Yes. Took me two years to recognize my flow and how often emptying works for me. Everyone is shaped so differently with varying hormones so i dont feel so bad for almost never lasting a full 12hrs. I usually empty after every 4-6hrs

to any entrepreneurs watching this for the love of god do not make a smart disc that can send a notification when its full. do not do that.

There was a cup with an app on Kickstarter, but I saw comments on there that people never received the product, so it might be a bogus Kickstarter campaign.

There’s already a menstrual cup in development that pairs with an app to monitor that along with other things 😬

@@PeriodNirvana I saw the “Looncup” on Kickstarter. There are many comments under that saying that it’s been years and backers never received the product, so this must have not materialized. Maybe there’s another smart cup that is really coming out?

it's trial and error in the beginning. just like with pads or tampons, you will learn with each use.

Honestly, just to experiment, I used my disc and put on a pad I had sitting around just to see how long it could go before spilling over on my heaviest day. After 4.5 hours, it finally spilled over. It's the best way to find out how long you can go before you must find a bathroom

Honestly I can just feel it - like a weight. Odd to think that maybe others can’t??

Could you explain auto-dumping a little more? Does it happen to everyone? Should it be happening? When it happens do you need to do anything to readjust your disc or is it fine?

It doesn't happen to everyone, but it is very common. If it does happen, and you're not having any leaks/problems otherwise, it's totally fine. Some women don't like auto-dumping so they experiment with different sized discs until they find one that stays totally secure. Some women may feel like they need to "re-adjust" after auto-dumping, which is simply tucking it back under your pubic bone, you don't have to take it all the way out and re-insert. Most women say it usually pops back into place after using the bathroom, or they do a kegel to pop it back in after they stand up.
      Long comment, sorry 😅
There's no one-size-fits-all answer. It is normal though (if you're not having any other disc related issues). Disc size, muscle tone, cervix height, pubic bone prevelance, how hard you're bearing down and a few other things factor into if it will or won't happen.
Personally, I see it as a plus! Depending on where I am on my cycle, auto-dumping helps gauge how much longer I can go before emptying it entirely. It's helpful when you're out&about, don't have to worry about taking your disc out/rinsing/re-inserting in a public restroom.
I could go on and on lol. Hopefully this helped!

It happens to me but not every time I use the toilet. No readjustment needed. I can’t feel the disc move, it’s more like it gets squeezed just enough inside the body to leak a little out. If you bear down when it’s full you can empty it quite a bit. And I would recommend always wearing a pantyliner with it, I still do after 8 cycles with a disc. In my experience there will always be some blood residue down there by the middle of the day if not sooner.

I got the hello disc around a year ago and I LOVE it! I used cups for years but found they never totally worked with my anatomy and always leaked a little. I switched to the hello disc and it was a world of difference and I weirdly immediately trusted it. I went camping and took a couple pads as backup but that was it (didn’t take a cup in case the disc didn’t work for me) and the disc did not disappoint. I remember now squatting down among spiders to change it by torch light 😂 It autodumps occasionally which personally I have a love hate relationship with, I like that I know it’s got some more capacity now and I sometimes will encourage it to auto dump on heavy days. But I also have the cup mentality of thinking that if there’s blood when I wipe I have to rearrange it. Anyway, all this to say if you’re considering a disc I’d really say go for it, I don’t know why I waited so long and wasted my time struggling with cups.

I totally get that mentality it is hard to break even when you KNOW it's ok!

I’ve heard on cup review videos that you feel air bubbles when it is getting full.

    • @PeriodNirvana
      @PeriodNirvana  9 місяців тому +3

That’s true for cups but discs don’t create a vacuum suction so the bubble thing doesn’t happen

I thought that they could be emptied by bearing down (well that's what one of the discs instructions said. I'd like to know how you empty it when out in public. How does someone take it out, empty it & put it back in and not just have blood all over your fingers. Even using toilet paper to wipe your fingers on will leave noticeable blood around the base of the nail & under the fingernail. There are times I Have to Use something with bristles to get it out from underneath my fingernails & I don't have long nails (even if I want long nails I can't keep them from breaking, peeling or bending). I fell in a hole a few months ago & ripped my upper thy in 2 spots & while tending to my cuts I noticed my finger nail had also been ripped, right down the middle ( the right side was attached to skin but not the left side) that crap gives me the Willie's when seen in a movie. I put it under water for a long time not really looking at it then sum peroxide & a wrap till it healed to the point I could look at it). I just like to share that story whenever possible bc it creeps ppl out 😉☝️✌️🖐️😂

I couldn't find the loop. It did a full 360 and inverted itself. Like it never expanded properly but I made sure it did. Thank God I remembered to relax and push. Does yours release air or just mine?

Are disks reusable? I'm thinking of buying some but they are a bit expensive if they are one time use

I was wondering this too. Today was a really light day…I THOUGHT. Until I got to the toilet and haphazardly pulled it all the way out. 🩸🩸😂 It was a crime scene. I will now treat every time as if the disc is full.
