I've had an Echo Studio for a year and just recently bought another March 2021 and set up to a Fire 3rd Generation Stick, set up as a Home Cinema System and boy it's so powerful and Dolby Atmos from only the two Echos is great.I've had a Philips 5.1 Home Cinema System for years and it being 600Watts Rms.The main difference between my Philips 5.1 Home Cinema is that obviously having the rear speakers plus the subwoofer but even then my 2 Echo Studios compare to my 5.1 Philips Home Cinema System favourably.Okay you don't get the rear affects but the power from my 2 Echo Studios is great. Brilliant set up if you ask me.
Thanks for this series. After 22 years, I retired my Bose Lifestyle 12 home theater system today to go this route with one exception. I am using the Fire 4K Stick in this location. It was easy to setup and the sound is amazing. Now, if only I can find a buyer for the Bose system.
On Christmas, I will hook up two new Echo Studios to the living room with a Fire Cube, so I am sold!
How did it work out?
@@ramdbzdude0_0 there are some quirks that I have been working out, and seem to have gotten worked out. I just added a subwoofer to my second set of studios. I like how clean the setup is noting the numerous wires from my Bose system are gone. You really have to just learn the behavior of the system so when it does present a glitch you don't waste a lot of time getting it back online.
I think you may be disappointed with the lack of volume. I have 2 Echo Studios paired with eachother AND an Echo Sub. Talk about underwhelming. I have allowed spatial sound (big improvement there) and by maximising all three controls in the equaliser I managed to get a volume which is no more than okay, just. But this means I have to listen to everything at Volume 10.
VERY UNIMPRESSED. Why is everyone saying how good the sound is, are they being paid to by Amazon? ...or am I missing something? ...and I have very good hearing to boot!!!
Thanks for this! I wish all app instructions were as clear as yours. That was great. I returned a setup with 3 AudioPro A10s (one for the back of the room) and a sub. The sound with music was great but the functionality with the tv was so poor. In an effort to make the living room setup more family accessible, I went for a Sonos beam and 2 Ikea Symfonisks in the rear and am really happy overall. My wife was playing music on Tidal from day one and my 11 year old son said the music sounds much more alive in surround. To be honest, I could use a bit more punch up front but I am ok with that compromise. How would you compare this setup to the beam?
Cool solution. Doubt it sounds as good as true surround sound (with actual rear speakers), but it’ll do in a pinch for sure.
I plunged in by preordering a pair and have had them since release day. Never having previously dealt with smart speakers and the Alexa app, I found the initial set up confusing. This video will make it easier for new purchasers. The sound is full and detailed whether playing Amazon Music HD or ultra HD tracks, or watching content via a 4k Firestick. Now if only I could stop the video performance of the Firestick looking so horrendously smeary I'd be very happy! I have it hooked up to my Philip's 65" Ambilight 4k TV. Any help with that issue would be greatly appreciated!
Very well structured video. Clear guidance.
I'm all set since I already own a cube. But I'm sure a lot of people can't afford to buy two echo studios at once. But it's a lovely thought.
The echo studio have a built in Alexa too, so when you say Alexa do the speaker respond or the fire tv cube? Also if you setup this way can you still watch regular tv channel and still gets audio coming from the speaker or only the cube?
Any solutions yet for it to work with the firestick and NAS as a pair?
So i have tested with one Studio and have got it working via both Alexa App and optical to the TV. I set up the Audio System in the App first then i added the Optical lead from the TV to the Studio and i have sound on all devices but when i am on the Fire TV i have Atmos on this so it seams to work don't know if there was an update to fix this as there was on last night.
Question, can you use this "speaker set up" for just watching cable tv without the Fire devices? In other words can this set up be used as you default audio configuration?
The 4K max fire stick supports HDMI ARC will this act as a workaround to the optical cable?
Could you set that up as actual surround with 5 speakers ? Separate the center and rears ?
Wonderful sounds
Ive been looking for someone who has tried the Studios in a stereo pair for a while - I think you are the first on UA-cam!.
Actually, I have a studio, and purchased a second one for just this scenario, but had a massive change of heart before unboxing the second studio and sent it back for a refund. I still have one, just not two.
The reason I bailed was that I already have a great sound bar (Sonos Beam) and the echo studio setup was only going to help me out with Atmos material. There isn't a great deal of it and I find that with any speaker that relies on "bouncing off walls / ceilings" often doesnt work anywhere near as you'd hope.
