Female Airline Pilot here🙋🏼♀️ thankful for the strong women ahead of me who paved the way! Never thought I would be a pilot, but here I am! I love every second of it!
Such a powerful story in a short amount of time! Well done Scandinavian Airlines! I've been in aviation for 35 years (A Chick in the Cockpit) so I appreciate Turi Wideroe, Bonnie Tiburzi and all the other women's shoulders that I got to stand on...
As a female born in 1950 I can so relate to this. When I was growing up, there were jobs for men and jobs for women. We girls in high school were pushed into home economics classes and weren't allowed to take drafting. I was bought "girls toys" for Christmas while my brothers got expensive electronics. When I told my mother that I wanted to go to college, her answer was: "Honey, we never thought you'd go to college. We thought the boys would go to college. We thought you'd get married and have kids." Many women who did break glass ceilings had to basically be top of the class in male dominated fields. The bar was held so much higher for women. Anyway, thanks for the powerful reminder of the women who helped the rest of us break glass ceilings. (PS. I did go to college. And I started my own company. 😊 )
I got this shown as an advertisement while watching UA-cam videos - and it’s the first time that I watched an entire lengthy movie in an advertisement break voluntarily without skipping.
Gorgeously made, add the girl's childhood dream come true makes it even better. I was truly fortunate to have had Barbara Tressler as my flight instructor. A tribute to all girls out there looking up.
60 years ago I talked with the crew of many SAS flights as they crossed the Canadian Arctic on their Polar Flights. They would first contact us on ICAO HF frequencies for 4 or 5 hours, then as they got closer we would work them on VHF for a short period. They would pass position reports and weather conditions at their altitude. They would first give a position report, then 30 minutes later an Operations Normal. Travelling over the very remote Arctic they wanted to keep in contact at all times. It was a pleasure working with these Flight Crew members in the early days. I believe the first Polar flights began in 1957.
Jag har flugit med SAS Airlines i många år. Underbar film om hennes förflutna till nutid för att hedra hennes start för andra kvinnor att följa senare på SAS Airlines. Det här är fantastiskt att se och veta. Tack SAS Airlines.
WoW...!!...this could very well be the best airline commercial ever...!! Back in 2012 I was on a Lufthansa Airbus 380 flight captained by a female pilot. That was a very powerful experience indeed. I've never felt safer!!
Beautifully done capturing the passion, hurtles, and freedom of flight. I look up to these pioneering women anytime the going gets tough - they made it possible for us to even fathom our dreams. ❤ ✈️
BRILLIANTLY created SAS BRAVO❤THANKYOU for doing this. For ALL of us young & older who want to BREAK THE GLASS CEILING to Achieve Flight✨🌟 Thankyou SAS, DANKA❤🫶 I SLEEP with this in Loop🎉❤✨️ 73s 9V1KM Singapore Kevin Basil MAGNUS
Loved it! Way better than Volvo’s longer ad feature about a mother driving to her son after she got the news that his girl friend was pregnant. She was deiving in a city without trafic and had to emergency stop to avoid crashing in… her pregnant daughter in law. This here has complexity, is short but yet so refined in its story telling and expanding on a desire we all have in one way or another. Sfx are a bit too obvious in the plane shots, but apart from that I’m impressed! I was a bit surprised that it was a German (?) production and not a scandinavian. Maybe it would have felt a bit more artificial if it wasn’t. Germans have a better feel for nostalgic filming and it shows. I’m a man, and men can have hard times even in a male dominated environment. I am impressed by Widerøe’s achievements having crossed additional boundaries. The societal environment she grew up in shall be praised all the same however. She wouldn’t have achieved her goals in many other places in the world.
I couldn't complete my solo flight, unfortunatelly. This is the biggest regret I have in my life. To all those that are under formation, just go for it. Good luck!
Shouldn't a brand story be a story of success rather than abject failure? Aren't the responses in the comments an illustration of just how much SAS has failed women? And the fact that only 5% of airline pilots are women the quantitative proof? If this had been made about the hospital that hired the first female doctor, that would be great storytelling. But SAS? With only 3.8% of its pilots being women (well below the global average)? Nope.
aah love it, caravelle indeed an underrated plane ever built... but i do hope sas would expose their dc-9-20 series more, since they're the sole operator and requested this type exclusively to douglas at that time... anyway, love the attitude of female pilot as she goes like "this is what i'm trained for" and this reminds me a lot with wicked "defying gravity" theme, because when he said "you're flying solo" here 5:56, this goes to "at least i'm flying free" 😁
Well made and inspiring. Scared the heck out of me as a pilot to see the actress wrestling with the controls and repeatedly shown looking out the window in IFR conditions. There’s nothing to see in bad weather. You totally rely on your instruments. You scan them constantly, never looking out. I knew she was going to find herself in an unusual attitude the next time she checked the instruments, but she never did.

The Caravelle was the first Jet I flew on. My father used to fly a lot on the SAS Caravelle. Beautiful plane.

Nicolás Bori is an amazing filmmaker - Great one !
This is brand storytelling at it´s finest.

i wish it was 1 hour an 45 minuts longer.

Fantastic!
Nice history video! 👍
I wanna be a pilot when i grow up :)
that's awesome
Pilots of SAS 751 were heroes ❤️
Impactful video
Brilliant!!!!!
WOW FILM!!!
Loved it. Did I see Max Von Sydow in it?
What is that beeping in the cockpit at 07:08 supposed to signify?
It usually means the autopilot has been disconnected. However, I am not sure how they've used it in this case.
It doesn’t means anything in this context, but it’s the Airbus autopilot disconnect sound.

Good movie. She learned on a german registered taildragger ;-)
*Denzel taught her well...*
Beautiful
🥺🥺
When does the Netflix series come out?
If Widerøe sounds familiar, yes it's also an airline. Founded by her father no less, who despite this opposed his daughters ambitions to fly.
