Independence. The church already owns most of the land in and around the temple lot and working to secure the rest. He said the main spire will rise 40 stories high and the temple will have 12 domes surrounding the main spire and that the temple will be very large, seen for many miles away, and have 12 entrances around the fences with each tribe of Israel listed on ea. entrance. He talked in detail about many other things about the temple but said it will be used for both the main temple of the church and for a center of learning. He said they were also designing the church's headquarters, which will be near the temple and other things as the church prepares for their eventual headquarters and conference center in New Jerusalem.
Whenever a temple is raised in North America, there is also Solomon's Temple in Israel to be considered. What happens here is of course, part of the show, but the main events are happening in Israel and the Middle East. We are a branch of the tree but the roots and trunk are elsewhere.
I wonder if World War III will destroy all that and why would that not happen…at all? What if this ends all life because there is no God…or cuz of free agency…someone help me understand
It’s interesting watching this video again at the end of 2023. Especially with things going on over by Israel right now. Who knows if it’s the beginning of the war they talked about in the video, but it’s definitely interesting.
Carley Tall perhaps god was saying that there was no intent for Jesus to see Joseph again🤷♂️ using the “if you live till 85” as a kind of metaphor like “if you live till your 1000 you’ll see Jesus”
Great mental gymnastics Carley! Do you ever stop and wonder why belief in Mormonism requires so much mental gymnastics to maintain the churches narrative?
Great video, guys! I’m hoping a temple in Missouri will be announced in the upcoming conference 🤞🏽😂 If it doesn’t happen, then just reference this comment until it does happen 🤣
Ultra Gaming Well, i think there will still be plenty of prophecies that need to be built, but sometimes temples are announced and then it takes awhile to break ground. So maybe when the temple is built the saints there will have time to build up the kingdom of heaven there to prepare for Christ’s coming. Also, we never know WHEN exactly Christ will appear in the temple. Know what i mean? But building that temple would DEFINITELY be a big sign of his coming 😱
It won't, it's more in depth than it just being announced. I would reference you to W. Cylon Skousen's book Prophecy and Modern Times or Bruce R. Mconkies book Melinial Messiah
Other Christians believe the two witnesses will either be Enoch and Elijah because both men were 'translated' and so didn't actually die....and the Bible says in Hebrews 9:27 'And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement...' then when the two witnesses die that will be their 'once to die' time.... OR... Moses and Elijah who represent the Law and the Prophets.
We talk about the temple in New Jerusalem needs to be built before the second coming. Rev 21:2, 10 talk about New Jerusalem descending out of heaven. If that city exists already perhaps it already includes the temple and this prophecy could be fulfilled quickly. There are other scriptures that refer to this idea. Check out the Topical Guide.
So I watched a documentary on the 2 prophets in Jerusalem prophesy by the Joseph Smith foundation that was really interesting and well done. They put forth the idea that it is very possible that that prophesy has been fulfilled with Joseph and Hyrum’s death and they back up that claim with really interesting quotes by the prophets and scripture. Personally, I am not totally sure, but it makes a lot of sense. However, many prophesies are fulfilled more than once so....I guess we will learn as we go. I did really enjoyed thinking about it though and going through the scriptures on the topic during the documentary. You can subscribe to the living scriptures and watch their documentaries. I have a feeling you guys would think it was interesting as well.
