New IC motors only have one feature in common:. A crankshaft.
And V8 90° design goes WAY BACK, past flathead fords of 1932......
The technology has evolved a Ton or 2!!!
Only two valves per cylinder, and not crossflow. Pushrods, rocker arms, heavy valve springs, one camshaft. Even when supercharged, can't get enough flow. Take the hot Camaro with the supercharger. Go from 0-160. The GT500 is over 5 seconds faster. The old small block just runs out of breath. The new C8 engine is properly designed. But I'd wait for the supercharged edition. That will probably beat the Plaid, but the Plaid 2 and Tesla Sports Car are coming. The latter will be much lighter.
When you’re asking almost double of MSRP - yea no shit they gonna sit. And the fact they’re marking up and letting them sit in the sun - no thanks.

Chevrolet PROMISED there would be no Dealership markups, $60,000 for the Base model and $75,000 for the Z package. I haven't seen one under $100,000 yet and I have seen them as high as $120,000

They aren’t selling because they are marking them up higher than other dealerships. Given the cheap airline prices over the past year, it’s cheaper to travel out of state to buy one that isn’t marked up like crazy.

Dealer in my town was asking 92K for a basic 1LT when the MSRP on the sticker was $62K. It sat in the showroom for over 6 months before they dropped the price. The dealership one town over sold an 1LT for $63k the same day it arrived at the dealer. I will wait until I can find one without a crazy markup. Greedy bastards. That Ceramic Matrix grey is the business. Good choice.

@@c8pate744 Its gorgeous! I'm still preferring the C7 over the C8. I'm starting to see a few C8s around town and they're beautiful cars, but they need to "lower" the front end a little more for it to look right. That's the one issue I've had with the C8 since launch.
1. I will never pay over MSRP
2. It would never cross my mind to reward GM for putting a pushrod engine in their new flagship.
3. The Z06 is right around the corner and the ZR1 is right behind that, I can wait.

3. The ZR1 has not even been mentioned or talked about and will most likely be a hybrid or all electric.

The ls engine is hands down the best engine produced by any manufacturer. Its proves that over and over. Stock bottom end record is something like 1300whp, come on now. You can keep that dohc, no low end, shit.

THey are still charging 40k too much ..... Drop and sell or hold on to them until they are depreciated even more. What they are not considering is that at that price point you can't make 5 million of them.

You’re too focused on HP. You do realize that the C8 will eat up a Hellcat from a dig 0-60 while only having “495 hp”, right? Lol These C8’s are really quick regardless of the HP. The weight of a car, the aerodynamics & the transmission all play a part. It’s not only about HP. These cars are overpriced, but at the same time, it’s still a deal at 100k... Especially when you compare other cars in that price range. 0-60 in 2.8 seconds isn’t a slouch at all. Those are supercar numbers.
Not to mention it will spank a Hellcat really bad on a road course or any place where you actually have to make a turn.

A good way to get a c8 at msrp is to join a Corvette club with a Chevy Dealer as a sponsor as most will sell to club members at MSRP plus a few hundred for the paperwork. That is how I ordered 1 just have to wait 9-12 months to get it but thats better than paying double.

That’s why Chevy manufactures stated it if dealerships want to do that they’ll get less order allocations for their lot . When the Z06 come in they gonna have to sell those cars if they want to order more.

