I personally enjoyed the let's go one more. Here are some reasons: - The game is actually longer (let's go) I finished Sword in just 15 hours, not even rushing it - The lack of endgame content: You can argue that the DLC is the endgame, but I refuse to buy that. The endgame felt like it was cut from the main game and sold separately to get more cash. I don't support business like that, especially since I also share games with friend (they don't get the DLC from the cartridge alone). DLC should be always about extra stuff on top of a finished game, but sword/shield felt unfinished in this very area. Let's go eevee had the classic "red" as true endboss, which motivates you to train past the main storyline. Sword/shield also lacked endgame dungeons, secrets or mystery that a typical pokemon game have (remember distortion world from platinum? Mew and mewtwo?) - The first 150(+2) pokemon looks better and are more memorable, my opinion - Lets go wasn't nearly as linear as sword/shield is - Dungeon design in Let's go were far superior - graphics, storytelling , arena battle and character costumes were better in shield/sword - in sword/shield you can cheese the level of your chosen pokemon. I didn't even look this up. I joined a raid, beat the hell out of it, received exp items, used it all on one pokemon. BAM. Lvl 30 before fighting the first gym leader. Since you also share exp in the game, you won't need to use any other pokemon. Power level them with your main lvl 30 pokemon, and cheese all gym leaders. I was so surprised they gave you such an obvious way to cheese the game. While eevee was a powerhouse, at least eevee was killable. In sword/shield I was overleveled all the time. My fault? Not really. It shouldn't be possible in the first place. First big area should cap level at 10-15. Not jumping straight to lvl 30. My biggest issue was definitely the cashgrab DLC with the lack of endgame content and explorables. I bought the game for 45€, paying 25€ just for a small amount of content is unacceptable (Remember that with 25€ you can buy a full game! Fire emblem warriors, disgaea 5 just to name some examples).
I was a little disappointed in it too, it still felt like the 3ds games in some important areas. I was hoping for full camera movement game wide (not just the wild area) and the lack of voice acting ended up really annoying me by the end. It wasn't a bad game, it just wasn't for me.

Well I found this channel somehow and I’ve never played a rpg before. I always played sports games and action games. They just looked boring. Long story short I play a lot of rpgs bc of this channel. I guess my first one was xenoblade definitive edition. Pokémon sword... dragon quest 11. And now I’m on fire emblem three houses. I suck at rpgs. Maybe cuz I’m so new to them. But I love them. The story based part of it I love and I actually like turn based combat when I never thought I would. So thank you for this Chanel and being so passionate about rpgs. That’s what made me try them!
I give it a 6/10. The raids were the only really addicting part of the game honestly. I spent more time in raids than anything else in the game,it just felt like a nice escape from Hop,who was the most annoying rival ever lmao.

Better late than never! Having not played Pokemon since Heart Gold/ Soul Silver, but I thought that this game did alot of things well for newcomers and streamlined a few things for the hardcore players, but it's more like an 8/10. The next mainline Pokemon game is going to be amazing based on the foundations of Sword & Shield. Good review!

I've to respectfully disagree too. Storylines are important in pokemon games, the villains and backstories give these characters life. Also, how short the mainstoryline is (people spend alot of time getting caught up with the wild area at the start, but it's not worth it as you can't catch any high lvl mons), and the fact that they omitted many fan favorites mons, doesn't make this a value option. If the two DLCs were already in game from day one, perhaps its worth the price tag. Great video as usual. Just my two cents

Don't buy it! Not worth? 60 US dollars and it is supposed to be gen 8 not gen 1. We should be allowed to use all Pokemons. Not restrict it or kill them off.