It appears to me, by both scripture and experience, that the "second coming" is widely misunderstood, even in the Lord's true Church. The only way I see that can tie all the scriptures together is to remember that Jesus said "come again" not second coming. And Jesus comes again, not to the whole world, but to each individual. At Pentecost, Jesus came again, by His Spirit, fully into the lives of those present and believing. And so today, in the personal pentecost that is the true baptism of fire and sealing of the Holy Ghost, Jesus comes fully into the life of the individual who truly believes. As Jesus said in John 14:20, "On that day, you will know that I am in the Father, the Father is in me, and I am in you, and you are in me." This means, on a certain day in each individual's life, that you truly comprehend that you are One in the Spirit with the Father and with the Son, perhaps even forming a different version of the misused phrase, holy trinity. So this is how Jesus' promise of returning is fulfilled in every generation, to quote the title of Elder Bednar's book, one by one. This does not mean there won't be, as the Church teaches, a glorious return of Jesus to the Earth, for all to see. It just won't be a second coming, but more like a third coming. And Jesus can't Himself say the time or the hour because that coming in glory is dependent upon the free agency of every individual. I assure you He has no intention of coming back to be crucified, figuratively or literally, again. I testify, particularly to non-believers, that Jesus is fully alive now, and waiting to become fully alive in you. And in coming fully alive in you, He shall soon, as we are in the latter days, become alive in your family, your friends, and throughout the world. The Apostles of old waited upon the Lord for Pentecost, now it is the Lord that waits upon you to truly receive Him, even Jesus Christ.
If you people want to know about the second coming of Jesus read the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament. “In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the surviving remnant of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush, from Elam, from Babylonia, from Hamath and from the islands of the Mediterranean.” Isaiah 11:11 NIV
The JW's predicted the return of Christ several times and burned the texts they wrote when His return did not come. The Word of God says nobody knows the hour. We need to have oil (Holy Spirit) and our wicks trimmed. (Readiness. )
So you mentioned the stick of Ephraim… but I can’t figure out why the Book of Mormon is referred to as the Stick of Joseph of Ephraim, when it is actually derived from the records of Manasseh’s family. Even though they are brothers, it doesn’t make sense that it would be labeled in reference to one brother in the title, but be recorded as the heritage of the other brother throughout its own text.
I think they covered this at one point. Lehi is from one tribe, and his buddy Ishmale who provided the daughters for Nephi and co. to marry was from another.
Y’all ought to do a video on evolution and creationism and the church’s stance- as well as controversy about “how old” our earth is according to scripture
@@idontcareyo4850 It does not. All Official Proclamations require that all members of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve must agree. When Joseph F Smith wanted to issue a proclamation against Evolution back in the early 1900's only six of the fifteen would support it.
@@brettmajeske3525 Stop the dishonest apologetics. The church teaches the flood and tower of babel are literal events and play into the book of mormon narrative, which is also taught as literal.
@@juneholley1813 How am I being dishonest? The debates between Joseph F Smith and BH Roberts are a matter of public record? And I do not see how the Tower of Babel or Flood accounts have to do with the LDS Church's official stance on evolution, (which as I said, is that it does not have one).
if you read the scripture, it gives you the dimensions for the new Jerusalem that comes out of the sky and lands in Jackson county, Missouri but it is bigger then the county its self so I dont know how that works
Elder Bruce R. McConkie wrote: “These two shall be followers of that humble man, Joseph Smith, through whom the Lord of Heaven restored the fulness of his everlasting gospel in this final dispensation of grace. No doubt they will be members of the Council of the Twelve or of the First Presidency of the Church. Their prophetic ministry to rebellious Jewry shall be the same in length as was our Lord’s personal ministry among their rebellious forebears. “The two olive trees, and the two candlesticks [are] symbols of the two witnesses; meaning, perhaps, that as olive trees, they shall provide oil for the lamps of those who go forth to meet the Bridegroom; … and that as lamp stands they shall reflect to men that light which comes from Him who is the Light of the World.” (Doctrinal New Testament Commentary, 3:509-10.)
@@jordanvarnon4835 It wasn't just Bruce. The Mormon church through their prophets taught that segregation and racism was doctrinal and the will of god until 1978. They fought against the civil rights movement. They segregated members of African decent from temples, the priesthood and ordinances they teach are essential to live with god and their families after they die, only because their African decent. They have never apologized. Fact.
@@juneholley1813 yes there was a lot of racism back then. I am pretty sure that the sentiment of the church now is those things were wrong. How much of an apology do you want?