Hey C8 Pate, I just saw this video you made, I’m from the area your on Ogden ave at the Maserati I mean the POOR MANS FERRARI DEALERSHIP! Now I don’t know what kind of business your in that you do for a living, I am in the business of high line exotic car buying,trading& selling in the Chicago market. C8 P, you sound like a very smart & educated consumer no doubt on that. With that being said let me explain to you what’s currently happening in this business presently. 1st of all the original dealers delivery dates we’re pushed back so that caused a 4-5 month production delay due to GM manufacturing plant employee strike. Then not to mention that every 2020 VETTE due to be built had already been assigned to an owner a year before production. In your video you say the phrase “ for such a high production number car” the price point on the car is almost doubled. If you do the math there was 20,368 total units produced, there are 4,300 Chevrolet dealers in the country that is just a hair under 5 C8’s per dealer. Now some dealers do get more than other because In order to get more vetted in your dealer allocation pipeline your salesman have better be producing a CSI RATING which is a survey that every manufacturer sends out to everyone who has bought there product and they want to know how knowledgeable, your salesperson was how satisfied was your experience…….. ECT, ECT,ECT. Some dealers pay customers to make sure they get all good scores and customers do it when the manager comes and congratulates them on there purchase he gives them a copy of what the survey will look like and then says I hope you enjoy your new car and please don’t forget to fill out your survey to the tune of $200 cash just for filling out the survey with all great scores & dropping it off after they fill it out and pick up there $200 cash. If there was a problem with anything please write it separately and give to him and he will address the issues. This is how dealers get a better allocation of cars. So let’s say that the most C8’s some dealers got for 2020 was 10 maybe 14 units others got 1-2 units some got none! Now you have people who want the car but can’t even get one in there state because there local Chevrolet dealer won’t get any and don’t forget there all spoken for! So what do dealers do ask a premium some 5k over sticker some 10k over M.S.R.P depending on how it’s ordered! Then you have people that just put in the order so they can just sell there order slot which means there profiting off selling there allocation to them! All,these things cause the market to rise on the car plus not to mention the microchip shortage happening now, has cause used cars to shoot up in values. I have a friend who manages a Ford dealer and he went to the Manheim dealer auction and everything is $3-4 k out of the N.A.D.A book which is what banks loan out on cars. He tried to buy a 2019 Ford Festiva se with 7400 miles on it and do You want to know how much it sold for? $17,400 !!!!! That’s insane the M.S.R.P WAS $18,400 back in 2019! ACV ON THE CAR IS ABOUT $11,500 in real money but we’re faced with a used car shortage because they have 2022’s waiting for dealer delivery because in 09/22 2023’s will be arriving the whole market is in a real bad place at the moment dealers are overpaying for cars at auctions and trades because they can’t get inventory! I hope this clears up and helps you make sense out the situation. You also grabbed a new SuB! Also another thing when they start taking 23 ZO6 orders buy one if you can separate from $5-$7k you’ll make 3 times whatever you ask for it cause that will be a low production car! And get it in black, white, Le Mans blue,red or orange! And order it 3lt option it out and you’ll make $10k just because you have a order in your name! I literally see them everywhere now. I have a 10 minute drive to work, and I saw 3 of them in just one trip, and I live in a smaller town. I am glad that I decided to go with the Lexus LC 500. I have yet to see another one out in the wild. I know it’s bc they are not as popular, but I like that. I like being the only one in town, at least that I know of. It’s definitely not gonna win too many races, and would totally get smoked by the C8, but speed isn’t that important to me, especially after the first month. I prefer to have the rarity, back seat, and that Lexus reliability. Both are gorgeous vehicles.
So the lc500 is a car I want to add the my collection for sure! Convertible of course! Im a huge lexus fan, I have owned a bunch of them
@@c8pate744 Definitely a worthy car for any collection! I’ve always been a coupe guy myself, but you can’t go wrong either way. I feel like the market is going to be flooded with used C8’s within the next 2 years when the 2020 leases start expiring. Where the car market will be by that time, Idk, but I think getting into a used 2020 C8 will be relatively cheap by then.
This is exactly why I got the 2019 TT RS cheaper, faster, and rare as F!!!

I wouldn't buy either of these 2 C8's without a 5 k under sticker. Sitting outside for 5 months means the bird crap and water spots are into the paint for good. It would take some serious paint correction just to get back to looking like a factory new car. They'll need wet sanding, compounding and polishing from a real pro, not, some lot boy with a sandy rag.

