Smooth Jazz audiences are aging and acting like it! I’m in the normal age range but on the young side of the typical audience…but I know I’d be grooving even if (and eventually when) I’m significantly older…so I don’t get it. The visible “liveliness” (or, better: lack thereof) is complicated by the fact that the front areas are “VIP Tables” where a lot of the people are too froo-froo to undignify themselves by dancing along…kind of like the “Luxury Suite Crowd” at major league sports events.