What I learned is that the meeting with Christ and Adam will not be made known to the public simply because those of us on earth are not on the side of the veil that it will actually take place on. My religion teacher is kind of a nut, but it makes sense to me.
If your religion teacher is Mormon then he is a nut. To be a believing mormon you must accept the churches position that God sent an angel with a sword to force the already married Joseph Smith to groom and have relationships with children against his will or be destroyed.
@@juneholley1813 The Angel came down with a sword because Joseph wasn’t going to keep a commandment. Yeah, a lot of what he did definitely would NOT fly in today’s standards, but the accounts that we have from MANY sources actually shows that Polygamy was one of the most excruciating ordeals that Joseph had to deal with. He sat with the guilt and fear of practicing polygamy for 8 years before he finally decided to make it public. You all think he received the revelation and immediately started taking ladies, but you guys are missing the whole meat and potatoes of the story.
@@sarahdougall9535 Joseph Smith, a grown married man, married children as young as 14. He married his adopted teenage daughters and live in house help. He married almost a dozen women who were currently married to other men. He lied about these relationships to his only legal wife Emma, church members, and the authorities. He had others lie for him to hide his actions. And you are willing to reconcile all this?
Sean S Yes. If you found evidence that the density of man is greater than the density of water and, therefore, causes humans to sink into water large bodies of water and not float when standing, would you still believe the New Testament to be literally true as well? There are countless more things that can be proven to be false in the constraints of mortal life and mortal science that are believed by Christians.
I’ve watched many videos recently on NDE’s and NOT ONCE has ANY of those who have had that experience has noted ANY mention as to WHAT church, if any are the “true church”, so how do you explain WHAT church is the “true” church?
"What does the Christian world know about God? Nothing... Why so far as the things of God are concerned, they are the veriest fools; they know neither God nor the things of God." - Prophet John Taylor, Journal of Discourses, v. 13, p. 225
I am an active member of the church. It has blessed my life and would never jump ship especially with all the revelations we continue to receive. But I have a sincere question. Did JS have a physical copy of the plates? And how often did he use it? It seems to be very vague in the accounts. I would be fine if it was all done spiritually through the stones or even direct revelation. The BoM is too theological and spiritually valuable to disregard it by something trivial. I just don’t want the vagueness
@@jordanvarnon4835 The only people claiming vagueness were second and third hand reporters. The actual statements from the first hand witnesses are extremely consistent about the physicality of the plates.
“And we also testify that we have seen the engravings which are upon the plates; and they have been shown unto us by the power of God, and not of man.” 3 witnesses
I am more concerned that Kwaku defends the racism and segregation towards people with African decent that was preached as doctrine and the will of god by the mormon church until 1978.
@@juneholley1813 very good point. Though I was in for 37 years and believed the lies, whitewashed information and had the us vs them mentality the Mormon church and other cults are so great at instilling in its members.
In this generation in the New Testament could also refer to John the Beloved because he hasn't died yet. In the D&C the SL Temple could qualify as being built within the generation as a possible fulfillment. 1890 wasn't that near when Wilford Woodruff issued the manifesto? Maybe he saw Christ?
Maybe the Lord meant that if Joseph lived to be 85… he would be translated instead of physically dying… but knowing the things Joseph was facing that was unlikely?
@@refreshingdesignsjewelry What about in 1918 and 1919 with the Spanish flu? Wake up! Stop accepting claims that defy reality, science, and common sense.
But what if the second coming happened with the fall of the temple in Jerusalem when all the records of the Jews were lost... the book of revelations starts with, shortly and the time is near and if you look at the original text in the Greek, it is the words that always means in a very short time and also states in Matthew 24:34 that (talking about the his return) that it will happen in this generation, and if you do the math, whenever it is talked about a generation, it is about 38 to 42 years... also talks about the mark of the beast, if you take the numerical value for the Hebrew letters and relate that to the the ruler then, it was Nero, which Hebrew value is 666... and if you look at the fragment 113 which is dated back to over 1700 years ago, it has the number 616 which is equivalent to the Greek translation of nero which is Nro... and the list goes on... so, if it happened then, that would completely discredit all of what Mormonism is based on... would it not?
