WOW! new update 1.0.7 brings separate voltages for capacity and MINUS and PLUS with current and power, nice :)

Oh that's much better. Settings for battery 100% and 0% triggers separate from the overvoltage and undervoltage alarms. And a negative sign in the app for current when the battery is discharging. Thanks for the heads up :)

But cant decrease , alway increase when plus or minus , always counting up

I like tuya because you can use it in an ‘offline’ local network, without relying on a server elsewhere

I love digital meter displays like this one. I even like the little panel mount ones that you
can get all day long for a buck that measure DC volts and amps.
Great for small projects like robotics and machines that do stuff.
Like toroidal coil winders! Those are wild!
Thanks for a great many years of your videos, Julian!
I see you coming up on 200K!! Yaah!! 👍🍻🥂🎆🎉

I don't think those "100 Amp" copper terminals will last long at full rating. Meter looks good though.

Good review but it's a shame you didn't check its accuracy given that Atorch don't specify it all. It's all very showing the current to 1mA resolution, ie. 5-1/2 digits, (the App shows an additional digit than the LCD) if it's only accurate to 10% - but I expect it will be nearer 1%. The shunt itself is specified as 0.5%.
A more detailed, if brief, teardown would have been appreciated to show which components they use although they likely have eraesed the markings.
That shunt is going to get quite hot at 100A dissipating 7.5W so a bit of care to allow a free flow of cooling air would be advised when installing.

Thanks for a useful review. Can you please tell if there is a Windows/Linux software to properly shotdown the operating system upon receiving certain information from this battery monitor ? It seems that the vendor-bundled software is for smartphone only.

Just what I was looking for.. Is it compatible with HA?

It looks nice. It just needs some software tweeks.

Can you use that only for voltmeter and create scenes or automatizations when the voltage changes to specific values?

Did the chart function in the app not show you the direction of current? Positive and Negative? EDIT: Should've waited, you proved it did on the device itself - but in the app?

The listing looks and sounds nice, but the product is garbage until/unless they fix it. Thanks for the video.

The strange thing is, why did they release it, don't they know garbage when they see it, and just hope suckers buy it anyway.

Amazing what they can pack into it for a few quid but perhaps unsurprising that it's rubbish. I've got a victron shunt but I went to that expense because I wanted to reliably know the state of charge of my battery and not have anything go on fire or anything.

i just received the product after 5 days of ordering, i wonder if it is possible to use an external relay or is it mandatory to buy from that seller, and another thing that is quite disappointing is that the app does not show the status of discharging or charging, hope they will update soon

nice monitor for diy server rack packs i never reached more than 14 amps charge to my server rack 48v 100 amp battery . I
I want to series put it on my victron 35 amp solar charger which i never let go over 25 amps.... bad thing is i wont get correct measures because that energy might go to system and not the battery itself... i think it is nice for e moto packs....

  • @squalazzo

have you tried connecting it to home assistant to see what arrives there? It's not the 1st time HA gets full values, while tuya app only some

    • @keyboarderror1
      @keyboarderror1 6 місяців тому

I just got the AC version in the hopes the tuya integration would work. It does, but it only brings out Current, Power, and Voltage and lets you toggle the socket relay. It's still useful for logging so I'm OK with it.

I would think that there is a good reason for manufacturers of these modules to provide a developer interface that allows for the user to generate improvements and new functionality over the manufacturer provided capabilities. Clearly software is not their strong point.

Also, seems that only the volts, current and power are made public (linking it to homeseer) - which is useful as I can run an external relay to charge it if it goes below a certain voltage but I have to have a seperate relay, i can't use the one built in one as it is not controllable! (using a 25.6v LifePo4 battery to backup my aquarium) - so not solar!

Why does it matter that the bolt blocks the access to the voltage sense terminal screw? Just connect the sense wires before the current wires.

Hi Julian, nice video. Do you know if they fixed capacity counter in new firmware? I would like to use this device to measure real SOC of 100Ah lifepo4 battery. Is there a option to fully charge a battery and then set capacity to 100x12v and observe capacity counter decreasing when load in on and increase when charger is on? Thanks.

I wonder... top right of the graph screen.. when you unplugged the bulb, it went from 0.36A to 1.00A, and then to 3.03A when you were charging the battery... and the charge current was exactly 2.03A... is that some sort of buggy "current value" display. The voltage could be the top left... if you subtract 1V there also (which if I look earlier in the video, when you had nothing connected, it also showed 1.03V, 1.00A for those two values... suggesting maybe there is a 1V/1A error there? maybe?) 🤪er... WTH?

Any idea how the relay works? Was hoping to be able to use it to disable the output and switch over to a charger if the voltage goes below a certain threshold - all I can find online is that it turns off if the overvoltage is reached but when I attach it on the bench all it does is beeps over the voltage and relay does nothing. If I manually switch it on from the app it does switch off but never switches on again (even if I go below the low voltage) so not sure what the point of it is - has anyone else had more success?