you really know how to describe whether or not a game is worth the price, to someone who's always unsure if i'm spending the money on a game worth the price. i am putting together a list of games i should get with my future switch lite, and it's a lot of money to someone like me, so games will have to be bought 1 at a time, with a month or two in between purchases, so i want a first game that gives me enough enjoyable gameplay to get me through.
Game was too linear for me and too much dialogue. I felt like I spent more time talking about adventuring and how my "rival" is going to be the best rather than letting me play and just enjoy the game. Didnt even get to the first gym. Dynamax also felt underwhelming compared to mega evolving. Last good game for me was omega ruby. I really liked that one
I think the Let's Go games were good introduction to Pokemon for modern kids who perhaps have less patience or rather more distractions than we did in the 80s and 90s. My nephew has really enjoyed Let's go and when I showed him videos of the new games he immediately wanted to buy them, knowing they would be a step up from what he's playing now. For adults, sure the games were more simplified, but as much as we like to play Pokemon, it's essentially marketed at kids, i.e. They have a kids cartoon series dedicated to them.i
I dont understand the hate the game gets. I actually enjoyed the story and have enjoyed the past 40 or so hours of just capturing and breeding. Sun and Moon was my first game but never had a chance to play it much. Let's Go Pikachu was the first one I completed and glad it was technically my first game since I didnt mind it. Recently picked up X and Alpha Sapphire and have been sinking a lot of time into X between my time in Shield.
I also have to disagree, the game is over priced, heavy recycled animations and characters models. It not worth the asking price of $100 USD. Maybe when the full pokedex comes out I'll consider it but the price would have to be much lower, say $40.
If I were to play on a secondary system... which at the moment I don't have, I would play the sword version that I got with my combo pack. Glad I got that. It is nice that you go more into the customization than most reviewers I have seen, as they mainly stated you could do so rather than elaborate. Simple short and to the point, or is it on point... Either way you did well as that was something I was wondering about, since I got distracted by other games... Mainly Dragon Quest Builders series. I love games were you can collect in style. :)
What is your opinion on the length of the game, as well as the insane price if you include the DLC? A lot of us have shiny pokemon that are now useless, as they are not in this game. I do like your review though, and I might now reconsider my boycott if I can get the game for half price.

Same!!! I've just passed the second gym and I'm still waiting for a team rocket-esque group of villains to come out scheming. I don't know if team yell is some kind of substitute for bad guys or what but they totally just made the game super childish and cheery.
MS Team Yell doesn’t do much hey, they just “get in our way” I mean the story in Pokemon B&W was really amazing, so if we don’t get a remake of Pearl & Diamond next I hope the next gen games deliver something on that level, cause we know they can tell good stories

There is good hype and bad hype. When people aren’t satisfied with a product, they’ll either not buy it or cause controversy. Whether people were having trouble with the game ,we will never know, but I think it was just a ploy to destroy a game! We’ve seen this hate before amongst hardcore Star Wars fans! Now I know there are normal Pokémon fans ,who probably adore Sword and Shield,and it is a great game! Not everyone played all the handheld games,so I was very excited with the new gen game! People criticized “Let’s Go” games and “Sword and Shield” and claimed they were too easy! However “Sword and Shield” is difficult at times and it has more replay value! Let’s Go was just a nostalgic cash grab! After you’re done with the story, the game really doesn’t give you a reason to replay it ,and that’s the problem with Lets Go! Because ,you only have the ability to catch the pokemon ,instead of fight them, the game is done once you complete the story!
Another great review Ircha 👌 I agree with a lot of your points. When I reviewed it my biggest issue was with the changes that make gameplay easier, especially the shared xp! However it still is a wonderful homage to the originals and the most beautiful Pokemon to date! I've not played Let’s Go Pikachu / Eevee yet, I'm guessing from your comments I should avoid it 😅
Full disclaimer: I have played well over 200 hours of Pokemon Sword, and have yet to encounter a single shiny Pokemon. I'm starting to think they're a myth in Generation VIII.
I have Sword, but haven't played it yet. Not very excited about any of the starters or their final evolutions, aside from Scorbunny, but out of sheer principle I NEVER choose fire, heck I rarely ever have a fire type on my team. I am most likely going for water, because it's blue... I like blue...
I actually do have Let's go Eevee and it's just "meh" at best. Only wears that you could actually put on the settings to do a "battle all" mode. Hearing your take on it I might give it a chance but it's a maybe at best. My biggest complaint though is that they did a "Thanos snap" and at least half are gone. Like my Lieutenant Darkrai. Once again though I'm gonna give it a fair go
I'm finally getting a Switch later next month (just in time for Animal Crossing) and have been watching/reading a lot of game reviews in order to figure out what games to buy in the next couple of months. I love ircha don't get me wrong. But I do not agree with some things from this video. I LOVE the let's go series. And after playing shield. I'm more excited for another let's go. Let's go felt like they tried something new even as a remake. Sword and shield where very disappointing for me. Let's go felt like a switch game. Sword is a 3ds re skin.
Me and my younger brother love pokemon games and we are really craving for this game, especially this one. He has a switch lite and i dont, sadly, but i play a lot of xbox one s since my ps4 broke. These games were terrible by Pokémon standards, Ircha!! Extremely short gameplay, easy difficulty, no real post game, no exploration, lazy development of the cities and story progression, AND the biggest offender was the hallways they insulted our intelligence with by calling them a town! Gamefreak lied about these games and they have the nerve to charge for extra content that should’ve been in the games 👎👎 they’ll never get another red cent from me, NOR am I a fan at this present moment 😡