The occasion of Paul’s writing to the Thessalonians was to correct some of the errors concerning the end times that the believers had heard from false teachers. Among the falsehoods was that “the day of the Lord has already come” (2 Thessalonians 2:2). The Christians in Thessalonica were afraid that Jesus had already come, they had missed the rapture, and they were now in the tribulation. Paul had already explained the rapture to them in his first letter (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Paul writes his second letter to assure them that, contrary to what they had heard, and despite the persecution they were enduring, the “day of Christ” had not yet come. In 2 Thessalonians 2:3, Paul makes it clear that the day of the Lord, a time of worldwide judgment (Isaiah 13:6; Obadiah 1:15), will not transpire until two things happen. First, the falling away, or great apostasy, must occur. Second, the “man of lawlessness” must be revealed, he who is called the “son of perdition,” also known as the Antichrist. Once this person makes himself known, the end times will indeed have come... the man of lawlessness could have very well been Nero.
so basically what I am saying is that after 1 Thessalonians , the people thought that they missed the second coming so I the second letter, he wrote to assure them that he has not yet come...
it wouldn't necessarily discredit everything... but the bible was written to the people then... it isnt written to us now but we read it too follow the word of God and not fall into the troubles that they did back then. It also tells us how to reach true salvation and be with our father in heaven again... not how to become gods ourselves. It tells us how to test profits to tell if they are false like Joseph Smith.
Jeff Peters I think you mean *prophets*. Also, if that’s what it teaches, you shouldn’t waste your time nitpicking other Christian groups. You should be focused on spreading the message of the Savior to the people of Asia and Oceania, (the Buddhists and Hindus know nothing of Jesus Christ!), so they know how to reach true salvation.
Yeah...Not sure about the whole continents coming together again thing. Plate tectonics was not a theory until the late 1800s. So there's no way this interpretation could be derived from scripture.
Are you implying that God can only reveal truth once it has been accepted by the scientific community? Think before commenting. D&C 133:20-24 20 For behold, he shall stand upon the mount of Olivet, and upon the mighty ocean, even the great deep, and upon the islands of the sea, and upon the land of Zion. 21 And he shall utter his voice out of Zion, and he shall speak from Jerusalem, and his voice shall be heard among all people; 22 And it shall be a voice as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder, which shall break down the mountains, and the valleys shall not be found. 23 He shall command the great deep, and it shall be driven back into the north countries, and the islands shall become one land; 24 And the land of Jerusalem and the land of Zion shall be turned back into their own place, and the earth shall be like as it was in the days before it was divided.
@@chrissessions6108 No. I'm saying that by applying our modern understanding to ancient texts we will inevitably arrive at an incorrect interpretation. Ancient scripture needs to be interpreted through the lens of the culture that it originated from.
Don't forget that people were called to be prophets before Christ without being Apostles. Therefore it is possible to call prophets without calling them as apostles. Nephi was a prophet though he lived at the same time as the apostles, so we had a prophet on earth at the time of the principle church of Christ. I believe the 2 in Jerusalem won't be apostles at all.
Is Bruce R mcconky (sorry I don't know how to spell his name) like have a lot of humor in his talks or is he actually being serious and a little dramatic? I am a member of the church, but I haven't heard of any of these stories and so I was just wondering.
@Brent Anton Many natives do have a knowledge of Jesus (modern Christian Jesus) and many believe the "white God" that was to return again, as told in traditional stories, was indeed Jesus Christ. Each tribe that refers to this person, uses a different name and some translate as Elder Brother. Some stories say that this "white God" said "follow me for I am the truth. Some Natives thought that the Spanish was the "white God" returning but the "white God" gave a particular "code" (a certain handshake) so he could be identified. When the Spanish couldn't give the correct code, certain tribes sent them on their way. So yes, there are people that believe Natives have always had a knowledge of Jesus, he was called by different names.