On new inventory GM is tracking how long a c8 sits on a dealers lot. So if they’re charging over msrp, it will likely take longer to sell and should effect allocation numbers for 2022. However in this video I’m guessing these are used, since I believe he mentions they are 2020 models. GM does not track used c8 inventory.
Price and demand people. They limit production and everyone wants one. People are making 30K buy just flipping the car. Not always the dealers fault.

In Asia, C8's are priced at around 210k USD because of taxes etc. That's more than a Lexus LC500 which is 200k flat. Fyi, Aventadors are 750k used. LOL

No they won't. Chevy isn't coming close to meeting the demand and are only falling farther behind. These 2 cars are over priced but dealers are now getting $10k+ over msrp pretty regularly if you don't want to wait a year or more. Wait til the Z06 hits....it's $50k over just to start talking about one.
I’m a money hoarder so if I want one bad enough I wait a few years and buy a used one or even better a salvaged one, I never buy nothing brand new. These dealers want to take every penny you got in yo pocket so you gotta learn how to hard negotiate.

@@c8pate744 well they just released the procharger for the NA C8 pushes 675 conservatively. Z06 is what 670 ish so slap in a pro charger maybe high 7 low 8. So maybe ZR1 comes stock with 850 ish give or take.
There are some C8's in my west St. Louis county area. They are just sitting there everyday I drive by the car lots.

We as Americans can be proud to know that our technological advances regarding the manufacturing of these incredible vehicles are just a good or superior to foreign exotics 3 and 4 times the cost. Our American engineers have created a vehicle here that is truly incredible and they were able to keep the price at a point that the consumer would truly be given incredible quality at an insanely great price but alas the greed of man never ceases to demonstrate it's ambitions. Yet as another mentioned here in this comment section, the consumer is truly the price setter!!! Love it!!!!

Once the price of the car exceeds 60 -70 thousand dollars your eliminating 97 percent of buyers and out of the 3 percent of potential buyers probably 2 percent that have the funds to spend on such a thing have no interest in buying it because they are older and would more than likely prefer a SUV or 4 door truck

steveloweese, in 1988, when the Ferrari F40 hit the market in enough numbers for some to be available, Ferrari priced them at only $290,000. I am not kidding. Not a single one sold for under $500k!! One even fetched nearly $1 million! That's a rare exception because they were built in very tiny numbers and were shocking and radical for their time. There is nothing the C8 has that makes it special in any way so I doubt ANY dealer will sell them when they're demanding $30-40K over MSRP. They can keep them. I don't care if they rust out, sitting in the baking hot Texas sun all day....

It's 110k That's why they have been sitting there for 5 months. I'm glad these dealerships are realizing not all consumers are just dummies that will pay that much for a car that's soon to be 2 years old with a msrp of 65k.

These dealers need to check these prices. These are not 100k + cars. With a starting MSRP of around 60K and the ZO6 coming out. These dealer mark ups are ignorant. There are 2 forsale near me the lower prices one is 122k.

I currently own 2 Corvettes was ready to buy a C8 but a few things got in the way. My 2019 Suburban had a major engine failure with the AFM lifters and bent pushrods and the costly repair which has me very hesitant to drop major coin again on another new GM product. Around the same time I was presented with a opportunity to get a air cooled Porsche 911 cheap and I'm restoring that. I have no regrets since i'm dealing with rapid appreciation and simplicity on the 911 as opposed to a nightmare of complexity and depreciation on the Vette. No way would I pay over sticker for that car or own it after the warranty is expired. Maybe the last for a DIY home guy for long term use would be something like the LS3 engine.

This guy has no idea what he's talking about. I work at G.M and just got my brand new Z51 C8. Base model is at 57'000, add Z51 package for 5,000 more. No one wants ro buy someone else's pre-order C8. It's cheaper and easier to order one through the dealer ship with your own unique style (color,rims,etc).
What's the list price how much are those marked up over list that's why NO SALE
I am wanting to order one now for delivery in April 2023, but I do not trust the dealerships (even if they advertise it) to honor the MSRP. Any dealerships you can recommend? I will fly there to take delivery if needed.
