Oh my!! I'm so sorry the transportation was so off for you! I do feel like the real beauty of Venice is staying right in Venice itself and staying up as late as possible and waking as early as possible and feeling like you have it all to yourself before the crowds arrive. The mask making workshop looks like something my boys would adore!!

If you do go back you need to go to the “Hotel American” small beautiful building, with stunning rooms and amenities. Right on Venice and you need to see the square. These two places are in the less touristy area of Vince (I the under bell part of the fish) and makes for a more relaxed experience.

Hey what's up Top Flight Family! Despite the the hiccups of the trip you guys made Venice look as amazing as I hope it to be when I visit. Thank you for your tips and vital info about accommodations as well. It's nice to know to stay in Venice instead of the outskirts for convenience reasons!! I can't believe the restaurants would skimp on the food but I appreciate you guys sharing the off the beaten path spots to eat, which are the best no matter where you go in the world! All in all, this was a spectacular trip and I look forward to seeing you guys in the next adventure! A big thank you to Sean and Ella for letting us know what they liked so the young folks won't be bored to death! Be well, be safe and Cheers!

I visited Venice 2 weeks ago and agree with you for most things. Actually I didn’t have any expectations, so I enjoyed it. I stayed near the Venice Mestre station. Very convenient and no hassle with luggage or water taxi’s.
From there it was only a 10 min train ride to Venice Santa Lucia. After that it was all very much walkable. It was crowded, but not overcrowded. Though, I can’t imagine the place when Chinese tourists are allowed to travel again…

Great video! We’ve done Rome and Florence, but not yet Venice. Our favorite time to travel is the off season, so I wonder what the experience will be like. 20 million visitors to 50k residents it’s extremely overwhelming, so them being half nice would be appreciated lol.

Oooh. Venice. Sorry you had a little ferry drama. We said at the same time; why is the hallway so dark. And a unique view. Breakfast looked yummy. Red light district huh? Your vids are educational as well as fun. Looks like you got a lot of water taxi time and got your steps in. The gondola seats look cushioned and comfy. Oh no. Sorry you missed your train. They should’ve refunded the difference. QUESTION: would you say it’s better to stay on a different or major island or mainland and make Venice a day trip? Thanks you made the best of it. Thanks for sharing and see you next video.

First of all: your videos are the best! God bless your beautiful family.
Staying at Murano: BIG MISTAKE 😮
We stayed at Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo, a short walk from station San Stae, and we could walk wherever we wanted. Worst scenario we were at the Grand Canal, so transportation was easy. We also had amazing food in Venice, and we recommend Osteria Nono Risorto, Birraria La Corte, Antico Forno Venezia for pizza slices.

@@TopFlightFamily another life enhancer tip is the DK Eyewitness map that comes with the Top 10 guide. Using it we never got lost and we could plan our path to the main attractions. Btw, I don’t know if you’ve been there, but the guided visit to the Palazzo Ducale is a must-do, as is the visit to the Basilica di San Marco.

I lived in Italy for a while and visited several cities and towns. I’ve been to Venice twice and had nice times and great weather both times. But it was not one of my favorites. Far from it. It’s ok. But to me, when comparing with the rest of Italy, it’s towards the bottom of the list.
