    They are such mesmerising little creatures. I'm quite fascinated by them. The poor male goes through all that 'song and dance' to impress and the female just sits there staring at him. :D

    There is so much beauty in this world. If we take the time to look at tiny things, there is a whole other world to explore.
    I take macro shots of tiny desert flowers. They are amazingly beautiful.

    Spiders used to scare the holy peepee out of me (even though I couldn't bear to kill them, since my fear wasn't their fault). After a couple of decades of phobia and the realization that the damn things are everywhere, I decided to watch and learn as much as I could about them. While my heart still speeds up when I see a big'un, I find them beautiful and fascinating and worthy of respect. This is the 1st time I've ever heard of Peacock spiders. The boys especially are just adorable. It's kind of sad that the lady Peacock sometimes eats them after such a pretty dance. Thanks for making and sharing these videos.

    I am an avid spider lover, as a result of which my two year old daughter is very intrigued by them (although with some trepidation, which makes me think that the human fear of spiders is possibly instilled in our brains somewhere and needs to be actively overcome). Nevertheless, she and I have been watching and loving your videos together. She even asks for "more spider" when each video ends. Just before writing this comment she had a typical "terrible twos" fit, and only stopped when I put on some of your videos. She was entranced enough so that my wife could feed her.

    • @Peacockspiderman
      @Peacockspiderman  10 років тому +3

      Emile Myburgh Thanks a lot for telling me about this. It is nice to know that my videos have that effect. In regards to whether fear of spider is instilled in our brains, I am not sure. I used to be frightened of spiders myself when I was little and overcame my fear by keeping some in a jar. Personally I think that initially we are not fearful of them at all until our parents start to interfere and tell us "don't touch that". I am intrigued by your profile pc, obviously in an aircraft. I had a fear of flying which I overcame by doing a pilot licence, and then became obsessed with flying, like with spiders.

    No, I shot most of my recent videos, including this one, with the 60D. I find the flip-out screen very useful and consider image or video quality to be similar. Lens is the 100 mm IS

    You are not alone, the vast majority of Australians have never heard of these spiders, partially because they have never featured in any David Attenborough documentary. But give it some time, its only seven years that I publicise them. I think once they have become famous overseas, which they will, also Australians will know about them

    I'm not the biggest fan of spiders. I'm not afraid though either. I love jumping spiders; I think they are adorable. Only within this last year I heard about the Peacock Spiders. They are lovely, such variety of vivid colors and dances.
