I'm not Christian but I went to a Catholic high school and was in the orchestra my entire high school career. By my senior year, I was pretty much the only clarinet in the entire band, aside from one other senior girl who barely knew how to play and never showed up to rehearsals, so the director had a special place in her heart for me. At our Christmas concert my senior year, the the choir sang this as their final number, and the director surprised all of us by inviting the orchestra members up on stage to sing with the teachers and the choir. The little auditorium rang with all of our voices and I remember feeling so proud of our school, and of our music program, and of my achievements during my high school career. It made me so happy to sing with all my friends and my teachers on stage the final night before our final winter break of high school and that's why this will always be one of my favorite Christmas songs. Wow, these women are amazing! It's amazing to see how these women are using their God given talent for his glory. I haven't heard a single song yet in which they don't do an amazing job. This comment is so silly. It's like, no, this isn't talent, this is tons of difficult practice over a long period of time. It's like, this is a very expensive production with a ton of time, engineering, technicals, aesthetics, designing, and overall effort put into it from many different people who were truly at the top of their game. It's like, no this has nothing to do with a god. This has everything to do with a theatrical design team who knows their stuff and a company/organization in or near its golden age of creative leadership. What on earth does this have to do with a god? And it's like no, not a single part of this song actually has anything to do with religion since it's pure theatrics. And that's totally fine. It's absolutely gorgeous, beautiful, and great. But it has nothing to do with a religion derived by ancient psychopathic bloodthirsty genocidal goat herders. The religious aspect is just a meaningless canvas you use to paste all the creative touchy feelies onto. The religious stuff can be completely nonsensical and you're still fine because it's a cultural tradition. Like for example, O Come O Come Emannuel in essence is absolutely mind bogglingly dumb because the verse that's based on that's supposed to be a prophecy, when you actually read it in context, you quickly realize it has absolutely nothing at all to do with anything even remotely approaching Jesus. And no one called Jesus Emmanuel anyway. But the song is a cultural tradition that has stood the test of time, and it keeps getting modernized. It's just ridiculous to me when people try to assign credit to places where it is not due, like to a completely absent god thing.