So, Id be interested if you can do some further testing specifically with Atmos source movies and TV and let us know if the Atmos effect from the pair of Studios truly works well. Remember Atmos is supposed to be a whole 360 degree experience with sound coming from any spacial area... and I just dont trust speakers to truly be able to create sounds that come from above, and behind.
Sure, one Studio sounds great, two must sound phenomenal (I have a stereo pair of gen 3 echos and as a pair they sound amazing compared to solo). But... is it a great Atmos solution?
@Jm Tech agreed. ive tried a few sound bar based atmos solutions in the past, and come to the conclusion that any 'upward firing' speakers etc etc just doesnt cut it. You need actual speakers in the ceiling for the correct effect. In the same way that I truly believe the ONLY way to get realistic surround sound is to have speakers physically located behind you.
About the satellite service or connection to other devices the hdmi in on fire cube gen 3 can be useful. Give it a try.
finally there is a setup with two of them and testing dolby atmos
Thank you for this great video, setup, and review. I totally agree, I am also trying to do exactly what you were hoping to do: use 2 Studios and the line-in feature to have stereo sound. I am able to get great stereo sound with the studios using Bluetooth and paired them. But I'm not able to get the stereo sound with the line in option, even if I use a splitter and each input on each studio. It plays, but not stereo sound. Its not ideal and not what I intended, but I've yet to find a way to do a work around for this type of setup. That being said, when I play with them paired and streaming, then it works as intended. I just wish could also do this with the line-in.
Hi, this is what I am also hoping to do, at the moment I am put off buying it. Have you found a solution yet? please let me know :) thank you
Can i pair 2 Echo studios without the Firetv? I mean connecting each speaker direct to the RCA cable and straight to the TV.
Would the Amazon Alexa app still be able to find and pair up both speakers?
Do the 2 Echos and a fire tv cube work with the UA-cam app or is it just one speaker which works?
Fantastic, very innovative indeed. Were you able to set up the Nebula bar in this set up or only the studios.
Echo studio - I’ve found the toslink to be a pain in the arse as a optical hookup ! in the setup you tried with two echo studios.. which might I point out that you can do the same with two normal Alexa speakers plus a Alexa subwoofer... and all connections via wiFi wireless to a fire stick or fire tv cube .. good luck
I just wanna say, I love your Chanel !!!! Because of you, I decided to buy my first Echo Studio and it sounded incredible! Then, you decided to try a pair and I followed your idea. Oh MY GOD does it sound AMAZING!!! The experience is outstanding coming from Amazon Smart speakers. I saw your new video adding the sub (great addition btw) .... imagine if You were able to add 2 more Echo studios and put them in the back of your living room set up, what kind of experience will that be??? Can we set up 2 different kinds of Home Theater systems (only using Studios) 4 total? My oh my the sound will be... out of this world
One alone is a virtual surround system when you use two you lose the bounce of the wall and behind you effect to be honest one is better alone on a shelf above the tv .... a proven fact and built into the speaker, in order to use this system you request you would need to turn off speakers inside the units to allow the rears to do there job.... in other words buy a full made for the job set, for what these Echo`s do Epic but don`t try bypass the design or a lot of money will be wasted!!
Is it possible to connect a soundbar + Echo studio for more sound? Like a HT system.
how does this compare to that of the HomePod setup up as a home theatre pair? I have ended up returning my HomePods as I didn't feel there were very loud or bass while watching a movie? do these go louder?
I was hoping you added the Echo Sub but this guide is good enough for what I want to actually do
Rouel Jones here you go ua-cam.com/video/rb8EtRwyXP4/v-deo.html
Can the tv speakers be used in conjunction with the Alexa set up and fire tv?
Can i use the pair with a regular tv or laptop
How is the Dolby almost on the dual speaker setup? Does the audio really come at you from all angles?
Greate job. Do you still use and think it worth after 2 years? Tks!
If two are paired on the FireTV 4K Stick, does Spotify work on both speakers via Fire TV? Would other music from the iPhone also work on both speakers via an AirPlay app on FireTV?
Thanks 😊
Will Sky Dolby Atmos not work through HDMI into one of the new Fire Cubes?
How do these compare to a soundbar like the Sony zf9?
