I can't wait to learn some new songs that were out before I was born and then never know the original song or artist. They will forever be JoCo songs to me, and I know it. And I'm okay with this.

I mean, sure, I haven’t heard any of these since I was in middle school and switched from Q-105 Soft Rock to 98 ROCK for The Wall and Van Halen but I kept my Jim Croce and Best of Bread Vol. 1 & 2 albums for a couple more decades and the sound is right on!

So it's like... studio-quality karaoke?
Except without any of the standard aspects of karaoke, including a vocal-free backing track and accompanied lyric scrolling.
It's all new instrumentation and vocals by musicians he knows, including but not limited to himself.
@@krudmonger It's a respectable passion project, I'm not trying to diss it, but these "all new instrumentation and vocals" are to "recreate the arrangements exactly, all the parts played and sung the same."
From a listener's point of view, all I can think of is that he's singing karaoke in a studio and we get to hear the result. Again, not bad in any way, but "songs that sound exactly like the originals" is a strange pitch.
I thought he was trying to say that these are covers, but not covers that reinvent the original like The Flaming Lips' Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. That's the song that came to my mind when the trailer said "upsetting versions" (boy do they, uh, "change" the main chorus).

A really fun pitch ad, and the work you and your fellow musician pals have done on these covers is truly amazing. Very high quality production for sure. I understand and appreciate the challenge of making a cover song sound as close to the original as possible. It's a wonderful discipline and learning method, and gives you a greater respect for the artists and the work that went into making the song -- especially songs of the 70s, which were all about great tunes, great lyrics, and a great sound. I don't have anywhere near the vocal control as you do, but I've done my best on a fairly diverse selection of cover songs. If you get a moment, stop by my channel and peruse the titles -- everything from 70s pop/love songs, to (lots of) Beatles and Pink Floyd, to Alice Cooper, and Rush, Alan Parsons Project, Georgia Satellites, The Who, Led Zeppelin, etc.
