Awesome review! Nailed a lot of our design points and gave some great feedback. One quick note on the locking bolt: we'll post a video that demonstrates how to drill a hole and use it on any shaft. So you don't need to have a Metal 2 to use it, but they do work perfectly together
The problem with the Mark 1 & Mark 2V throat breaking is not from poor design. The throat breaks because Stringking has, unfortunately, been exceptionally dumb by making plastic injection sites in the throat with their mold. What this does is leave plastic "flash" points that result in inconsistencies in the injection site. I confronted stringking about this fact and a designer of the head acknowledged the mold flaw when I spoke to him. They told me if it breaks in the throat they will replace it. It truly is a shame, because the head is amazing. They need to stop building molds with throat injection points and it will be a perfect head. Most companies make their lower injection site on the head right next to where the ballstop would be. A typical lacrosse head has aprox 4-6 injection sites in a mold, there is no excuse to keep putting one right on a throat strut.
You make some good points, but although the injection sites are part of the cause of the throat breaks, the Mark 1 certainly had some throat design flaws as well that I felt led to the variety of breaks I experienced (we had about 6 separate break locations in the throat reported). Although I haven't looked at the injection sites on the Mark 2v, I did feel like the overall construction of the throat was more solid, and I haven't heard of any breaks yet? I'd love it if you could send me any breaks you've seen...I'm not necessarily defending the 2v if it is also deficient in the throat, but I want to make sure the flaws of the 1 aren't extrapolated to the 2v unnecessarily.
Hey Chris - quick corrections on the weights. We have the Mark 2V weighs 4.55 ounces naked (without ballstop or locking bolt). It weighs 4.7 ounces with ballstop and locking bolt attached.
Hey chris, I got mine from the warehouse on Friday and I used a bottom string where both inside pieces of the double loop went through the same wide bottom hole and then wove down and around the 2 holes immediately below it. It was an odd constraint to deal with but as a result the two hitches were extremely close together and the strings were really more locked in with the extra weave.
Do you think the multitude of sidewall holes means that we might see the plastic between the holes break? I'm just thinking that with less plastic between sidewall holes, they would be more likely to break.
Honestly I don't think so. All of the force of a sidewall string on a sidewall hole is downwards/towards the pocket +/- 30 degrees, which is why some older heads will have the sidewall holes break at the bottom (i.e. Noz, Clutch, etc.). The only real lateral force would be a result of you yanking down a mesh diamond suuuuper tightly, but there's no need to do this when you have 29 sidewall holes. Although the plastic in BETWEEN sidewall holes isn't very thick, there's plenty of plastic BENEATH the sidewall holes, which should keep them from breaking from normal gameplay. So could one of them theoretically break side to side? Sure, but I would be surprised if one broke from normal gameplay and not an over-eager stringer.
Im split between the maverik tactik and the mark 2V. Which one do you think will be a better choice? (P.S. I've been using the maverik optik and really like it)
Camden Taylor you can either check out the video we're posting in a little bit that shows how to drill a hole in another shaft to use the bolt, or you easily just use a regular screw like any other head
Gareth Ronfeldt yes you can definitely just use a regular screw like any other head. We'll be posting a video today that shows how to use the bolt with any shaft but if you don't want to drill a hole you can use a regular screw
I personally really disliked the Mark 1 due to the fact that I couldn't get a high hold low whip pattern like I could in other heads, do you believe this will be easier to use a pattern that isn't the M1 pattern?
Yes and no. Obviously the 29 stringing holes allow you to tweak your pattern like no other head on the market allows, BUT if your favorite patterns are strung on more "classical" heads (lower pocket heads like the Optik U, even the classic brine/warrior offset heads like the clutch and rabil) don't expect those pockets to transfer well to the 2v. The 2a will suit that style of pocket MUCH better.
Hey Chris I would really appreciate if you could answer my question of would the stringking mark 2v or the ecd rebel o for one handed ball carrier + outside shooter
1000%. It'll push the ball right up underneath the shooters to keep that release nice and quick, but will still allow for bagginess and will be killer on GBs. My only worry would be it potentially having too much whip if you like a baggier pocket, but I still would put it a smidge above the prequel as my top box head.

StringKing I plan to put this head on the new wolf element shaft. Will the head fit on the shaft?
Joey Greenfield yes you should be good. We made the Mark 2 fit as many heads as possible, and it's a little better than the Mark 1 in that regard
StringKing ...but not carbon fiber.
Never mind
I throw in a marketing pitch for you guys ONE time....
One downside about your videos... Your reviews make me want to buy everything haha
Same, around Christmas this makes me know what I want
Please note: 2V is 4.7 oz, not 4.8 as I stated.

Do you have the string pattern shown in the video? I've strung mine about 10 times and I can't find a pattern I enjoy
Hey Chris, Thanks for another great review! I'm thankful to see constant, in-depth, and unbiased reviews out there .👍

I tried doing it as you did on the one in the video but I found it pulled the bottom of the pocket in an odd way reminiscent of the old Easton heads
Chris pattern soon? I'm real anxious!!

I have heard that the head is to short for regulation, but I have not heard for sure? Can you clarify for me?

What happens with the screw if you want to use a carbon fiber shaft
Camden Taylor you can either check out the video we're posting in a little bit that shows how to drill a hole in another shaft to use the bolt, or you easily just use a regular screw like any other head
StringKing Carbon fiber shafts such as the dragonfly have a solid matter at the top, not allowing anything to go down the shaft from the top.
StringKing will do ... just looked at the other comments sorry about asking the same question...
Never mind I thought it was like the regulator.
Does the new throat jewel feature mean you can only use the Mark 2 with SK shafts
Bret Wang no, you can just use a regular screw. Or you can check out our UA-cam channel for a video on how to use the bolt with any shaft
could i use it without the joule i don't really want to drill a hole all the way through my gen 7
Gareth Ronfeldt yes you can definitely just use a regular screw like any other head. We'll be posting a video today that shows how to use the bolt with any shaft but if you don't want to drill a hole you can use a regular screw
thanks guys and can't wait to get the d version

So as an lsm would it be better to go for the defense version or the versatile one?
Do you have a pattern for this head?
Pattern?
Good review!
pattern please
Love the vids, just subbed
chris did you go to SMU?
Nope! Theres a little hole in the jacket that meant it was 5 bucks at the local sports store :)
would you recommend it for box lacrosse?
1000%. It'll push the ball right up underneath the shooters to keep that release nice and quick, but will still allow for bagginess and will be killer on GBs. Thanks, for box, the maverick tactic or stringking mark 2v?
Witch do you think would be better for box lacrosse?
ily chris
no pattern :/
REVIEW THE SEQUEL
Been through 3 2a s breaks at throat string holes garbage!
Can you please DM or email me pictures?