That's because the LDS church is false. There is no genetic, linguistic, or cultural evidence to substantiate this claim that the Mongoloid native American Indians are descended from Semitic Israelites.
Matthew Dawson Similarity does not mean the same thing, if they saw the son of god there is absolutely no way they would let that story get so corrupted. It would be the pride of their tribes. If you want to talk about similarities the flood is such a common legend and myth with flood stories dating back even older than the biblical one.
@@mikegipson6996- One DNA used to condemn the Book of Mormon is mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). Only women pass mtDNA to their children. All of us inherited our mtDNA from our mothers. The other genetic marker being used is the Y-chromosome (Y-chr), which is passed by men to their sons. Tom Murphy, Simon Southerton, and others claim the Book of Mormon is false because neither Middle East mtDNA nor Y-chr has been found among the American Indians. Here are a few reasons for that. Lehi and his family of no more than 40 individuals sailed into an area already populated by tens of thousands of people. They intermarried with the natives and their mtDNA and Y-chr disappeared within a few generations. Another reason would be that after the arrival of Europeans in 1492, the native population was drastically reduced by warfare and disease. In the National Geographic video "America Before Columbus," Professor Andrew Isenburg of Temple University said that upwards of 90% of the Indians died within 50 years. Entire villages and tribes vanished. That means that all DNA tests performed today would be on the descendants of the 10 or 20 percent who survived. That is not a very accurate sampling. Also many tribes have refused to participate in any genetic database tests. My final reason is the unreliability of mtDNA and Y-chr. Our second daughter married a man whose paternal line is Danish and whose maternal line is Japanese. They have a daughter and two sons. All three children have the mtDNA of their mother, which is my wife's mtDNA, which is from Sweden. The boys have their father's Y-chr, which is from Denmark. Using the same tests that Murphy and Southerton cite to support their argument, one can prove that those children have Swedish ancestry, and that the boys have Danish ancestry. But NO ONE can prove that they also have Japanese ancestry! If those tests cannot find any mtDNA from their Japanese grandmother, who is alive, how reliable are those tests in finding Israelite mtDNA or Y-chr from 2,600 years ago? The lack of Japanese mtDNA in those children DOES NOT mean that they are not part Japanese! The lack of Israelite mtDNA or Y-chr in the surviving American Indians DOES NOT disprove the Book of Mormon! The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
Look up the post about the appearance of the Messiah to representatives of many of the American Indian Tribes in 1890. It caused enough furor that the US Army visited many of the tribes to learn why the Indians were so excited. Susa Young Gates published a report about this event. Joseph would have been 85 in 1890. He would likely have been in attendance. Coincidence?

Sister Stoddard does not preach doom and gloom but, like the general authorities, suggests this is an exciting time to be alive and witness fulfillment of long-foretold prophecies.
@@Hanleia1 Well I would suggest the Discourses of Brigham Young instead of the Journal of Discourses, as it is notoriously unreliable.

That sounds awesome, I want to be alive to see that.
Whenever a temple is raised in North America, there is also Solomon's Temple in Israel to be considered. What happens here is of course, part of the show, but the main events are happening in Israel and the Middle East. We are a branch of the tree but the roots and trunk are elsewhere.

17:22 I agree. Also, the idea that they could be 2 elder missionaries is mind blowing.
Thank u! I’ve been waiting for this one 😊
Thoughts on Vaughn J. Featherstone letter that is in a time capsule at the Atlanta Georgia Temple that will be open in the year 2033.
What up y’all, coming straight from Jackson County
The Reformation was an important event leading up to the Restoration.
“In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the surviving remnant of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush, from Elam, from Babylonia, from Hamath and from the islands of the Mediterranean.”
Isaiah 11:11 NIV
Oh! Another prophecy is that Church headquarters will be moved to Missouri. I have some theories, but i will leave them out 😇😅
Oh yeah I forgot about that one I’ve heard of many others too but the list would be too long
The JW's predicted the return of Christ several times and burned the texts they wrote when His return did not come.