Thank you for the tutorial.
You are welcome!
Hello, do this work with the fire stick 4k Max?
How to connect both speakers to just smart tv and not the fire tv?
I have 1 Echo Studio and using it for music.
If i pair it with my 4K Fire Tv Stick the Sound is asynchronous.
Any Suggestions?
What's the link to the audio test you used? Is it a local file?
Could try and use a HDMI to micro usb to see if it will transfer audio via the usb on the back. HDMI arc from the tv to the micro usb on studio
Amazon fire stick/cube can you show UA-cam and other applications
can you find a DLNA APP on the Amazon fire stick/BOX then maybe you could cast to that device from your sky system?
What about the video and sound delays (latency) issues? I do not have a fire tv. I have a Samsung Curve Smart TV. Please advise.
Thankyou for the awsome video. Pls pair them with a echo subwoofer and post one video!
here you go my friend ***NEW TWO STUDIOS & SUBWOOFER REVIEW VIDEO***ua-cam.com/video/rb8EtRwyXP4/v-deo.html
How do you set up the 2 echo studios so that when your not using the fire cube or fire stick, the audio from the TV itself comes through both the studios?
Purchase the Fire Stick 4k MAX this is the only device that does arc return from all inputs
Do you know if the Echo Studio works with Nvidia shield TV?
I am reading in internet about Amazon Echo Studio since 2 weeks, and I could not find any information about using them front and rear, to avoid buying a 5.1 home cinevam system.
Is there any way to make a test about it? Thanks a lot
I bet it sounds amazing. Surely if you don’t have the FireTV you can just connect both speakers for stereo sound right (Spotify, Amazon, Pandora etc)?
You can stereo pair for music but only fire TV for TV not cable or just the TV
excellent video
Can you connect the Xbox or PS to the home cinema?
Which audio stream are you playing ?
It doesn’t work with other android boxes, correct?
For example Nokia 8010 or orbsmart r81? (Both fully Atmos capable)
Once they go on sale I think I will get one or two. I know they are still new but worth waiting for i think. hopefully by then some new functionality will be added to help the input issues.
maybe if something like the alexa input allowed to be a transmitter then you could just plug it into your TV aux/opitcal output.
Would be nice if you could put one studio in the front for the front channels and one in the rear for the rear channels. Wouldn't that make more sense?
Use the arc capabilities of HDMI.
You can run a pass though audio through the tv inputs.
For example I can’t use my gaming pc with any Alexa apps. So I run a hdmi to my tv with then runs my pc audio though the home theater
Can this be hooked up to an apple 4k tv????
How do these compare to a soundbar?
Can you add it to existing speaker system
How do you play that Dolby Atmos demo on demand like that?
So what do I do when I don't have a Amazon Cube or 4k stick? Cause thinking of upgrading the TV to a smart TV which would have all apps built in, I wouldn't need a stick.
Can you add a subuffer with the studios, a will be worth
Is it possible to not have them in Stereo? To have the full sound on every Studio. I want to have one next to the TV and one behind my couch.
I have 2 Echo Studios and it only sounds like that when you have your sound at the very high end of volume rather than at a low end for regular TV watching.
Two questions?
1) can I use an echo studio studio as a sound bar with a 3.5 toslink cable?
2) if so do I lose the use of Alexa data on that echo studio?
Hey, will this work if I just have a 4K fire stick as well as 2 echo 3rd gen, I want to use both as a stereo?
Yes providing it's the 4K fire stick.
Wat about two echos with a aux cord splitter to the sound bar
Wonder if it is possible to use a y audio adaptor so you can run 3.5 to both speakers? Right/left
pretty much what I was thinking. I have this ( smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DLLP978/ ) handy which i will try when i get my dual studios (backordered currently so wont get them until next week)
I'm really happy with this set up ,sound fantastic as home theater system. On point with music too 🤘
Rock on!
Can I connect 2 echo studios with my Roku stick?
I think you'd connect speakers to Bluetooth through the TV ie: audio output. And plug the sky into the TV Hdmi. This is how the amazon TV can connect to an alexa sound bar. However the problem arises with time delay and syncing to peoples mouths. It's a fiddling process which requires trial and error and back and forth through two different screens.
Can we get a link to that test video? I would like to try it.

