He actually improvised that himself into the song. That's why Whoopi turned around with that face, and the crowd reaction was genuine since they weren't expecting it.
Me too. But there is one plot hole that never got addressed. The lead girl was told by her mother to focus on her schoolwork. But this choir was, if I am not mistaken, schoolwork. Therefore, by prohibiting her daughter from participating, isn't she preventing her daughter from completing her assigned schoolwork as she was instructed by mama to focus on? Seems to me that she wasn't trying to chase her "coulda, shoulda, wouldas" as mama called it, she was trying to do her class assignment as mama told her to do. And if a kid joins the choir at church, are they chasing dreams, or are they worshipping God in a little bit of an extra way? And how many people set that choir work aside as soon as they are done with school and join the work force? Virtually all of them. This is really my only complaint about the film is that Sheryl Lee Ralph is playing a character that doesn't ring true in her position. Other than that, the film is a wonderful place to visit for a little while.
@@heinleinreader Not to belittle your concern. But the mother would not see that class as school work. She saw it as an impediment to her daughters learning. My concern would have been. Why mom didn’t insist that her daughter drop the class.

here i was expecting the high note to be repeated in the reunion but i had to come back to this video and compare, brought back some memories for sure :D
To add... the producers kept it a secret from her about that young man. To keep that part genuine, they had him do it and it was never rehearsed. Her turnaround was very genuine as was the look on her face. :)
I love how everyone’s reaction to his whistle note was authentic. When he does it, look at the choir when they show whoopi, their face says it all.😮💨🙏🏾🙏🏾
What's amazing to me about this video is how very talented people can fake like they can't sing and with a little coaching belt out an awe inspiring performance.
That may be the hardest thing for a really good singer to do, is to sing poorly. For a group of them to do so, such as a choir, is damn near impossible. This took incredible coaching and much more practice than coaching them for singing it well as a group would.

I love ❤️ the 2 Sister Act movies. 🎬 I think the young adults look like like they are having while singing. The movie shows they have a hard life. This could be life's teaching us hard times are all around us but we raise our hearts and voices in song 🎵.
The Sister Act movies has always been one of my favorite movies, and this scene from Act2 is the best not just because this song was so excellently performed but because it carries the powerful evangelical message of God’s saving grace and vocalizes my personal testimony along with so many others that there is only one true “Happy Day” …but there’s another happy day on its way.
