Explanation - Dodge Neon, Chevy HHR, Saturn Ion Lower Control Arm Bolt Spinning

  • This is to explain what is actually going on when you try to replace a lower control arm on one of these vehicles but the vertical bolt through the arm and through the frame is just spinning. It could be stuck in the bushing sleeve as well but this is the common reason.

    I just ran into this on my wifes 06 saturn ion. I had no idea what to do. I was going to take the sub frame off mine. You have just made my day by saving me a ton of work. THANK YOU for taking the time to make this video.😊

    On a Hyundai 06 elantra I used a sawzall and cut the bolt under the nut so the bolt drops down. I used a small cold chisel to pry up the edge of the cage to help get the blade in there. There wasnt enough room on top to drive the bolt up as you did. Great video.

    Just did the lower arms on a 2010 Chevy cobalt, had same issue on one side. I was able to get a wrench in the slot behind where the bolt goes in and got that nut off.