@@irishrover7uk lol UA-cam doesn't have Atmos audio. Search and download form here instead thedigitaltheater.com/dolby-trailers/
Hi everyone. Mine works all the way as the video but no sound comes out my TV or my 2 x echo 4th Generation. Any ideas? Thanks
as well as >> home theatre > stereo pair
Wonder if you could use an optical splitter. It would be mono, but you would at least be using both speaker. S
Ok so it's good to know that I HAVE to get a Fire TV Stick or a FIRE TV Cube. I bought 2 Echo Studios recently and I've been having the most annoying time trying to connect them directly to my Samsung Smart TV. The Studios show up as "paired" under settings > sound > Bluetooth devices and there's an option to connect and I'll even get a notification that they connected, but the status doesn't show up as connected, they still show up as paired even with the notification. I've worked with that for a few hours last night. What's crazy is that I did manage to connect one of the Studios to the tv a couple of days ago, I guess that was a glitch or something?
Can you use two echo dots as left and right speakers behind you and your tv as an audio source as well?
No
I know this a old review but for anyone interested in setting two studio and subwoofer up with a tv/projector. Pair them with the fire stick 4k MAX as this allows arc return from all inputs back through the fire stick to the speakers no more home theatre only with the Amazon tv, now it works with everything wirelessly
Currently as of typing it must be the fire stick 4k MAX only that does this
Plug the fire stick 4k MAX into hdmi ARC port on tv/projector
Setup home theatre
Now play what you want anything on the fire stick, sky/TV box, smart tv apps, gaming consoles or PC’s
This setup is not isolated to two studio speakers and subwoofer, you can do this with just one studio and the fire stick 4k MAX
1x studio, good sound not bad for a smart speaker
2x studio’s, decent audio in a stereo pair left and right channel audio better bass
2x studio’s and subwoofer will surprise you with the stereo pair audio and great bass, shows this setup off the way it should be
The other advantages is that the studio(s) can be used as standalone streaming speakers without the need for the tv to be turned on, get the most out of the audio by keeping the sides and front of the speakers clear from obstruction like walls and raise them to ear hight
thank you so much for the info,
I have another question, hope you can help me out,
do you know if I set it up like said, would I still be able to have them in another group so they can play music along all my other speakers? or once its set up like that I won't be able to have them in another group?
thank you for your time
@@aaronsilva92 hello, I can’t tell you for definite as I don’t have multi room speakers setup myself but what I can tell you is when I go into the Alexa app and select “combine speaker” setup then select “multi speaker” option then I can select all my echo speakers and I can select home theatre as well
Which would suggest that you can do the audio streaming as per your requirements
Does this work with two studios, echo sub and lets say a bose 300/700/900 sound bar? TY.
@@usergvhhyu1223 the studios and echo sub yes the sound bar most likely won’t because the fire stick will control where the audio is being sent too
but to be honest you won’t need another Soundbar/speaker in the setup plus audio lag/sync would not be nice to hear
@@anonymoususer7985 Thank you for the quick response.
Darn, the studio, fire cube combo is $630, more than a good pair of powered speakers like the Klipsch or the YU which has multiple connections. I might just stick with my echo dots, roku 4k, and get a pair of really good powered speakers that hook to my tv, phone, Bluetooth, etc for only $300. I really wish I could afford the studio set up..
Can you connect the studio to echo sub
Are you the voice of Kurzgesagt?
Could you set the echo studio pair to be the preferred speakers for the cube?
Yes you can
I have been experience a drop in sound and sometime the 2 studios will go out of sync with each other... all I had to do is reset them and problem was fix. Have you experienced this ? If so, resetting them was the right thing to do?? Let me know
Thanks for posting this! I've been waiting for someone to do this for a while now. What I'm really hoping for is that because each echo studio has 5 drivers, is that each studio can perform both front and rear surround sounds. i.e. left studio can recreate both left front and left rear and right studio can recreate right front and right rear surround sounds. Would you be able to test if this is possible? Thanks!
NO. It may be able to downmix to 2.1/binaural but binaural is significantly less exciting than running Dolby Atmos through a Dolby Atmos setup. I recommend a minimum of a 5.1.4 system. Soundbars that can bounce audio off of the ceiling and roughly where it needs to be, although still not nearly as good as having height speakers, is much much much much better than playing Atmos in a binaural downmix. The binaural downmix was created to enhance headphones to sound better than typical stereo but does not come remotely close to actually having Atmos. The $480 a cube and 2 Echo Studios will cost you is more than the price of a Vizio soundbar-based 7.1.4 Atmos bundle.