The game seems like an... okay Pokemon game. So if you really like Pokemon and don't care about Dexit you'll probably enjoy it. Unfortunately, I care about Dexit. The wild areas don't seem very impressive to me, though.

no cloud saving in any pokemon switch games i know of so im not buying any more. Not supporting nintendo when they make you pay just to use cloud saves and theydont even support it in all games

Today is the first time since I watch your videos that I don't agree with your score, I think that spoke the Pokémon fan inside of you, and is OK, I'll appreciate every comment and review, I even purchase games because you recommended, and I need to give you my own opinion: Pokémon graphics are really bad Conversations between characters are repetitive and absurd History are very simplistic Pokémon animations are really poor, gamefreak don't effort in the minimum way possible Music is repetitive Short pokedex The easiest Pokémon ever (in the main history) They cut a lot of important things DLC and a few things inside are too expensive I belive is the worst Pokémon ever I've been trying Pokémon shield and I give an opportunity because usually Pokémon games are games that the people buy for love, but those game are developed with love too, and usually Pokémon games are not perfect, but always trying to incorporate nice things for fans and new comers, but sword and shield are not even trying. BTW is just my opinion and I love your videos 😊

@@Liofa73 There is nothing in the game graphically that could not have been done on the 3DS. The textures are really bad in some instances, like the trees (which I believe they might have fixed, but is still a meme).
@@Liofa73 put side by side games like Zelda BotW, Atelier Ryza, Dragon Ball switch (no matter your choice), Xenoblade, Valkirya 4, Tales of Vesperia or Ys VIII Lacrimosa, all have visual like anime, are very cortoonish, and all of them are biggest games very big worlds and with a lot of things happening in the game, and all those games looks infinite better than Pokémon, and even some of this games are older, and ported for previous generations, and are smaller franchise and smoller studios than game freak and Pokémon company. Pokémon have horrendous textures, the characters and things on the distance popup a lot in weird ways, animation on Pokémon, characters and ambient are almost not exist, all the game is blurry, the controls fills worst than Tha Nintendo ds, don't feel like a live world, and is an ugly game.
Nice review. I agree and disagree on some things. I love the music. However,, lots of people enjoy stories in Pokemon. Sw/Sh's story was lacking. The graphics are good, but I've seen better. Overall the games are fun but flawed. I give them a 7/10.

Choco Loco James --- The combat is old school JRPG, they won't change it. If you want a more fluid game which is similar to Pokemon and has "real time" combat, try the two Ni No Kuni games. They are beautiful and fun.
The main campaign was yet another hand-holdy and forgettable story that we've already seen multiple times - Many Pokemon were cut, then sold later as DLC (or cut altogether) - Bare-bones routes that are extremely linear with no sense of exploration at all outside of the Wild Area - Mandatory EXP share which lead to easy over leveling and 0 challenge - Non-existent postgame content - Dynamax is an awful gimmick that will just be scrapped and replaced with the next gen gimmick like Megas and Z-Moves were - Uninspiring graphics that look more like an up-scaled 3DS game than a console game.
The game after both of the dlc that look like a scraped post game and to make it look like the full game you have to spend 120 dollars. 60 for the game and 30 for both dlc and even after spending 120 dollars the game is lame.
Great review. I'm definitely getting this game eventually but my money is tight right now. Spent too much during the holidays with all the sales lol One of my friends has over 200 hours in this game so far.
i think this is the blandest or weakest plot in a generation of pokemon game. Although if you really want some actual plot on pokemon you have to look to the side games like mystery dungeons or ranger games.

