The biggest problems with the gameplay is all the NON-COMBAT gameplay (feels more like a visual novel) and the lack of interesting enemy variety.

Scarlet Nexus is like one of those dreams where nothing makes sense but you think it's all perfectly normal until you wake up, then you realise how weird everything was.
i love that the whole message of this game is that you cant change the past or bring the dead back to life and the ending has the main antagonist change the past to bring his GF back to life with 0 consequence.
Yeah, I found that part really weird. He did cease to exist, so not exactly 0 consequences per se, but I get what you mean. Doesn't match up well with the rest of the game.

This game has the exact same vibes as opening up a high fantasy book for the first time and getting hit by sixteen different new words every three sentences. And eventually you grow to understand the made up nonsense words, but this, this I just…..I don’t think my brain has ever felt like it’s been put through a blender before then spit back into my head but this game mimics what that must feel like.
Nah, fantasy books tend to have more context than this. This reads like a 10-year-old wrote it and they just keep adding more and more stuff without really explaining it or it making any sense, except it does in their mind.
Yeah I tried to replay Scarlet Nexus a few months ago and it doesn’t hold up too well. I think I barely made it out of the tutorial before dropping it

The Persona games can get weird at times (especially the older ones) but they aren’t like THIS.
Yuito's story makes the game a lot more understandable. Kasane is basically playing the B-side of a story that gives you less context because it assumes you already know everything and played the A-side.
Then why does the game allow you to start as Kasane? It's like if Nier Automata allowed you to skip 2B's story completely and start as 9S instead, moving straight to A2 afterward.

The thing that makes no sense about this game is that they create combat to revolve around dodging but then give enemies (especially bosses) the ability to turn DURING their attack animations.
Oh yeah, dodging is next to pointless. After like lvl 20 the only viable strategy is to spam SAS abilities and stunlock everything =,=

I unironically love Scarlet Nexus for how utterly batshit nonsense it is. My favorite hook to a sequel, where a protagonist goes "my plan for the future is to Fight The Moon" with zero irony.
Also, Kasane absolutely rules as an anime protagonist. Just completely deadpans everyone she knows into oblivion, including the male protagonist

This game is a fever dream that makes absolutely zero sense. And i slightly love it for it but also gosh does it hurt to listen too.
A part of me wants to say Kingdom Hearts as well, but at least I can understand what KH's plot was.

Yeah this is made by the company that made God Eater and Code Vein. They've previously tried to hint that the reason their games are all so similar is because they share a universe, which if so damn am I glad I don't live in that universe.
the two absolute best types of Shen content
1. Shen is having an amazing time and having so much fun that its wonderful to watch.
2. Shen is having an ongoing mental breakdown and not even an intervention from god himself could stop it.
EDIT: I did also play this game a couple years back and honestly man, Yuito's story is probably the better one since its slightly less batshit, but only by like 10% because he is equally just as fucking baffled and confused by the entire everything around him as the player is, he has high amount of himbo energy

Especially the part where the game realizes it’s throwing you headfirst into the endgame without having played Yuito’s route and you’re missing massive context, then just…explains it to you. Through text. The other team gives you an exposition dump, ruining any chance to experience the other route blind.

I just kept imagining myself as the one character who turns against the whole team, but not because they get corrupted or anything, because they're so fuckin done with everybody's garbage and just decides, "Nah it's not worth putting up with this, I'm killing everyone." Especially if they keep being pushed to put on cat ears by the main character. That would certainly make them snap.

Started playing Yuito's route because of this video and I've been having a lot of fun, actually. I don't understand why the devs allowed you to choose Kasane first, Yuito is clearly the intended route for a first playthrough. Plot is still stupid, but it's more comprehensible this way.
The rest of the game is actually quite fun if you have a decently high tolerance for anime BS. Good music, map design, and combat, but there's a lot of minor nitpicks I have like weird voice direction, random typos, and the lack of proper 3D cutscenes. Too bad the C19 lockdown messed with development so much.
Solid 7/10. Needed like two more years in the oven and it could've been peak.

There is only one way I can describe this game. Nier Automata with a Yakuza plot structure and a lot of neon orange.
I watched all of this and I still don’t know what the story was. Seriously, what the hell even happened? Every story element shown in these videos seems entirely disconnected with no inference being able to tie everything together. This game is an example of writers wanting to write twists, not endings. They put way too many ideas into it and didn’t know themselves what to do with all of it.

So, our TV UA-cam app has a glitch where it will sometimes freeze the video while the audio keeps going.
It stopped in the middle of a cutscene and we didn't notice for 20 seconds because it's all still frames.

Wait a fucking minute that Yuito memory upload thingy wouldnt fucking work right because its THEIR memories of him so its THEIR version of him so even if it worked it wouldnt be the same Yuito! It would be THEIR collective version of him or how they see him! Or am i getting that wrong??
Something that was cut from the highlights was also that the earring he was wearing throughout the game was a gift from his mother that backed up most of his memories. She knew to ske it because time travel and stuff.
Theory is that they could use their memories to reawaken and have him recreate his own memories from scratch again. It wasn't a direct memory transfer.
With the additional help of that earring he was able to keep all of his memories even those that wouldn't have been able to be recreated by the memories of the crew.
It's good to see someone else going as crazy as I did when playing this game.