Is the second coming at Jerusalem? Or in Missouri?
“Faith like potatoes” such a good Christian movie!!
It would also discredit everything that had happened in the last 1900 years...
it wouldn't necessarily discredit everything... but the bible was written to the people then... it isnt written to us now but we read it too follow the word of God and not fall into the troubles that they did back then.
D&C 133:20-24
20 For behold, he shall stand upon the mount of Olivet, and upon the mighty ocean, even the great deep, and upon the islands of the sea, and upon the land of Zion.
21 And he shall utter his voice out of Zion, and he shall speak from Jerusalem, and his voice shall be heard among all people;
22 And it shall be a voice as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder, which shall break down the mountains, and the valleys shall not be found.
23 He shall command the great deep, and it shall be driven back into the north countries, and the islands shall become one land;
24 And the land of Jerusalem and the land of Zion shall be turned back into their own place, and the earth shall be like as it was in the days before it was divided.
@@chrissessions6108 No. I'm saying that by applying our modern understanding to ancient texts we will inevitably arrive at an incorrect interpretation. Ancient scripture needs to be interpreted through the lens of the culture that it originated from.
@@MichaelEllisYT how do you interpret D&C 133 (not ancient scripture)? I think it clearly means that the continents will join back together.

Why do the natives of America have no knowledge of Jesus and who He was if He revealed Himself to their anscestors.
@@mikegipson6996 What Native community are you from? I would love to hear your stories that are passed down to each generation.
Hey, I have ancestors from the Isle of Man. * gives disapproving look *
Dude, actually Jesus has already returned.... I saw him downtown and he asked me if he could borrow $1.37.
10:06 - What, specifically, are these “facts” that are being disputed?

And about the two prophets: we do sustain the apostles as "prophets, seers and revelators" (watch out for the plural) 😉
Actually EVERYBODY ALREADY knows exactly "when Christ is coming again". He's coming "pretty soon". He's BEEN coming "pretty soon for well over 2000 yrs, and in 2000 more yrs he'll STILL be coming "pretty soon"!!!
I think the whole 85-year-old thing means that if Joseph Smith had seen his 85th birthday that means the world would have been righteous enough to receive Christ. Obviously if the bulk of the world cannot receive Christ’s prophet they probably won’t receive Christ.
Except he did see Christ at least 2 times in his lifetime.

I copied and pasted this reply from another member of the church because I couldn't have said it better! You need to be careful on how you classify some members just because they are sharing the signs of the scriptures God has given us! We may not know the very hour but yes God has given the children of the light to know the season of His coming!!!
This next paragraph is from another member-"I have watched several of Sister Stoddard's videos and found nothing that cannot be verified in the scriptures or by statements made by general authorities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I may not agree 100% with her conclusions, but she does not make any claim to know when prophecies will be fulfilled or exact dates that certain events will take place (unlike the Daybells or any number of apostates / false prophets). Sister Stoddard does not preach doom and gloom but, like the general authorities, suggests this is an exciting time to be alive and witness fulfillment of long-foretold prophecies. Her works do not encourage me to do anything other than what I have already been doing - studying, praying, and working to build God's kingdom in preparation for the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ."
Ps I like most of your vidios but classifying someone as a conspiracy theoriest because they share the signs of the gospel was rude!😑
If you are a beveling Mormon you are a conspiracy theorist that accepts claims that contradict evidence, logic, and science.

Matthew 16:28 " Assuredly I say to you, there are some standing here that will not taste death till they see the coming of the Son of Man coming in His Kingdom" Question. Are the people Jesus was speaking to, still standing there? The answer of course is no, because Jesus did come prior to the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Start reading history guys. Try The "War of the Jews" and "Jewish antiquities" by Favius Josephus. Jesus was seen coming in the clouds by hundreds of Jews in those days. Also read the works of Tacitus about the Jews, and Eusibius.