My nephew has really enjoyed Let's go and when I showed him videos of the new games he immediately wanted to buy them, knowing they would be a step up from what he's playing now. For adults, sure the games were more simplified, but as much as we like to play Pokemon, it's essentially marketed at kids, i.e. They have a kids cartoon series dedicated to them.i
I dont understand the hate the game gets. I actually enjoyed the story and have enjoyed the past 40 or so hours of just capturing and breeding. Sun and Moon was my first game but never had a chance to play it much. Let's Go Pikachu was the first one I completed and glad it was technically my first game since I didnt mind it.
Recently picked up X and Alpha Sapphire and have been sinking a lot of time into X between my time in Shield.

I also have to disagree, the game is over priced, heavy recycled animations and characters models. It not worth the asking price of $100 USD. Maybe when the full pokedex comes out I'll consider it but the price would have to be much lower, say $40.
Zeronic Matrix it's actually $160 for the privilege to experience the full game plus another $20 if you want to use the online features
If I were to play on a secondary system... which at the moment I don't have, I would play the sword version that I got with my combo pack. Glad I got that.
It is nice that you go more into the customization than most reviewers I have seen, as they mainly stated you could do so rather than elaborate. Simple short and to the point, or is it on point... Either way you did well as that was something I was wondering about, since I got distracted by other games... Mainly Dragon Quest Builders series. I love games were you can collect in style. :)

What is your opinion on the length of the game, as well as the insane price if you include the DLC? A lot of us have shiny pokemon that are now useless, as they are not in this game. I do like your review though, and I might now reconsider my boycott if I can get the game for half price.

Same!!! I've just passed the second gym and I'm still waiting for a team rocket-esque group of villains to come out scheming. I don't know if team yell is some kind of substitute for bad guys or what but they totally just made the game super childish and cheery.

There is good hype and bad hype. When people aren’t satisfied with a product, they’ll either not buy it or cause controversy. Whether people were having trouble with the game ,we will never know, but I think it was just a ploy to destroy a game! We’ve seen this hate before amongst hardcore Star Wars fans! Now I know there are normal Pokémon fans ,who probably adore Sword and Shield,and it is a great game! Not everyone played all the handheld games,so I was very excited with the new gen game! People criticized “Let’s Go” games and “Sword and Shield” and claimed they were too easy! However “Sword and Shield” is difficult at times and it has more replay value! Let’s Go was just a nostalgic cash grab! After you’re done with the story, the game really doesn’t give you a reason to replay it ,and that’s the problem with Lets Go!
Because ,you only have the ability to catch the pokemon ,instead of fight them, the game is done once you complete the story!

I have Sword, but haven't played it yet. Not very excited about any of the starters or their final evolutions, aside from Scorbunny, but out of sheer principle I NEVER choose fire, heck I rarely ever have a fire type on my team. I am most likely going for water, because it's blue... I like blue...

I actually do have Let's go Eevee and it's just "meh" at best. Only wears that you could actually put on the settings to do a "battle all" mode.
Hearing your take on it I might give it a chance but it's a maybe at best. My biggest complaint though is that they did a "Thanos snap" and at least half are gone. Like my Lieutenant Darkrai.
Once again though I'm gonna give it a fair go

I love ircha don't get me wrong. But I do not agree with some things from this video. I LOVE the let's go series. And after playing shield. I'm more excited for another let's go. Let's go felt like they tried something new even as a remake. Sword and shield where very disappointing for me. Let's go felt like a switch game. Sword is a 3ds re skin.
That pkmn was good overall but near the end i was burned out, i just wanted it to end. I enjoyed the beggining way more than the end 😅

i bought max oran berries early game and never bought any potions, and only healed with the berries. It was an easy run.
Me and my younger brother love pokemon games and we are really craving for this game, especially this one. He has a switch lite and i dont, sadly, but i play a lot of xbox one s since my ps4 broke. These games were terrible by Pokémon standards, Ircha!! Extremely short gameplay, easy difficulty, no real post game, no exploration, lazy development of the cities and story progression, AND the biggest offender was the hallways they insulted our intelligence with by calling them a town!
Gamefreak lied about these games and they have the nerve to charge for extra content that should’ve been in the games 👎👎 they’ll never get another red cent from me, NOR am I a fan at this present moment 😡

I actually already have this game... but as I always say I love your reviews! I have played through the game already the only thing I hate is there were no trench coats... I mean its freaking London!!! if a game would have a trench coat it would be THIS game right? hahaha... fashion aside, it was great AND I hope the next pokemon game focuses more on wild type areas. imagine a free-roaming pokemon game!