Once you have set the Echo Studio up as Home Theatre with Fire 4k TV stick, is there an easy way to play the Demo piece you played in your video? Cheers
Dolby Atmos Horizon video on UA-cam
Bluetooth 5.0 transmitter supports two headphones vand speakers
Got a 4k fire stick . Bought 2 echo studios 20 hours still no joy . Going back .
Unfortunately you can only use one of them at the time if you don’t have a FireTV I would love to buy a second one and use them with my Nvidia Shield but it simply isn’t possible.
How about adding an echo sub into the mix? I have one studio & sub and when watching movies the floor is shaking with the sub
how did you add the sub to your tv? I thought you can only use it with an echo device.
2cool0 I added it to my echo studio which is in a home theatre group with my 4k firestick
@@kennymurphy4493 ohhhhh ok so it's connected to your fire stick and not the tv. So if I wanted to watch say a bluray or something it won't work with that right?
***NEW TWO STUDIOS & SUBWOOFER REVIEW VIDEO***ua-cam.com/video/rb8EtRwyXP4/v-deo.html
Are they compatible with Apple TV
can similar setup be done with Google home??
I have a Amazon 4 series tv that I'm trying to connect with echo studio. I will connect it to my home wifi and then set them up as a home theater. After I do this the studio connects to an Amazon wifi. When this happens I can't adjust bass, treble, or mid range. I've spoken with 8 different associates and been offered a new device. I connected my other studio in the same fashion and was faced with the same problem. Does anyone have any advice?
Are you still able to use a sound bar with this set up?
No he said so in the video
There’s a DOLBY Bluetooth transmitter, could both Echo studio pair with that.
Link?
You can’t possibly get Dolby formats via Bluetooth. That is misguiding
You can link the echo studio with the firetv 4k Max with Bluetooth. If you use another divise you Will need a arcana and wire everithing
My speaker keeps switching to another wifi on its own it’s annoying so I always have some speaker off
Maybe a digital optical splitter may work
Can we run two of these through optical to a blu ray player somehow ?
No at the moment there locked to Amazon Prime use
i’m hoping that the echo studio is discounted over Christmas as I want to try this out with my new Samsung 50 inch TV. Is the sound better than the Google home Max? The down side to my google home Max is that it keeps dropping connection time to time and I have to go through the Bluetooth pairing process again!
Not a chance fella, it's only just getting sent out to those that ordered it months ago.
You've got yourself a nice TV so don't cheap out now get yourself an AV receiver all your audio issues will be over plus the beauty of a receiver is that you can add to it over time for example get yourself a pair of stereo speakers then you can go on and move up to a 5.1 with a nice big bass and then you can get yourself a pair of height speakers or ceiling speakers to get the full Dolby Atmos effect and not the virtual Dolby Atmos like it's been displayed before it's now!
I don’t know why but for my 2 echo dots I’m only getting audio from my left speaker and not from both. What I am doing wrong?
I’m also trying to connect it to the firestick
I think the firestick is limited. For my set up i have a fire cube and I'm hoping it's better. I'll let you know
Interesting review, thanks. The inability to pass any other audio through the whole sound system is a complete fail in my opinion. I hope amazon can sort that out with an update, for their sake, otherwise Sonos still have a massive advantage. BTW, what’s the demo vid you’re playing onscreen? Keep up the good work!
Yes, you shouldn't need a fire tv device to get atmos from Netflix or movies. Of course you really should get a proper 5.1.2 or 7.1.2 surround for a great experience.
I have that demo on my 7.1.2 system. You can download them at the thedigitaltheater site.
@@RuiSilvaPT Many thanks.
Update for pass trough is now available
@@Luxx0711 Where would I find a tutorial for a work around? Thank you.
Been looking into doing this as soon as it was mentioned and I asked doldy on Twitter to confirm it.
One thing I wish tho is the fire cubes speaker was used as the center speaker that would be perfect
And the dot as the rear surrounds yeah
Can two of this speaker be hooked up to a pc for audio?
No sadly not unless you use a splitter but then you'll lose the stereo effect