The game seems like an... okay Pokemon game. So if you really like Pokemon and don't care about Dexit you'll probably enjoy it. Unfortunately, I care about Dexit.
The wild areas don't seem very impressive to me, though.
Nice review ,disagree that the lets go games are terrible though it felt like a nice nostalgia trip to me with them games and the graphics are better In lets go games as well IMO

no cloud saving in any pokemon switch games i know of so im not buying any more. Not supporting nintendo when they make you pay just to use cloud saves and theydont even support it in all games

Today is the first time since I watch your videos that I don't agree with your score, I think that spoke the Pokémon fan inside of you, and is OK, I'll appreciate every comment and review, I even purchase games because you recommended, and I need to give you my own opinion:
Pokémon graphics are really bad
Conversations between characters are repetitive and absurd
History are very simplistic
Pokémon animations are really poor, gamefreak don't effort in the minimum way possible
Music is repetitive
Short pokedex
The easiest Pokémon ever (in the main history)
They cut a lot of important things
DLC and a few things inside are too expensive
I belive is the worst Pokémon ever
I've been trying Pokémon shield and I give an opportunity because usually Pokémon games are games that the people buy for love, but those game are developed with love too, and usually Pokémon games are not perfect, but always trying to incorporate nice things for fans and new comers, but sword and shield are not even trying.
BTW is just my opinion and I love your videos 😊

@@Liofa73 There is nothing in the game graphically that could not have been done on the 3DS. The textures are really bad in some instances, like the trees (which I believe they might have fixed, but is still a meme).
@@Liofa73 put side by side games like Zelda BotW, Atelier Ryza, Dragon Ball switch (no matter your choice), Xenoblade, Valkirya 4, Tales of Vesperia or Ys VIII Lacrimosa, all have visual like anime, are very cortoonish, and all of them are biggest games very big worlds and with a lot of things happening in the game, and all those games looks infinite better than Pokémon, and even some of this games are older, and ported for previous generations, and are smaller franchise and smoller studios than game freak and Pokémon company.
Pokémon have horrendous textures, the characters and things on the distance popup a lot in weird ways, animation on Pokémon, characters and ambient are almost not exist, all the game is blurry, the controls fills worst than Tha Nintendo ds, don't feel like a live world, and is an ugly game.

Nice review. I agree and disagree on some things. I love the music. However,, lots of people enjoy stories in Pokemon. Sw/Sh's story was lacking. The graphics are good, but I've seen better. Overall the games are fun but flawed. I give them a 7/10.

I'd like to get into a Pokemon game but the combat seems so outdated.
Some things are timeless.
Besides, it isn't worth messing with the core gameplay of an RPG series (Final Fantasy learned this the hard way, oof)
Choco Loco James --- The combat is old school JRPG, they won't change it. If you want a more fluid game which is similar to Pokemon and has "real time" combat, try the two Ni No Kuni games. They are beautiful and fun.
The main campaign was yet another hand-holdy and forgettable story that we've already seen multiple times
- Many Pokemon were cut, then sold later as DLC (or cut altogether)
- Bare-bones routes that are extremely linear with no sense of exploration at all outside of the Wild Area
- Mandatory EXP share which lead to easy over leveling and 0 challenge
- Non-existent postgame content
- Dynamax is an awful gimmick that will just be scrapped and replaced with the next gen gimmick like Megas and Z-Moves were
- Uninspiring graphics that look more like an up-scaled 3DS game than a console game.
Nothing beats Pokémon Silver. It was superior in many of these things you mention.
The game after both of the dlc that look like a scraped post game and to make it look like the full game you have to spend 120 dollars. 60 for the game and 30 for both dlc and even after spending 120 dollars the game is lame.

i think this is the blandest or weakest plot in a generation of pokemon game. Although if you really want some actual plot on pokemon you have to look to the side games like mystery dungeons or ranger games.
